Hi All,
Just an update after the surgery.
I had my gallbladder removed, as well as endometriosis and the Dr also did a colonscopy.
In 3 days it will be a month ago, and I have to say I feel great. Its wonderful to not have all those pains anymore.
I've been trying to keep my diet very healthy, the only problem is that as soon as i eat something wrong, i have diarrhea.
I've lost 5 kilo's, dont know how to convert it to pounds though, hopefully I wont loose anymore, coz then I might fall through my own ass.
In 2 weeks I can start exercising again, looking forward to that.
For people who still have to go for the surgery: If its done laparoscopically the healing process is so much quicker.
Will keep you guys informed on how the healing and eating process is going.
Compliments for the new year!

I had my gall bladder out on 1/11, and I've dropped at least 20 lbs. I've made some major changes to my diet, because I was eating fast food almost every night prior to getting the surgery. I've cut out all soda, and only drink water, juice or the occasional chocolate milk. I'm eating far less, where before I could easily eat a supersize meal from a fast food place, now the burger will fill me up with a couple of fries. I eat a lot of soup and potatoes and sandwiches. I have another check on the 7th, so I'll let ya'll know what the official total is after that.

You might want to check out the book, "Wheat Belly." Its all about the unhealthy aspects to wheat. Even when it says, "whole grain," you have to check the ingredients. If it says, "enriched wheat," instead of "whole-grain wheat," it's c**p. Enriched basically means that they strip the wheat grains of all their beneficial content and then add back in some of the vitamins and minerals. Wheat (even enriched) also stimulates your appetite, making you craze still more wheat. The book has all kinds of excellent recipes that aren't super complicated to prepare. Best of luck!

I had to have my gall bladder removed prior to bariatric surgery. I was hoping to have a lapband put in but in order to do that I needed to have my gall bladder and its 3 cm stone removed first. After having the surgery I unfortunetly did not have the lapband procedure but I still managed to lose over 200 lbs. I went in weighing over 500 lbs pre surgery, back in 2010, and I currently weigh 310lbs as of 2/13/13. I have not had any weight loss surgery, no strict diet other than portion control, no excercise other than what ever I do during my normal course of the work day, nothing special and yet im still dropping the pounds. Ive always wondered if this has something to do with the gall bladder surgery or not????

Had my gallbladder taken out a week ago. After four excrusiating years of being told my pain was due to stomach acid, i was finally diagnosed correctly with gall stones. I had gallbladder removed and ersp procedure to get 3 stones removed from my bile duct. Ive lost 6 lbs from the day i came home. Which was 6 days ago. I have been eating pretty bad too. I know i shouldnt, but after not being able to eat hardly anything for days, i had a lot of cravings. Plus im 21 and my friends constantly want to eat out and unhealthy, and i have low self control. Ive had some problems with loose stools, but nothing unmanageable. I keep stepping on the scale and expecting to be up in weight after my bad eating, but its been the opposite. Im not complaining, but have heard more stories of weight gain than loss with gb removal so i was surprised. I am going to start watching what i eat bc i dont think the weightloss will last.
As far as pain goes, i had mine removed laproscopically so pain is minimal. Kinda feels like i did 1000 sit ups. Sneezing is awful though!! 100% worth it. If you are reading this and unsure about the surgery, i highly reccomend you go for it. The prior agonizing pain from the attacks ares gone and once im healed, i know it will be worth it.
Sorry for the grammer and miss spellings. Im writing this on a ipad and not used to it.

I had my gall bladder out about 10 years ago. I still have the same abdominal pains as before the surgery and I've gained about 30 pounds. All efforts at losing weight have been completely unsuccessful. I'm not sure that the surgery has been of any help at all.

I have never had any weight problems up until a couple years ago. It started slow and then I ended up being 160. I was able to drop back down to 149 (Very slowly) and now I am creeping back up to 157. I dont like fatty foods, I bake everything, no oils, etc... I love salads, drink plenty of water and am active but I cant seem to lose the weight I put on. I just found out that I have gall stones and have to get my gall bladder taken out, which the doctor said might be contributing to my weight gain... I see alot of people here have lost the weight after they had theirs taken out but then i read online that you GAIN weight after you get it taken out... Can someone help me out here and maybe any type of advice for after the surgery??? Thanks

I am about to get mine removed, the GI Dr told me the loss is due to the fact the gallbladder breaks down proteins. so that most of proteins are lost, but given some time the secretions will eventually "pool" up and act as a gall bladder again.

