I lost 16 pounds in 10 days after my hysterectomy and a week in the hospital with an infected hematoma! Not the best way to lose weight but it kick started my diet, lots more to lose...
I don't want to alarm you, but my surgery took 5+ hours. (Close to 5 1/2.) And my surgeon told me that even with over 100 laparoscopic surgeries, she thought about converting a few times. But I had no health risks, so she went slowly and proceeded with our original plan and got that huge fibroid out. The good news: I did fine! No problems during surgery, went home that evening. Have a few things I'm dealing with as a result of anesthesia, probably (I get thirsty very quickly still, and I sometimes get winded if I exert myself) but overall--all good. I'm not 5 weeks outside my original surgery. Good luck with your procedure!
I had my surgery on May 16,2017. I'm glad I had it done. I looked as if I was 5 months pregnant. The surgery itself went great but the pain afterwards was an eye opener. I had 2 previous c-sections with lots of scar tissue. I am post op two weeks and feeling much better and pain is a minimal now. I really feel as if the pain was really worth it. I feel much lighter, although, I haven't weighed myself yet. Good luck!
Thanks for sharing your experience! I hope you continue to recover well, and that you indeed do lose weight! I just had a consult with my gyn yesterday about my severe PMDD and enlarged uterus (I had full term twins, and since then, I have had so many uterine problems). I'm currently on a medically supervised weight loss program to lose a significant amount of weight, so I'm planning on having a total hysterectomy and bilateral oophorectomy. I'm hoping this will bring my weight down further to normal (as I'm obese-- I was morbidly obese, so I gladly say I'm just plain old obese now!)...additonally, I'm going to ask her about coordinating a tummy tuck at the same time. She mentioned having my bladder repaired (for stress incontinence) at the same time, but as I lose weight, the stress incontinence gets better...to where it's almost gone. Thanks again!
Glad to hear! I'm getting a hysterectomy in the am, so nervous.
I'm about to have the surgery and I've had to C sections and I was wondering how long did you stay ?
How did your surgery go? did you experience weight gain? I am going to be doing the same and I am fearing the weight gain, I am already slightly over weight and have back issues and the thought of more weight is freaking me out.
I'm scheduled to have a hysterectomy but I'm afraid that I want be sexual active anymore and that my husband is going to leave me so I'm thinking about canceling it again
You will still be able to get "wet" and orgasm! :-) However of they take your ovaries, hormones have a lot to do with arousal but please speak with your Dr as well about these concerns. I have found that I like my orgasms more after my surgery than before, and it could have a lot to do with less pain during and after intercourse. GL
3 days same as c section
Hello thank you so much for sharing.
I am 31 and have endometriosis and a full hysterectomy is in my near future. I am looking forward to having no more pain and getting my life back. Can you share with me how the last year has been specifically with weight gain or loss?
Thanks

I had mine down 2 days ago and I feel absolutely fantastic!!! Like you said, I too am loosing unwanted weight due to loss of appetite and only being able to eat very small portions as well. I no longer suffer from all day, everyday cramping and/or breakthrough bleeding. And surprisingly enough my back doesn't hurt anymore either! Best choice I have made in years. If you are considering it, talk to your GYN and weigh your options and then if it's right for you, go for it!!
