allergic to most antibiotics

Hi, I am allergic to most antibiotics, so when I get an infection it’s almost impossible to get a medicine for me. Even when I get a safe antibiotic, I always take it with fear of having allergy or side effects. Is there any other option for me, except antibiotics?

Hi singingdorothy5,I'd like to know the books on herbal alternatives to antiviotics you have. My 28 year old daughter is finding she is also allergic to all antibiotics she has been on over the last few years and the reactions are getting worse. She does not have insurance but goes to a low cost clinic near her home. I'm not sure how helpful they will be going forward with any solution so I feel we are on our own to research this. Thank you.
Me too I end up in the emergency with arrithmia so do not go near them. I also have bad reactions to foods its like being an alien! But I am still looking for answers
would be interested in knowing the name of the doctor in the New York area who treats drug allergies.
We took my son, who was allergic to all antibiotics, to an well-known acupunturist in Plano, Texas. She also did the Biogenergetic Intolerance Elimination. Because she did both therapies, I am not sure which worked, but he can now take one antibiotic (Omnicef). Omnicef was my son's lowest allergy level with the side efect being mild hives only. Now, he can take Omnicef!!!! I am so grateful, and I have to admit that originally I thought both were way-out solutions, but felt really desperate. Now, I think it was worth the time and money (around $400 total without insurance) Neither was painful, and we had to save to pay for it, but I would definitely do it again. The acupuncturist said that we could continue and might have further positive results. Just thought I'd share some positive news to give hope. Blessings to you all.
What you do is get your doctor to check you into the hospital and they give you the medicine you need plus a potent mix of allergy medications and knock you out. Thats how my doctor has taken care of me because I have the same problem.
My 19 year old daughter is allergic too all the antibiotics you mention. Havve you had found out any new information?
most antibiotics cause me rashes $ diziness & uneven heart beat what would be the best type for this problem
I would try and find a natural doctor. I live in the pittsburgh area and I just found one in the North Hills area. I also am allergic to all antibiotics. Sulfar, codiene and very sensitive to narcotics. I will let you know what I find out. I recently started taking oil of oregano. I did some research and found out its good for sinus infectons. Two drops every 6 hrs. I put it in orange juice because it tastes yucky. I do feel better.
hey everybody, when Western medicine can't help you turn to alternative remedies: or even Holistic Allergy medicine. I was having reactions to antibiotics as well, doctors didn't know what to do with me...then I got some holistic allergy treatments. It's called Bioenergetic Intolerance Elimination. These treatments, combined with detox ionic foot spas, have greatly improved my health. I've been treated for all sorts of allergies, with success! I am hoping these treatments will also help with my antibiotic allergies, and why not? It has helped with other allergies. GET TREATED FOR A MOLD ALLERGY. Many antibiotics are derived from mold, so chances are you are also allergic to mold. Most doctors probably would not suggest or even know about B.I.E., as they are so conservative.... stay hopeful though. the solution is probably much simpler than you think.
i am to allergy to all antibiotics, pencillin, the only antibiotic left to me ciproflaxin but last time i use it i think my immune system startedto fight this antibiotic and began to allergy in my last medicine. So i thought there is no more medicine for me. But I discover one last medicine in this Earth, without allergic reaction, more powerful than all medicine that I taste, more effective than all medicine that I am allergic with if you want to know this last medicine. Please email me and I will send you my book for free.  ***this post is edited by moderator *** *** private e-mails not allowed*** Please read our Terms of Use
I am allergic to antibiotics.  By the 3rd day I experience a severe sunburn type rash all over my face and neck. My scalp itches and flakes, my face then dries and flakes. I also feel like something is crawling under my skin on my scalp, face, arms, hands, and neck.  Sometimes the rash extends to my arms and hands.  Many times I have resorted to glopping Noxema on my face and letting it soak in to feel "relief" from the burning sensation on my face. I have not been able to finish an antibiotic for years. In January 2011 I fell on ice and bruised my buttocks.  A small bruise formed and in about 2 weeks it was gone.  In June the bruise reappeared but started to "fill up" and it was hot to the touch. After many doctor visits to my primary care physician and several antibiotics later (all that resulted in an allergic reaction)..I was referred to a surgeon.  The "lesion" as they called it opened up 3 times between June and November gushing blood and puss. By Novemberthe lesion was the size of a golfball. In December 2012 I had surgery.  A small incision was  made to drain it and cut out a small cyst.  The doctor stated he would pump a small dose of antibiotic into my IV and that I would not experience any reaction because it would be such a small dose. Well 3 days after surgery I had a reaction. Amazingly the incision area began healing nicely and I felt relieved.  A few weeks ago I began noticing my incision area started to feel a little raised and was telling myself it just didn't feel like it was healing properly.  Last night the area was turning red and irritated.  In less than 24 hours it is now reddish/purple..hot to the touch..raised...and very sore. My surgeon cannot see me till next week. My clothes rubbing against it irritates is as does sitting or laying. I am shocked that 6months after surgery it is beginning again and I fear I will not find relief since I cannot take antibiotics.
Go directly to the ER. Tell them you are allergic. Give them a history. Ask to see an Infectious Diseases doctor. No one else. They will treat you as needed with an antibiotic you are not sensitive to, or admit you to the hospital and treat your infection using 'rapid desensitization' with the actual drug you need to fight the infection.
Have you ever tried Nitrofurantoin Mono for a bladder infection? I am allergic to most antibiotics, and my doctor let me try this. (I had e coli in my urine) I did ok with it. I just made sure I drank a TON of water while on it. I hope it helps :) Now I have an ear infection I'm trying to wait out, because I suffer from Tinnitus and cannot take penicillin, sulfa, or cephalosporins. If anyone knows of a natural remedy that works, please post a response.
I totally relate. I've had the identical experience you mention. Now that I read your post, I feel that I'm not alone with this problem. Thank you so much.
