Ive had problem with my hemorrhoids for years now...I'm currently 24 male, Ive been to the hospital about this problem since I was like 15 or so... every time I'd use the toilet my hemorrhoid was always thrombosed...Still they never wanted to do surgery or the banding so I've lived like that for years having it come out every time I used the toilet...So I've got my banding done on 9/08/10 and it was painless however for a few hours it was uncomfortable (no pain) i had bowel movements but couldn't pass gas that's about it and i didn't have trouble peeing as many of you did...I did research on this to see how long it would take to fall off and at minimum I saw 2 days...While I had mine on for a few hours after getting done the next day when I had to use the toilet I noticed the bands came off...so I was like damn maybe they slipped but my hemorrhoid didn't come out but I still had the same feeling as I did when ever I use the toilet. I went back to the hospital on 9/13/10 to tell them the hemorrhoid slipped and when they checked they said the hemorrhoid came off and there was a fresh scar in the area...during the time from the 8th-13th my hemorrhoid never came out but it still felt like it was still there(no pain well I should say less pain) usually after using the toilet I'd lay down for an hour for the hemorrhoid to go back up by itself but as of lately I can move freely and sit after pooping if I want...It's only been a week and I'm happy about the results but the hemorrhoid feeling is still there and I hope that the other ones doesn't bother me...

I kinda still find it hard to believe it came off in less than 24 hours I hope the doctors wasn't lying to me...

hello to all the hemmorhoid sufferers! yes a big pain in the @#%!! i had the procedure done twice over the last two months. the first time i had 3 hemmorhoids banded. i had to take stronger pain killers than what the doctor reccomended for about 4 days. right after the procedure you feel as if you have to have a bowel movement, that scared me bc i thought my body was rejecting the band. i did go to the restroom and had a bowel movement then laid down to relax. the pain meds kicked in then i laid down for a couple of hours. i did take a few days off work, just to make sure everything was ok. i did have some light bleeding for a few days and some pain upon defecation. i must say after about 5 days i was back to normal! i could not believe it! i was my normal self. after many many years of agonizing pain. during my menstral period i did have some pain, for some reason my hemmorhoids act up during my menstral cycle. nothing compared to the pain i had before the banding. anyway i went for a check up a month later. discussed how i went with the doctor and he was surprised how my personality had changed since i was feeling much better. he did another exam and found 2 other hemmorhoids and asked me if i wanted to have them banded as well. i agreed because i want to try to get pregnant asap. unfortunately the second time around was awful, i have not been normal since. for example, after my bowel movements in the morning a couple of hours later i have this throbbing pain in my anal area. sometimes i have to have another bowel movement others i do not. i also had to take strong pain killers for an entire week after the second banding. today, unfortunately i have some serious hemmorhaging!! i have an appointment tomorrow with the doctor..... i am quite anxious.... hopefully i do not have to remote to have surgery. :-(

I have had banding done 4 times in 10 years and also get the need to go feeling even when its only gas there. The last couple of times I have had LACTULOSE oral solution AFTER going home..and provided one will Not be going out for the next 12 hours it is very helpful as a soft stool is less likely to present any pressure on the banding. I have found that Laevolac is best and I take it at around 6pm as it is quite quick acting and tastes like sugary syrup. The instructions on the bottle say a 5ml spoonful 5 or 6 times a day to start. I found that amount unnecessary. Too much and you will be sitting on the toilet for hours.

I had the rubber band ligation a few hours ago, and that is why i'm on here searching to find out how everyone else's pain is because I feel like i'm dying internally. I went in for a simple office visit to find out why i was bleeding from the rectum and why on any given day I was having blood and plasma looking fluids drenching my clothes. I found out that I had a very big pile/hemorrhoid inside the rectum that I couldn't see or feel but knew I had something going on. The dr told me that we're going to have to remove it without surgery and that I will experience alot of pressure afterwards. I drove home and shouldn't have... believe me the pain was so intense and I was experiencing hot/cold flashes from the pain. I have since taken prescription medicine that I had from a previous eye socket replacement surgery that inevitably caused this condition. Pain meds are a big part of getting hemorrhoids, but I had to get rid of this pain somehow. The cramping and the feeling of having to have a bowel movement while driving was overwhelming. I have since ate bananas which is for the fiber content, plus will alleviate the cramping and will enhance the smoothness of a future BM. The pain was just as severe as going through labor with a child. I am now 3 hours past the time, and 2 pain meds later and the pain is still severe. I called the dr and they said to sit in a warm/hot epson salt bath. The dr told me also that the pain wouldn't be that bad and I shouldn't make any plans for the next 3 days because i will not feel up to it. I guess if he would have told me how bad the pain was then I wouldn't have done this. Hopefully the end results are better than this experience though.

