I had my gall bladder removed exactly 1 week ago, I'm 20 and male with a gallbladder full of stones which is unusual for my demographic, it took them about a week to diagnose it and pancreatitis developed along the way, I had an endoscopy to clear the stones in my bile tract and my gallbladder out 2 days after that with laproscopic surgery. Since then the pain has been steadily getting better, still can't sleep on my side yet though. I've also lost about 10 pounds since the day after the surgery (180 to 170 in 1 week)

I hope my post finds you have recuperated well! I had mine out in May of this year and I was TERRIFIED! The only other surgery I ever had prior to that was a tubal. Recovery went well and I felt great. However, over the past few months I've noticed a real weight loss and was really concerned as to why. My husband has been telling me for weeks he thinks it has something to do with my gallbladder surgery but I wouldn't listen. After reading several of the other posts on here, I am beginning to think that could be a possibility. The only thing is that I have lost a total of 20 pounds since my surgery in May but 16 of it has been in the past two months and it’s because I don’t have much of an appetite. I’m working with my doctor to figure it out, but I really hope it’s because of the surgery. 

I don't know if this is true or not but I've read and also had my doctor tell me that after the removal of my gallbladder I don't have to stop eating fatty foods. I had mine removed 1 week ago and now that the nausea has passed I'm finally ready to eat. My doc told me to eat the same foods that I ate before having the surgery. Most people say that you can't eat fatty or greasy food anymore but my doc said that your body would adjust. I'll try and give an update and let you know how it all affects me .... We'll see.

I'd be interested in speaking with you. I'm vegan and about to have my gallbladder out next week, and I'm scared!

Hello everyone. Just browsing and found this. I had my gall bladder out about 6 months ago as i was having regular abdominal pains. After all the usual tests, they found i had gallstones and whipped my gall bladder out! This has not helped the stomach pains which now appear to be ibs related. I have however lost 2 st which i simply cant regain. I look 10 years older and need to put on some weight! Any ideas?!!!?!? I am eating less fat amd various other things that i have got the heeby jeebies about worrying that they will cause a stomach pain attack. Its all a bit rubbish frankly. I suppose i should be grateful thet didnt find anything horrible in there but whipping my gall bladder out was a waste of time and nhs resources. Sorry for the rant but wondering if anyone else has had the same experience?

I had my fall bladder removed 2 years ago and have lost 25 pounds. I keep reading that there is no reason for this or that it's due to a new diet. It is simply because I don't need to eat as much. I was hungry, shaky....my body needed food. Now I get a little hungry but get full faster. I know there is a formula people who have never needed to lose weight throw out...eat less and exercise more. Yeh...no kidding. It's not always as simple as that. Something changed with my body and I have the appetite and metabolism that I had 20 years ago.

No, if anything I put on weight after the removal of my gall bladder! Now I am having mobility problems due to a complication in surgery where one of my bile ducts were damaged. I am now limited to any excercsises, so now have put on 3 stone, as they say my bile duct is irreparable
