Before any of you had your gall bladders out were you diagnosed after ultrasound with sludge in your GB or did any of you have yellow stool? This is my case and has been since the birth of my first child 16 years ago. I gained about 50lbs after his birth and am still over weight. I am wondering if my body is behaving like I had my gall bladder out, it clearly isn't getting much bile if my stool is the colour it is. GB is starting to bother me now, I have some stone now a dull ache under my ribs, a lot of shoulder blade pain daily and many head aches. I think they are going to say it needs to come out. Do you think I will gain more weight or will I lose cause my digestion will now be able to get bile. Do you gain weight from too little or too much bile? Thoughts?

now that time has passed, what is your weight doing without your gallbladder? Before you had your GB out did you notice if your stools were lighter in color or if you had referred pain in your right shoulder blade?

I had my gallbladder out 4 weeks ago (on holidays lucky me) and I was a normal weight beforehand. Since I have lost 10kg in 4 weeks and it keeps dropping and dropping. I am 6kg off being underweight now as I am 5'9. I atrribute the weight loss to not being able to eat any fats as I immediately bolt to the bathroom after, I cut all dairy out and haven't touched one alcoholic drink nor have I been fitness training like I used to. It was a definite wake up call to start eating more healthier options; I was always thin yet could eat whatever I wanted and not gain weight and now I have cut all my vices I'm dropping weight staggeringly fast.

So, had a scan today ... gallstones! Yay! Not! ... just wondering now what the process will be? Is it a case of the doctors see the scan and assess if surgery is the route to take or us it a definite? ... must say, enjoyed reading all your stories. .. If surgery is the route I'm gonna take, I must admit I'm petrified. .. as much as I pretend not to be... any advice or words of reassurance lol

Wondering if anyone has thoughts on why they are either losing or gaining weight.  Do you think your body has more or less bile running through digestion?  My stools are mustard coloured (sorry TMI) which tells me that I am not getting any bile from the G, bile is dark green and gives the normal brown appearance.  Did anyone have this symptom with alot of shoulder and neck pain.  Still trying to get mine diagnosed.  The big question for me is if I get it taken out, will I gain or lose with more bile accessible.

You're vegan? Well there's your problem. How can you say you are vegan an you eat healthy in the same sentence? Vegan diets are unnatural unless you dispute the tenants of darwinism.

Don't wait! I have learned that in a great many cases it progresses from small meals in many cases to No Meals. As the inflammation gets worse, eating anything *at all* becomes agony. (Even water.) There can be inflammation and even gangrene which will mean the difference between outpatient laproscopy or the full on abdominal surgery - old style- with weeks and even months of recovery. _BTW_ between 6 weeks of agony and post operative recovery, I lost around 30 lbs. (I am still loosing after a month of recovery.) My physician tells me that diet has something to do with it, but not all, and that it's not that uncommon to loose post gall bladder surgery. She did not have me "lay around and rest" but had me up and walking the next morning and, then, back to the gym withing in 10 days. A month later: I did 3 miles today on a fairly strenuous hike. A friend who went same thing I did several years ago lost 60 lbs in a very short time - and- did not gain it back. I haven't noticed any difference in the general digestive tract, but, I tend toward a "mostly plants" and little or no processed foods to start with. One more thing: there are people who advocate lemon and olive oil or distilled water to dissolve the stones. Don't do it: the oil will create that unbelievable pain & nausea that puts you On The Floor and the distilled water just robs your system of minerals. That aforementioned friend who lost 60 lbs nearly died trying that remedy. (She was not overweight to start with and never really recovered.) I cannot underscore enough the amount of pain involved if you let it go for any amount of time.

I had the surgery about a month ago. Yes, I was scared. But- it's a relatively short proceedure and not terribly painful - especially compared with the pain the stones cause. The laproscopy left 4 tiny scars. Recovery has been very fast and I haven' felt this energetic in *years.* Just do it.