I went to the doctor because I suffer from chronic bleeding when I take a bowel movement.  I had 3 internal hemorrhoid and the doctor was nice enough to do one at a time, though one of them is small and said that it was not necessary to take out.  I got the biggest one ligated more than a month ago and it hurts like c**p.  I recall that I have the constant feeling that I want to go to bathroom.  The good thing is that the hemorrhoid came off in 5 days with minimal bleeding.  First week I felt c**p and the 2nd week I felt significantly better.  By the 4th week I still have bleeding but not as much as I used to.

The 2nd ligation wasn't so fun.  I had it done 4 days ago and some some reason she used 3 rubber bands on the same hemmoroid.  The hemmoroid came off in about 16 hours after ligation.  That's bad because there was alot of bleeding.  I went back to the doctor and she put silver nitrate on the wound which causes the skin to tighten and hurts like c**p.  I also have a good amount of blood coming out when I take a BM, though it seems to be a little less every day.  Hopefully, I can see the light in the end of tunnel for this procedure and get rid of my chronic bleeding during bowel movements.

Before you think that rubber band ligation is the worst option out there, it is actually not.  I have had external hemorrhoids taken out and I can't go to work for a week because I was at home pain with agony.  I had to take acetaminophen with codeine and I didn't really recover until 2 months later.  So rubber band ligation is probably the much less painful and cheaper option than surgery.

I had the rubber banding 3 hours ago. The doctor did 2. should be all that I need. The procedure was quick. finished in 2 minutes. I felt a suck then done. Afterwards, I had the urge to go to bathroom. Stayed there for quite a while and did have BM. I felt so uncomfortable, a lot of pressure. I managed to drive home. Then had the second BM. Sit-bath helped a bit. I wish that I had read this topic before went to the doc's office cause I said no when the nurse offered painkiller. I'm usually tolerant for pain. but this pain is continus and very uncomfy. I have to get the med.

Hi, just got banded yesterday afternoon and all was fine. But now, on the second day the pain is moderate and I can't sleep. The pain also extends to my right testicle. Weird.
My doc won't be in over the weekend. Just wondering if this pain including the testicles is normal.

Just had the band done today! Oh my god it hurts like crazy! I will never get this done again! And wouldn't advise it to my worst enemy! ... I came here as 12 hours after the band fitting i had BM and noticed a white rubber band in the toilet and thought what a waste of time it's fell off! However by reading this thread it turns out it may of actually worked ... Either way still in pain 13 hours later! I had painless piles and wish I just left the little lump be! I would say only get this done if you are in unbearable pain!

Did your testicular pain go away? I had the banding done on 9-7-12 and still have testicular pain.

I had mine done 3 days ago. Had 4 banded under general anaesthetic. First day was awful, second day not so bad, today is back to awful. I stopped bleeding in BM on second day, today is back to bleeding. I'm hoping that means it is starting to work. It hurts all the way down the back of my legs. The surgeon said It will hurt for about a week. Don't know if I would have the procedure again if I k we how much it would hurt.

I had it done early this morning on 2 internal and 1 external hemorrhoid and have not had any pain. I am not on any pain medicine. I do have a slight feeling of needing a bowel movement but it is not uncomfortable.

Hello people,

I've had a rubber band ligation 4 hors ago. When I left the hospital I felt as if I wanted to have a BM and hardly reached home. My Dr said nothing about pain or anything else. The nurse told me to get some paracetamol. I asked Dr if I would have pain later in which he replied "shouldn't be any pain" and even asked the nurse why she advised me to get the paracetamol. What kind of Dr is it? I have a very strong pain now and still have a feeling to have a BM. I had one BM and it made things even worse. The pain became stronger. My English is not good and during the appointment with the dr I didn't even know what the rubber band ligation is. He asked me while examining me if I would like him to put a rubber band there. I said I don't know and wasn't thinking about asking what it is was as the examining was very uncomfortable and I wanted it to finish ASAP. He told me it would stop bleeding, itching etc. so I said yes. If only I knew what it was at that time I would have taken some time to think about it. My advice to everybody is - always ask your doctor if you don't know something in any circumstances.

I hope I did the right thing and the pain, the uncomfortable feeling and the haemorrhoid will disappear very soon.
