Hey, can anyone help me out here? I'm a 15 year old male that's never smoked before, and about four days ago I woke up and my tongue was in quite a bit of pain. I examined it, and on the right side, toward the farthest back of my tongue there were a few lumps, and they were quite painful when I touched them. I read up on this today and I believe it may be just a canker sore, but I am wondering if it could be something more serious. It hurts when I move my tongue, and when I swallow, but when I rinse my mouth out with mouthwash it seems to help for about five minutes. Please, give me whatever information you can.

Regards,

Taylor

ya i been getting these off and on. They come and go i dont know what the heck they are, ive had them on the side of my tongue and on the tip. When the are real sore its when they are white and you can see them. when they are healing the white starts to fade and the soreness goes down. and they start to turn back to normal color but still remain there. not fully gone. I recently noticed it was nearly gone and when i went to bed i was having a beer and before bed doing homework..then it got late and couldn't sleep so i took a xanax to help go to sleep....i woke up in the middle of night and it was back, then i brushed and mouthwashes and even swished peroxide around, then went back to bed and when i woke up in morning it was back to the normal spot before the xanx and sleep. I been taking 1000mg of vitimin c and brushing constantly. This is actually the longest and worse case i ever had. Usually they would disapear in a day or two. Its been like a week and they wont go fully away. All i know is that i didnt' get a lot of sleep one night so i was real tired....i think that left my immune system weak. I don't think these things are herpes or anything cause it would spread....but i am worried it could be something like a virus because i have gotten it off and on for a long time......i really think it has to do with stresss. but it does cause a wierd taste i really think its a reaction from a combination of things.....people and not STD. I could write on and on about this

Actually I have one now. And it IS annoying. They are called Lye Bumps or a.k.a "Lie Bumps" There is no cure for them. So, going to the doctor will be a waste of time. No one has found out what causes them yet. But, there are some home remedies that people use to get rid of the soreness. Try spraying it with throat spray or make your own mouthwash. Use Listerine. That's what I use. So, don't freak out! It's not cancer or anything. Everyone gets them!

I have one of these white bumps on the tip of my tongue. I think its caused by eating too much sugar or something. I know that you should NOT try to pop it, bit it off or anything. Im still not sure exactly how you get them and how to get rid of them, but i would just leave it alone and it will go away within a couple of days.

It does have to do with fatty foods, but it also has to do with infections, germs, and viruses. If you got the bumps without getting sick (sore throat, swollen glands.... maybe a fever), then you have a pretty decent immune system. If you did get sick, its time to start being healthier.
Summer is around the corner, dont forget to stay hydrated....its gonna be brutal. ;-)

It is also a sign of hyperglycemia. Use less sugar in your coffee and eat less junk food. Most importantly, get your blood to flow and raise your heart beat at least once every other day. Run in place for a minute. Thats all it takes.

Remember: Doing your own research is good, but not everything is cancer. Dont let these people scare you.

I have had these small pimple like bumps several times before. They aren't really anything to worry about. I usually just take a toothbrush to them when I'm brushing and they go away.

Right now, I have a spot on the right side of my tongue which gets sore every now and then. Sometimes it turns white but doesn't make a bump or anything - just a tiny, uneven patch. But I have tried Scope, Mouth Sore Rinse, salt water... everything and nothing makes it go away. It's always there but sometimes more visible than others. Had it for maybe a month.

Does anyone know what this could be?
