I "Finally" have an appointment to see a surgeon. I see him July 26th. 2012 & I've got to say I'm relieved to hear from some-one, it took long enough, but I guess that's what happens when you don't have a Doctor of your own. I've also heard more from my Older Sister about helping her with her getting a piece of my Liver & that will happen the first week of July, talk about calling it close...lol. I'm not really looking forward to any of the procedures that I'll have to go through, but I am looking forward to helping My Big Sister out any way I can, even if it will be (very) uncomfortable for me, at least she'll feel better. Any-way I'll let you all know how I'm doing after the Gallbladder removal, whether I gain or lose weight (I hope I lose the weight though....lol). But so far I have lost 3 lbs. since my last update.

Was the weight loss a good thing for you or a bad thing? For me losing the weight will be a very good thing. It will be nice to feel attractive again, because right now no matter how much I exercise & eat right I can't lose the weight. Now for most people being 5' 7" tall & wieghing163 lbs. probably isn't a big deal, but for me it's been very depressing since I used to be at the most 105 lbs for most of my life. For me gaining any weight was a problem, I always wanted to gain at least 25 to 30 lbs. at the most, but now if I can lose the 30 lbs. I always wanted to gain I'd be one very happy woman again, how ironic is that...lol. Who knows may-be I'd be a lot easier to live what with not being so down in the dumps & so moody most of the time. You know it's not true what they say about over weight people, we're not always jolly, funny & fun to be with, although I do try it's just some-thing I can't maintain, so yes I get moody. Now I realize that 163 lbs. isn't usually considered "over weight", but for me it is. It will be nice to see the sun again (metaphorically speaking that is), oh!, & to finally wear a bathing suit again...lol.
I hope to hear from you about your weight loss situation, either good or bad.
Sincerely;
Linda J. Wilkinson

Thank you for your response, losing the weight for me will be just great because I went from 98 lbs (at the time) to 180 lbs in three months. I've always looked sickly though because I was born with a Heart Murmur & then later on in my adult life a developed another one, so being pale & weak looking is a normal thing for me. As for cloths not fitting me I've had a hard time as well, but for me I always wore baggy cloths, so if & or when I do lose the weight I gained I still have my "skinny" cloths, (my Mom says I'm a pack rat when it comes to my cloths) but now they are back in style...lol.
Any-ways, I will keep you all updated on my weight loss or gain (hopefully weight loss though).
Sincerely;
Linda J. Wilkinson

I'm glad there are boards out here for topics such as these. Exactly 1 month ago (May 7) I had my gallbladder taken out. I had looked up everything I could to see if there was another option aside from surgery, but by then my ultrasound showed that I had a gallstone the size of a marble, so the only option was surgery. Other than that my gallbladder was relatively healthy along with my liver and pancreas. I can understand what everyone was worried about when it came down to would I lose or gain weight. I've had trouble for years of gaining and losing 15-20 lbs at a time, so I was naturally concerned that I was going to gain weight. By the time of my surgery I had already lost 15 lbs due to not being able to eat or eating very very little. Since the surgery I had lost roughly another 15 lbs, which I will say feels great. The only problems I am facing now are diarrhea (up to 5 times a day) and nausea (only if I eat fast food or very fatty foods). My parents have had to accommodate their eat habits to fit mine and they have since then been buying leaner cuts of meat and lower fat foods which has helped keep the nausea down. I have been curious if other people have had these said issues of diarrhea and such, and how long did it usually last for you? <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

I had mine removed 5 1/2 months ago and have lost roughly 30 lbs. since then; Not to mention the fact that it has ALWAYS been a very difficult challenge for me to be able to knock off weight so 30 lbs is substantial amount and I blame it all on my Gal Bladder removal. That thing was not only causing me pain but I was stunting my health as well. If there is any indication you have issues with your Gal Bladder and your contemplating on if you should go through with the surgery or not..... trust me, DO IT- you will NOT be dissappointed. The weight loss is NOT a myth.... Get it done if it's needed for your health! You wont be sorry!!!
Good luck!!!!

Hi All,
I honestly hope, that there is still people reading these posts:
I'm having my gallbladder removed on the 14th December 2012, I hava a gallstone of 16.3mm, and the doc says its already to big, to try and lazer it smaller, and that he can see that I am in extreme pain. (Been in pain for the last 4 months, been to 3 different drs, and eventually someone found out what was causing the pain.)
I'm sh*t scared (sorry for the word) for this op. Can anyone tell me the types of food I'll be able to enjoy after the op. I'm not big on fatty/oily foods, but do enjoy my bacon and eggs over the weekends. I've also read that I'm going to have to use less dairy products? I dont drink milk. but I LOVVVEEE my cheese. I'm currenty @60kg's, and hope that I will also be losing some weight....lol
Please, please any advice will be awesome.

First off, good luck on your surgerty. You'll do fine and will see that things will get better after the problem is taken out. Since you have already cut out most of the fat from your foods (based on your post), I would say hold off on the bacon and cheese for a few weeks. Bacon is pretty hard to digest and it took me a few weeks before I could fully enjoy eating it. Same would go for cheese (depending on how much of it you eat). Just take it easy for the first month and then you can start building up what you can and can't eat. Things will change every month concerning on what you can eat. Best thing to do is start to make a list of foods that you can eat without any problems and foods that either make you sick, gassy, or nauseous.

Hi Rachelle; There are sites that will tell you what you can & can't eat, but Pork Products is not our friend when it comes to the Gallbladder, in or out because if you want to protect your Liver stay away from those foods. As to guess 3's advise that's good to follow as well, all you have to do is just keep a record of what does & doesn't bother you. Good Luck with the surgery & your recovery. Linda J. Wilkinson
