To the above, have you tried taking photos of your falling dandruff in a dark room??? It makes for very ghostly orbs!! I have brown dots in the middle of some of my dandruff flakes ( dried blood) I work as a chef at a local pub and often shake my dandruff flakes over food, the funny thing is my customers always praise my food, I just have to make sure no loose hair strands end up in the food.

I am South Korean and I am a girl:) I was born in Australia, spent my entire childhood in Europe and I've lived in South Korea for 4 years (10years old-14years old). My habit started when I lived in South Korea. I now live in Australia for more than 3 years.
[Answer]
1. I've had this habit since year 5ish, 6ish and I'm currently in year 12 now.
2. Yes, as described above.
3. I have experienced depression a few times. I am not sure if this was the cause but I have noticed I would do this habit more often and intensely when I get stressed.
4. I am not sure but I know that it's quite satisfying.
5. In my case, I never did it because my head itched. It''s most of the times not itchy at all.
6. Not sad but not satisfied. When I don't find any I tend to run my fingers through my hair till I find them.

Additional fact
+ I do it even if starts to bleed a little.
+ I am ashamed of it so I don't usually do it if I'm with other people. If I do it when I am with other people I'm likely to do it without knowing it.

I used to do this too, to my Mum because she used to get it quite bad! Now I just scrape my own with a comb in the mirror. My Niece has also 'inherited' my fascination for 'dandruff scratting', as we all call it. It's just a really satisfying feeling! I'm guessing that it's some kind of stress reliever, too.

Take some photos of your dandruff falling in a dark room using a camera with a flash ( not mobile phone as not really effective) you will see ghostly orbs!! all the best from a fellow dandruff fan.

The Dandruff chef is taking orders for Xmas meals at the Noble comb in Shipley, enjoy your meal with us, most meals served with a drizzle topping of dandruff, freshly farmed from my very own head. Book early to avoid disappointment.

HOLY c**p! I cannot believe how many people like dandruff but hate the itch. Me too! I thought I was the only person on earth and everyone just looked at me strangely when I itched my hair. The itch for me gets worst at night and I always wash my hair. Everytime I finish washing my hair it goes away, then comes back with even bigger dandruff flakes! I have a question, when you itch your scalpel a lot and dandruff fall, did you ever notice a flake with a spot of blood on it?

I do the exact same thing

Oh yes, I get flakes with brown/ red dots in the middle (dried blood) Im the dandruff chef and my customers give good feedback on my food, it must be my secret toppings of freshly shaken dandruff on their food that brings out the flavour.

I usually scratch near the sides and nape of my head. I love when I feel bigger "pieces" of dandruff that I can scrape off and look at after pulling it out of my hair. I don't know why I started. I first started having dandruff/dry scalp a couple years ago but its not so bad that you can see it on my clothing (usually). I started to pick the dandruff off my scalp and sometimes I do it so much that my scalp turns red/painful/bleeds. When I don't have any dandruff to scrape off I usually still lightly scratch those areas. I didn't think it was an obsessive thing until I was in class and felt the urge to pick my scalp but couldn't because there were many people around me.

i use head and shoulders! once-twice a week never more, it dries out my hair if i use it too much. It works for me, but it could be different for others.
