me too. exactly like this. just had a spell the other day. came out of no where
Magnesium actually helped mine.
I also get a cramp in my abdomen. I need to pay more attention to see if it is always in the same place but since I just had one I know this one was in the upper middle abdomen, slightly to the left. I was driving and it also tensed up my back muscles to the point of being painful there. It has happened several times when I am driving and I get scared that I will move and the pain will flair up more but I watch my breathing and sort of puff out my stomach and it kind of holds the pain at bay. I have had another similar pain that I think is lower when I bend over. I say it feels like I "pinched an organ" but it is probably a spasm. I am overweight. I know I have Nonalcoholic fatty liver. I had my gallbladder out and I've had 2 c-sections. I also eat a lot of fiber and wonder if bowels have anything to do with it. Seems like a lot of people who struggle with this may have some similar issues...eg surgeries or weight issues in this area. If anyone has a solution, let me know. So far, it does not happen too often.
Oh my god I’m glad I’m not the only one that feels these cramps.i was at work today and I sneezed hard and got a big cramp in the lower part of my abdomen, and it creeped up my right side under my rib cage,oh my god the pain was awful after about 5 minutes it went away.then I’m driving home from work and I started coughing, and here come the cramps again from the bottom of my abdomen on my right side then moves across to the left side and under my rib cage,I thought I was going to drive to the emergency room ,it lasted my whole ride home bout 6 or 7 minutes,I thought maybe I had a hernia...this is crazy
That is me !!!!
Any answers to this? Mine started the same way while I was nursing and stretching to pick up binky. Now they happen here and there, but it feels like a pulse I’m my belly.
Just had one a few minutes ago. I also had laparoscopic surgery, and I'm wondering the same. Really, interested in knowing if you found out anything.
I was tested for evything under th sun and came up clean, finally a ct with dye told the doc it is my colon spasming. He put me on dyciclimine 4 times a day which helps but laughing sometimes still brings it on. Have to go on a strict diet and get the colon back in working order. I had also had bacterial overgrowth in my intestines because of the mal function. That being cleared now working on the spamsing problem. Going on three years on not being diagnosed finally some remedy.
Ive done accupuncture and cupping. It doesnt do mich for the spasm, i had a ct with the dye, they found it was my colon spasming. Ibs or sibo as they call it, they put me on dycilimine (antispasmatic) 4 times a day, which helps. I dont trigger as much. When and if i get my colon working right im hoping all the spasms will go away. I also was diagnosed with bacterial overgrowth in my colon which made everything inside swell. I use the prilosec and it makes me feel better.
I have all the pain you speak of. It got very bad, so I went to doctor. Had MRI, was told that I had 2 herniated lumbar discs and an old spinal fracture. Now, I have pain all around my ribcage and some spasms in my R upper abdomen. Treat this with Naproxin, tens therapy and heat to my back in the morning and at night, while doing exercises to strengthen my lower back in hopes of having this pain ease, and to become stronger. I am almost 70 years old. Injury was caused by doing too much heavy lifting. I should have known better.
I thought I was alone! My husband and family don't believe me. The pain when it happens is excruciating. They laugh at me. It wakes me up at night if I move a certain way. Horrible.
Wow. I had my gallbladder and my appendix removed at two different times. Four months apart, It has been nearly four years ago... The same exact symptoms you are having so am I...The right side of my stomach, under my ribcage there is a large group of muscles and if I bend or move the wrong way this muscle group turns into a hard ball of an angry painful nightmare! I notice it most frequently when I bend and try to lift something. Doesn't have to even be a heavy object..... I have learned that if I immediately relax all of my muscles or my entire body I'll say and stay relaxed for a few minutes the muscle group calms back down and the unbearable pain goes away. Still, though I am sore like someone punched me for a day or two later..... I am going to break down and go to the doctor because I am getting to the point that it really is compromising my ability to live a normal life..... I looked at the symptoms of a hiatal hernia and that doesn't seem like what I am experiencing at all... So I guess I'll let you know what the doctor tells me.
How are your muscle spasms today? I have this same issue and think it may be an imbalance but I don't know what!
I stumbled across this website looking for answers to my abdominal spasms, too. I also started experiencing them abortly after having my second child (19 months ago now). I’m not sure what causes them - but after a few terrible muscle cramps this week, my husband has pushed me to see the doctor. Have you ever found out what caused yours?
I am wondering, how many of you have had abdominal surgery?
Mine started years ago after a reversed colostomy. The cramp had always been in the area where the stoma was (lower to mid gut), left side. Recently the pain/cramp has moved and is now just below my rib cage right side. Like so many others, it comes on suddenly and is a severe, sharp, painful cramp, physically seen as a fist sized lump. Its like a charlie horse in the gut. It lasts a minute or two and seems to help if I stretch my torso. I had assumed it was associated with more recent (8 years) surgery to remove scar tissue that was causing ongoing bowel obstructuions. I have always felt it could be scar tissue from last surgery.
I also have non-hodgkin's lymphoma. Probably unrelated, but heck you never know.
