I started to notice a pattern... Everytime I used shaving cream or body wash, I would get an itchy vulva. I opted to change tampons ( since mine were not organic) and hopefully this will also give better results, as well as since I shave... I assume since the hair grows back this causes itchiness aswel.. I resulted also this time around to more home remedies since the prescripted cream didn't work the first time. The cream is a 10 day cream but I only used it for 2 days so I had lots left over. I immediately felt itchiness after my period ending so I began using vinegar and cold water, and washed myself as many times as I could through out the day.. I tried yogurt ( plain, Greek yogurt) and didn't find much of a result when applying it. I found that it actually caused more itchiness after the coldness disappeared... I found that applying canaestin and vinegar worked best. I did however throughout those few days (4) eat a lot of yogurt since I heard it helped. I also switched towels each time I washed myself so that the irritation couldn't spread again or reoccurs. I also didn't rub myself dry, I let myself air dry and tried to use cotton underwear or none at all st night. Lastly, I used the flagystin again and it seemed to work much better this time around... Hopefully this helps
I haven't posted here in awhile, but I used to suffer from this problem and nothing my doctor gave me helped. At first they thought yeast, then tried to say I was douching and/or using the wrong products (I've never douched in my life and I use mild Dove soap), and then gave me some kind of steroid cream, which of course didn't work. Interestingly enough, I had Mirena inserted about a year and a half ago and ever since I have not had this issue. I believe this is because on Mirena I do not have my period (very rarely I will have some spotting, but never a real period). Considering that I (and the majority of others on this forum) would only have this problem immediately before, during, and for a few days after my period, as well as the fact that I no longer have this issue since my Mirena implant, it seems evident that the issue is caused by something going awry during the menstrual cycle. I found interesting article about Cytolytic vaginosis, which is the medical term for lactobacilli overgrowth, and is entirely different from candidiasis (yeast infection).
While it doesn't totally resolve the question, it is a starting point and at least provides you something to talk about with your doctor. Good luck ladies.

It's an allergy is correct. This is the first time this ever happened to me. I'm literally just coming off my period. I noticed it occurred right after using a tampon and leaving it in over night. I'm glad the first person said that cause this is exactly what I did. And from there, I did notice the frequent peeing. Now I can google. TSS, toxic shock syndrome, the re are many side effects, that goes along with the use of tampons being used over 4 hours. I remember feeling faint like before and getting a sudden headache out the blue. We all have the same thing in common. A period, then she mentioned the tampons.
Doctors have no clue. I've suffered from an itchy, dry burning on and off for 3 years now. Upon MY OWN research, I discovered that it could be 1 of 2 things or both. One being Cytolytic vaginosis which is a vaginal condition that involves an overgrowth of lactobacillus bacteria. Lactobacilli are a normal part of the vaginal environment. Basically, my vagina is too acidic. People frown on douching, but I found that a because baking soda alkalizes, a baking soda douche twice a week helps, or making a paste of baking soda and applying topically. Something is also soothing and moisturizing, because this itchy burning comes with dryness is to insert Evening Primrose Oil, as well as PRESEED (which can be found in any drug store, google it's benefits). The second factor, is an increase or decrease in Estrogen that may be causing discomfort. So I also take the supplement MACA (google its benefits too). Basically, it balances hormones, and it doesn't take a long time to notice the effects. It's almost instant. Vitamin E also soothes. Coconut oil is good too, but since it does have an anti bacterial effect, it's best not to use it often. Also, as for the baking soda, since it alkalizes, it's best not to overuse it, because it can backfire and start to burn. I hope this has helped someone, because a painful vagina can effect your entire mood and is the most frustrating thing I've ever experienced.
