I have been getting this on and off for the last year or two. It's awful!! Feels like a leg cramp by right under my upper ribs on the right side. Only stretching out helps it. What the heck?

I have the exact same symptoms when I try and touch my toes. The cramp is immediately below my rib cage on the right side and it does require me to stretch it out before it subsides. After reading all these comments I'm still not sure what could be causing this, because I drink too much (maybe it's my liver), I'm overweight and carry about 30 extra pounds around my middle so perhaps cutting back on the booze and losing weight will do the trick, but others on this site have posted that they aren't overweight so that may have nothing to do with it. I do know I have a floating rib which has caused me a some back pain, so I'm beginning to suspect that it may be the cause here too. I had been to multiple doctors, chiropractors, and physical therapists and no one ever caught the floating rib until a holistic doctor finally identified it when I mentioned to her that I also have minor scoliosis, but that is more of an upper back problem so I really think it may be the rib shifting that is causing the cramp like feeling.

What is the matter with you people?Do you think reading a book on 'how to fly' in any way qualifies you to sit in a cockpit and fly the airplane? How stupid you all are.See your doctor and stop asking strangers what's wrong with you!

Most of us have asked doctors, and they cannot pin point what is causing this. No, we are not MDs, just people scared sharing thoughts as it helps to know you are not alone when worried about something. Sorry you are so full of anger you felt a need to post your statement.

I have read this thread and I am so grateful that I did. I have exactly the same symptoms, pain on left side abdomen under ribs when bending over. It's usually excruciating but stops after approx 1 minute of straightening up. This has been happening for a couple of years. I looked for this thread because it has got worse, and now feels bruised all the time and has woken me up at night. I don't know if my info will help anyone, I have fibromyalgia. Until this pain started getting worse I assumed this pain was Costo-Chondritis, which my GP diagnosed me with a year ago. I am not so sure now, but hope my post helps someone out there.

I've had this same thing since I had my twins almost two years ago and the baby moving is EXACTLY how I describe it.... It seems to come with bending/straining of abdominal muscles and I immediately stand up or lay back to straighten my body out when it happens as it's the only thing that makes it go away. I've been to two doctors, had scans, still no answers to what it is.
