I'm a guy (straight) and was searching for something else and wound up here I have kinda the same problem but i think its because I slouched all my life and (my theory) I believe that caused me not to have good obliques and I think that is why mine does.

There has to be a simple solution. Ive had this problem for years and once got sick and couldn't eat anything solid for a little over a week. Soup, plain yogurt, jello, and water was basically my diet. It sucked horribly but my stomach flattened out. Once I could eat again it came right back, and Im not talking about fast food. Im a dude 5'10" with this problem trying to figure this one out. I work out have a fairly nice body minus the bloating belly. If I flex my stomach I have a 6 pack. Im sick of it and dont want to be malnurished in order to enjoy a flat stomach.

So it seems so far there is no real anwer..i'm 5'3", 103 lbs..same problem...my stomach feels full of gas but that doesnt seem to be the problem. when i get sick and have a low appetite it goes away..i have a pretty well rounded diet, im not the healthiest person in the world but i dont eat junk and fast food often so im just not sure at all why my stomach is puffed out

Right, this could be down to bad posture.

Hold your stomach right in and then release it about 50%. Tie a string around it tightly at this position. Now get dressed and go about your day!

The string will serve as a constant reminder that you are slouching (just like a British butler!). Causing you to hold yourself.

After 3 or 4 weeks of this you will find a reduction in your "belly" size and maybe a slight increase in your height as you posture has been corrected.

If your stomach is bloated and you are losing weight . . .have your doctor check for celiacs disease. A blood test and then a biopsy of your small intestine will confirm the diagnosis. Untreated this auto immune disease can be really hurt your organs.

same! i'm 5'8" and 115 lbs. i do ab workouts all the time because i feel like maybe it's because I'm not in shape. However, when i suck in my abs look great, but normally my stomach looks like a pregnant woman's. ITS SO ANNOYING! I want a flat tummy but it just isn't happening!

I'm 5'1 and 110 lbs. I am not fat and Im am not skinny. But I have a very fluffy stomach. It started when they found out there was a scratch in my intestine 4 yrs ago. That time I already had ulcer and gastritis. It's been three years, and i still have these very annoying fluffy stomach.

Try taking adding some fiber into your diets, initially this may make it seem worse but may help settle any inflammation and help pass any build up in your intestines. Also adding a probiotic will help as well. I have the same problem and think its a combination of things. I find that if I increase fiber, take probiotics, exercise, drink lots of water, and mostly take a good digestive enzyme helps. Also eating lots of raw foods I find make it worse but drinking hot fluids seem to even this effect out. Good luck I know how much this can rule your life!

Too many carbs? When I tried the Atkins diet, my stomach got flat. Not that you need to do that diet, just something to consider.

hey I used to be anorexic and bulimic but I still have it just not as bad and I'm 6 feet tall and now weight 146 I used to weight 100 anyways the problem with your stomach is that u don't work out if you eat right and work out your stomach shrinks for some reason and u get flat stomach do cardio mostly and try to do weights and crunches to tone your whole body but mostly cardio also swimming and dancing help

:P Everyone says I'm so skinny, but i think I'm so fat. I'm 4'11 and 89 pounds. When i look in the mirror i don't see what everyone else sees! My stomach looks like it sticks out, and i look fat! No one else sees it. I'm pretty skinny around my legs, and i can feel my ribs without sucking in my stomach.. i think i still have my baby fat because I'm 12 years old.. i just want to get rid of it :P

I am petite and have the same prob. I think it's just because were tiny so a's the above post says there's no where else for our stomach to go but out when it's full. I find doing yoga and pilates help elongate the body so it's not so round. And I eat a lot of greens & fish that helps me not get bloated. BUT I find when I do situps my abs look like fat when I don't flex and it's pretty annoying. How does one get the washboard look?!?!

i came to this site last week cause i was having bloating every single night, it didn't look good, and it bothered me even with drinking water,
i was having dinner with no SALADS, but drinking herb tea with ginger, green tea with ginger, NONE helped,
so for the last 4 nights now, having dinner with SALAD, romaine lettuce tomatoes and other green stuff, with crushed garlic
some lemon juice, sometimes lemon juice and vinegar, of course not the best breath ever, but no bloating, minor gas, but yes no bloating,
i can sleep and drink without even thinking about it the way i did only few days ago,

You probably have coeliac disease (spelled 'celiac' if you are American). It is an allergy to gluten which is found in wheat, rye, barley, oats and malt. It also causes lactose intolerance. This makes your stomach bloat.
The best way to check is to maintain your diet and get a blood test from the doctor which will indicate if this may be the problem.
