Wow, I didn't know a lot of people do this :-D we should have a dandruff lovers meetup / convention. We'll all scrub and compare flakes, maybe scratch each other's heads, collect flakes and combine them together. Meetup and socialize with fellow scrubbers. Also I wouldn't mind dating a fellow scrubber!

btw, don't you just LOVE it when you're trying to pry out a huge flake with your fingernail and it makes that "tick tick tick" sound? I love it!!

I came to a conclusion that this is an awesome addiction. YOU, my friends are not the only one and don't be ashamed of this obsession. United we stand and we should support each other!!

I am a 17 year old girl and I have this problem too! I grow my nails really long so I can scratch harder! Then I collect the dandruff and put it on to my iPhone so I can watch it. Then I swipe my fingers through it so it all collects on my finger. It's soothing.

i could do with a nice young woman with long nails to do that for me!! Male,37 from West yorkshire. Dating for dandruff lovers as someone said earlier, now that is a good idea!

It stings like mad if you have scabs on your head with doing too much dandruff searching using your nails, especially if you then spray your hair with hairspray, in a way i like the feeling as i then rub the area with an ice cube that instantly turns the red raw pain to a numb sensation.  I found the king of dandruff flakes today, it  was half the size of my finger nail and had a nice brown tint to it.  (tried blood covering)   Ive kept it in a pot for a keepsake!

My name is Bernie, and I am an obsessive dandruff harvester.  I started to scratch my head in high school when stressed about exams.  Around this time, I began to collect and sort my flakes, according to size and quality.  Whilst the bulk of my collection was filled with bog-standard noggin dust, I had eventually accumulated a shot glass of "Premium Scratchings"; each of which had to have a diameter of at least 1.3 cm in order to make the grade.  I considered them the creme de la creme of my dead head detritus and enjoyed observing them under my microscope whilst masturbating.

It hadn't occurred to me that my behavior may be considered unusual until my colleague at work complained that the AC system within the office was inadvertently wafting my snow-drift onto his freshly-polished shoes - it was only then that I was able to admit I had a problem; my clawing addiction was taking over my life, and it was time to do something about it.

I searched high and low for an answer but it appeared to be all in vain.  Western medicine had failed me (my GP told me to "quit whining") and and I was close to giving up until a chance encounter whilst holidaying in Swaziland changed my life forever..

On the 30th November 2010 I met Ibrahima Shine, a kind and gentle elder, on a bus between Big Bend and Mbabane.Little did I know he would prove to be my salvation.Sitting behind me, he must have noticed the accumulation of cranial confetti; he tapped me on the shoulder and offered the following sagely advice:

"Hear me now, son.  Place dem 'druffs in a bowl of milk, and soak dem in dem fridge overnight.

In dem morning, heat da gruel up good n hot wid dem ickle bit apple juice.Den you gon have to eat dat porridge, y'hear?"

To this day, I will never forget how shocked I was to hear his advice.  Nonetheless, I was desperate enough to try it..

As of the time of writing, I have been scratch-free for 2 years.  If you are looking for ways in which to overcome this compulsive behavior, then please feel free to follow my lead.

I always thought I was the only one in the world addicted to scratching my head. Thanks everybody for your ideas and experiences about how to solve the problem. I'll try them out and see if it helps. Thanks

Apparently there is something on utube with a doctor guy walking round a supermarket talking about the best product for clearing dandruff, he clearly states that as mouthwash kills yeast in your mouth so promotes healthy a mouth the same applies for clearing the yeast that cause dandruff. Ive tried using mouthwash to wash my hair, it does sting a bit but using normal shampoo also stings when it touches my head scabs, If in doubt take some ice cubes with you to the bathroom if you find it stings too much. Let me know how you get on. Regards.
