I had to take my laptop for repair ( I stayed while he had a look) he took the laptop apart, when he removed the keypad panel there were loads of my dandruff flakes underneath it, the guy commented on the amount of dust and blew it away, his work bench was on his dinner table as he runs his business from home. How my flakes got under the panel I don't know.
Wow, to see how many other people do this, I don't know if I should feel comforted or sad lol. My deal is, I don't scratch for one particular thing but mostly searching my scalp for dirt. I've done this for so long that it's second nature for me now but I've only recently realized how bad it's gotten because my hair is thinning and scalp is so tender. I've tried to get anxiety meds for it but all they want to give me is SSRI antidepressants, of course. I explained I'm in now way depressed, I just have anxiety since late childhood, but they didn't care. It's the SSRI makers that pay the biggest cuts to the doctors. I don't know what else to do. Much love to everyone out there trying to deal with this.
I just had my hair cut today and yet again my hairdresser caught one of my healed up head scabs ( it was a raised area though) the feeling of her comb ripping off my scab was unreal, my hairdresser wasn't even aware, when she put gel and hairspray on at the end it stung like mad but I loved the feeling.
Nope, it's all white,
I love dandruff and also seeing it on other people, but my obsession with dandruff took I turn for the worse last year, I was on the bus going to work and the elderly chap in front of me had a severe case of dandruff, even though his hair was greying I good see his dandruff, I couldn't stop myself from getting a pen out of my pocket and scratching his head with it, I am a 44 year old guy and got a right telling off from the old chap, when I explained that I was " removing" a few flakes I seriously thought he was going to hit me.
Has this helped?
I think I kind of like scratching off the dandruff!! I guess it is sort of soothing for me. i don't think it's good for my scalp and truly I would like to be able to stop.
What is someway I can stop?

My dad who is 64 has dandruff ( like me) however he only washes his hair every 4 to 5 weeks ( has baths though) I love getting a pen and flicking the dandruff out of his hair, my dads hair also smells like a wet dog, this might be to do with not washing his hair often?
I started this habit when I was around 5-7 years old. It started when I lived in Florida. I remember sand always being in my hair and I would scratch it out and it was so satisfying even at such a young age. I would actually put sand in my hair just to dig it out. And then after I moved it went away until I was around maybe 13 or so and its been going on ever since.
I did move around allot as a child.
I pick with a needle. It satisfies me when I get a large flake of dandruff idk why.. It just does and I can spend hours doing it.
I'll do it even when my head isn't itchy it doesn't matter to me.
I actually try to get dandruff on my scalp so that I can pick it.
I suffer from manic depressive disorder.

OMG me too I love watching the flakes fall off my head but some don't fall off that's the problem I want to learn how to stop my habit and get rid of dandruff flakes.
Just learn to love your dandruff, my laptop keyboard is covered with the little buggers!
How are my fellow members doing with their dandruff in the summer heat?
I have found that if I don't wash my hair for a week my dandruff smells like wet dogs.

I'm just addicted to scratching my dandruff , I think it comes from my mom who did this previously from me . But I did notice that I started doing it more after my younger half sister was born . So iv come to belive it is caused by stress. But I don't have a problem with it , what I do have a problem with is , I think I'm scratching off some of my hair. When I took a shower after scratching my scalp that day , I ran my fingers through my hair and more than a few strands came off . I'm mortified , I do t want to loose my hair . So this concludes it I need a new hobby.

wow, i genuinely thought i was the only one, ive been doing this since i was around 10, im 18. its so satisfying seeing all the snowflakes hit the table or surface. once my hair grows i start using more sharper objects to scratch my scalp, like scissors, or a pen, I know this is dangerous, but i don't do it till my scalp bleed. i usually do this when i read, or study. i don't even notice it until i see my page full of dandruff. i usually try to control my self not to do it around other people, but if i do i don't even notice.
my keyboard is filled with dandruff, last time i cleaned the space underneath the keys, it's full of white flakes.
i also usually do it on my phone screen, until the whole screen if covered in my dandruff then i make a little pile, and sprinkle them on the floor or sink.
i don't know why it's so addicting, i do want to stop as it makes my hair thinner, and look more damaged :(