I had issues with my gallbladder for 3-4 years and had no idea that was the problem. I always had trouble with my weight after I started my period when I was 12. Then at the age of 20 I decided to get lap band done. I had lost 90 pounds in 8 months. I had kept the weight off for about 2 years. Then I started having pain problems in my stomach area that went straight to my back. It would last for about an 1 1/2 to 2 hours then it would go away. I thought the pain was associated with the band. I thought I was having gas problems in my stomach. Then 3 years ago I removed all the saline from the band. By that time I had gained most of my weight back. I was having difficulty with band and keeping food down. Then I would still have the pain but not as bad. Then 2 years ago my weight had gone up even more. I was really frustrated because I was somewhat to going along the lap band diet. I had not had fast food since I was 20. I had no carbonated drinks since then either. I always loved eating vegetables, chicken, and lean beef. I couldn't understand why I was eating better than most skinny people were. I was fighting the weight. Then since last March I was trying to be stricter with my diet and had only lost 16 pounds 11 months. But stomach had not gone down. Then a month ago I started having more attacks to where I was out for a week thinking I had a bug. Then I went back to work for a week. Then on a Thursday and Friday I was having horrible pains basically all night until I took pain pills to just to be able to sleep. Then the next 2 days I felt fine. Then I ended up in the ER. I was in such pain I couldn't even drive myself. Luckily, I was taken right back. I always had great blood pressure it was textbook great. But I was in so much pain that it was 180/90. Morphine wasn't even working. It felt like taking advil for a severe migraine. Then I got an ultrasound. I knew something wrong when they kept taking pictures of the liver area. Then they came in to tell my that I gallbladder pancreatitis. The ultrasound couldn't tell how many stones I had. I had my blood work done and my lipase was in the 3,000's when it should have been in the 50's. Then my liver count was at a 6+ when it should have at a 1. I never had these problems before. I ended up having to stay in the hospital for a week. They had to wait for my numbers to go down before they could fish out my gallstones. They even did a cat scan and they thought I only had a couple. By the time they did the ERCP I had over 25 gallstones in my common bile duct.That was what was making me go Jaundice(Yellow). I could not even get anything down. The machines could not even see how many I really had. Then I was finally released from the hospital. I went to my doctor's office to make an appointment for my gallbladder removal. I was supposed to have it about 12 days later. I ended up going back to the hospital with another attack. The pancreatitis came back. They had to remove my gallbladder 2 days early. That time I was in the hospital for 4 days. Since I had been in the hospital the first time I have lost 16 pounds. I lost the first 9 pounds in the week I was in the hospital then dropped 7 more pounds the week after the hospital. Even after getting out the 2nd time. I had not gained any weight back. My stomach has shrunk but I am trying to keep it that way and not overeat. I think I was so blocked up for several years that it was really hard to lose a considerable amount of weight like when I had the lap band. Once my gallstones were out of my stomach,my stomach had gone down. I think it will be a lot easier to lose weight now because I don't have anything obstructing my important organs like the liver. So I have lost a total of 32 pounds.

I am due to have my gallbladder out next week. The pain I have been in is dreadful. Never had anything like it. I have lots of little stones apparently. I've been reading some of the comments about weight loss after the operation. I did wonder about that a lot and if I'd lose weight. Whatever, I shall just be glad to be free of the damn thing. I've been having extra strong painkillers for a while. Roll on operation, can't wait. :-D

Dear Guest;
I know exactly what your talking about, the pain is excruciating & yes Child Birth is preferable to the pain you get with a Gallstone Attack I should know I had Three Babies without an epidural. Any-way, I still haven't had any surgery as of yet & it has been over a year since my initial attack. I was told by one Doctor that seeing as I'll be donating part of my Liver to my Sister any-way I should just wait & have that surgeon take out my Gallbladder. Ya, easy for him to say he's not the one in pain when it flares up. My Sister has given me some really good ideas on diet ("after all" she says "you got to take good care of my Liver") plus it's also helping me to shed a few pounds as well. I quit smoking a long time ago but I still crave them, so I ordered an electronic cigarette on the internet called HD SMOKE they come in different flavors & it too has also helped me curb my cravings for Chocolate & that's another plus, no-one really needs the extra fat any-way. I do have to watch how much Pork I eat, some days I can't eat any (at least not after the first few bits) because my Gallbladder is so messed up. Not having a Doctor of my own really doesn't help much either, we have moved to a new City so we don't have a Doctor here yet. I'm hoping for the best for us all. Good Luck To You Too. Sincerely;
Linda J. Wilkinson
