I have the same thing, but they're tiny white and/or red bumps all over the tongue, and they get bigger towards the back of the tongue, and they're the same size on both sides of the tongue...I've researched this and I think they're Lie Bumps or something.... I hope that it isn't too serious and it goes away after taking some home remedies like the warm salt water, and B vitamins, and stay away from sweet, sour, salty, acidic foods....

I had to go to the hospital last night because I have tonsillitis and the infection spread to my tongue and caused the white bumps. I even had a temperature of 103. I didnt even realize how sick I was. So my advice is to take your temperature and see a doctor. Dont peel them cuz they multiply and its even more painful. I made the mistake of nail clipping them.

I have one of these at the moment, and, after using some Blistex for my chapped lips, I noticed something strange. I licked my lips to get them wet. The swollen bud touched the Blistex and hurt less after a minute. I dried off that spot of my tongue and put more on it. It hurt a whole lot less.

I too have a white spot at the end of my tongue that is very painful. It comes and goes every couple days to a week. It's not cancer, because cancer doesn't flare up then go away in a few days. Mine I think came from nicotine lozenges. Any way my doctor saw it today and was not concerned. Mine is not a bump, something you could cut off, mine looks more like a white pimple/infection thingy that you could squeeze. Hope this helps.......Jim

I usually have them from time to time. Whoever mentioned to use half peroxide and half water suggested a good thing. However, as for me I just rub a little piece of lime or lemon on them, it will sting a little bit, then the citrus numb the pain. Believe it or not by the next day they were gone. I didn t feel anything.

You can use all of these ways, but the most effective way I've seen so far is just pulling them off.

It hurts like a b****r for days. I'd rather just have a quick burst of immense pain than having irritating pain for days upon days. It usually starts off as one little spot, and as it gets irritated, and messed with, it spreads. It's hard to get them off, for some. But if you attempt to pluck it off, you need to do it quickly. Once you start with the process, if you stop, it's only going to get worse. So it's better to catch it earlier on. If you'd like, you can numb it beforehand. This just seems to be the easiest remedy for me. Salt water works as well.

In my youth when I got these little white pest on my tongue I used a finger nail clipper and cut them off. Sure hurt like hell but relieve the pain almost instantly. Have to put up with a pit of blood but it stops by putting presure on the sore with a cloth. I haven't had them for years but right now at 65 I got the little buggers. Seriously thinking of getting the clippers out.

Holy c**p, I have it real bad right now for the first time ever, which is why I am looking up information on the subject. For the first time ever I started chewing cinnamon gum just a few days ago.

I take folic acid when it happens which usually relieves the symptoms pretty quickly.

I agree, I, my doctor did something similar. My doctor told me most of the time it is a taste bud that is infected or damaged and most likely would never heal. And that if it doesn't go away cutting it off is the best idea, he used something similar to a nail clipper to cut it off. I wasn't given any pain medication, it hurt when he did it but I felt immediately better right after it was removed. Since then I get these infected/damaged taste buds around once a year, most likely due to a food allergy I haven't pinned pointed yet. I just use a disinfected clipper and cut them off before it gets bad. I haven't had issues since and the pain is gone as soon as they are off. I wouldn't recommend this if you medical issues of any kind, go to your dentist or doctor to get it done right, this method just happens to work for me.

I think it might help if I amputate it

OMG!! between the warm salt water and the chloreseptic... it worked like a charm. My 9 year old woke up screaming from the pain at 12:30am. I read a couple of other blogs before reading this one and ran to the medicine cabinet to get the chloreseptic and warm salt water. i gave her the combination at 1:15am. It is now 1:34am, and my little girl is sound asleep. Thank you !!! Thank you!!! Thank you!!!
