Hi Ladies, I am 60 and have had some small outbreaks of this rash but this year, wooo buddy did I get a rash. I have always just used deoderant under my breasts in hot weather to help but this time I think the I was allergic to a new one I tried and got a really bad rash. I tried apple cider vinegar and witch hazel but didn't get good results with either of those. It was really red, itchy, and hurting so while in the shower I thought my dandruff shampoo might help with the itching. I used Head and Shoulders and it worked. It has zinc in it and sure enogh it dried it a bit and stopped the itching. Then I made a tea out of a few capsules of Goldenseal and have been dapping in on. Goldenseal is a natural anti-biotic that dries up pus when you take it internally and is good for fighing infections topically as well. So, that is working for me. I am on the mend. I will wash it with the shampoo from now on every night until it is gone and then use it from time to time just to clean it good. Hope this helps.

Hi Ladies,

I am 60 and have had small bouts with this problem over the years but woo buddy did I get one this year.  I usually just use deoderant under my breast to keep them from getting irratated but I guess I was allergic to a new deoderant I tried and got really red, inflamed, itchy, and painful.  I tried apple cider vinegar and witch hazel but didn't get good results.  I was in the shower and it was really hurting so I thought I would try my dandruff shampoo to try and stop the itching.  Well, it worked.  I used Head and Shoulders.  It has zinc in it and it dried it a bit and stopped the itching.  I made a tea out of a few capsules of Goldenseal and have beed dabbing it on a few times a day.  Goldenseal is a natural anti-biotic and will stain you fingers yellow.  So it is starting to heal and I will use the shampoo every night till it goes away and every now and then to keep it clean and dry.  Hope this helps someone.

If you have had the rash a year that is something to be concerned about. Have you told your doctor that it's been a year now? - I am a 52 and for the first time have a rash under one breast. These weird little red dots that have now clustered into an area about 3 x 3. I am trying to get away from products containing any metals like Aluminum, so I had stopped using Arrid under my breasts, and tried out Toms for a few weeks. What was a huge mistake! I think I'm going to try out the apple cider vinegar remedy first. I don't think it's a yeas infection because I just finished a run on Difulcan a few weeks ago. If the patches expand beyond what they are now after using vinegar, I will probably start using rubbing alcohol. I have been using the gym sock idea but while it relieves the pressure, it isn't doing much to reduce the pain.

Hey~ if it's sweat-related, try using a body wash that contains salicylic acid; that will keep the pimples at bay~ if you're red and splotchy, try soaking in a tub full of Aveeno to soothe the itching. As for the popped zits that won't heal, I'd see your doc to rule out a skin infection.

Hello all ...I too have very large breast. I never had a problem until I developed Lymphodema. Since then, anywhere there is a crease..under breasts, either side of groin, butt crack..they all rash up, crack, bleed, itch, and hurt like heck. :'(  I have tried Neosporin, bad idea..it actually burned my skin. I have tried the medicated baby powder...but so far the only thing that seems to help heal is 'Desotin' (baby rash ointment/paste)..it has the zinc in it to dry up the rash, and it seals the effected area so it can heal. This is a little trick I learned from my doc that treats me for my Lymphodema (Secondary)...it also works on infected cuts, etc..clean, apply neosporin take a gause bandage and completly cover in desotin. Then secure it in place...Hope this helps...and I really wish there was a long term cure cause as you know...this is getting old. >:(  Also, thanks for the apple cider idea..buying some in the morning! XD

Hi same here; HOWEVER, once it itched CONSTANTLY, stunk (yeasty/vinegar-y, etc.) and turned SCARLET, I was, at that point nearly mad with agony.

I was visiting my doctor's office and she gave me Gold Bond Baby Powder.  It did nothing.

Finally, at work, an employee who has excema gave me a squirt of her medicine.  It was the FIRST relief I had in months and months.  Of course, it was a temp job; I left, and, of course, she had a PRESCRIPTION for it.  So I was out of luck.

I went back to my memories.  What did my mother use for my brother's SERIOUS diaper rash? What were the active ingredients in the excema medicine that my co-worker had?

DESITIN; and ZINC.

Desitin smells like HELL but it was NOTHING compared to the pain I was experiencing. I got the Desitin, applied it two nights in a row. And VOILA! Rash gone. Gone. Gone.

The rash comes back periodically but never with the rage it had.  Just smear on some more and you're good to go!  Smelly, but itchy, painless, and stinky-free.

I hope you will quickly abandon the alcohol treatment, as it causes skin breakdown. Your problem's not likely with bacteria, but alcohol will do more damage than good.

As a community nurse, i see it all the time. It's basically the fact that some of us sweat at different rate than the other. At times, we sweat a lot more that it could evaporates, thus the moisture first causes redness, then iritation and finally excoriation if not treated.

All treatment work differently with each person - what worked with one person may not work with another.

If and when  possible exposed your breast to air - lay on bed and lift your breast.

Use topical antifungal cream sparingly.

Use some combine dressing or nappy liner under your breast and change as necessary when it moisty

Good luckDI

I tried the vinegar and I tried the alcohol but found out it was in fact a yeast infection. It took a few weeks after showers of adding a nice layer of external Miconozole cream (that came in the box with internal cream) on the area just before putting on my usual Sure deodorant/anti-persperant and Vagisil powder under my breasts. It started to go away faster when I cleaned the patch with apple vinegar before the rest of this routine. When I stopped using the cream for a week, it came back.. and this time I was faithful to use the apple vinegar until it was gone for sure. Everyone is different.. I can only tell you what finally worked for me.

The very best cure for this is antiperspirant /deodorant, right under and between the breasts. Feels better immediately and the rash goes away within hours. i have had these many times, and sometimes to the point of cracking and peeling. But once I started applying deodorant, it stopped. Using some there as a preventative is good too. gnerally helps with odor as well.

I tried the cider vinegar under the breast and it's working! Unbelievable, but then my mom swore cider vinegar would cure almost anything.
