I'm having a similar problem. I've had what they are saying is a fissure for months. It will not heal.. I'm in pain and tired of it all. I do not get blood on the toilet paper... I do not just have pain with bowel movement so I really am having a hard time believing this is just a fissure but... I'm heading back to gi at the end of the month. I hope your situation gets rectified. Cause this c**p is a true pain in the a--

How was the pain immediately after surgery?

I found iodine ointment to be almost like a wonder drug (thanks Amazon Prime for the speedy delivery!) After a BM, I use baby wipes - then witch hazel wipes - then pat dry and add iodine ointment (it kills bacteria and is what hospitals use to sterilize). I also put the iodine on a suppository, which melts inside and helps to coat the area and prevent further tearing. Sometimes I make suppositories from coconut oil, which I store in my freezer, the cool oil feels wonderful when your bum is on fire.

I am a 20 yr old male, 144 lbs, 5'7 and I too am experiencing this. Mine is probably the most painful but not as constant. I sometimes have constipation and sometimes I would get an anal fissure or hemmorhoids. The pain for me is so excruciating that if it wasn't for my strong will, I would probably be passed out with a pool of blood lying beside me. I haven't tried many methods but one thing to do is make sure you sit down and keep your ass spread out as that will allow air to sooth the pain. If you have an a/c then putting your anus in front of it will temporarily alleviate the pain. Also something extrwmely important is to take pain reliever pills as this will drastically reduce the amount of pain your body can take. Go to see a doctor when you are able to.

I have been dealing with them for 2 yrs now and the pain is crazy . I believe the pain was the reason I had a Heart attack. I take 4 pills a night to make stool softer but still hurts like hell . Burning feeling for hrs it's like someone put lemon juice on a 100 paper cuts. I have tried all creams and salt baths but nothing works . Dr has given me stuff to clean me out so they can do a test but the jucie and pills they give me don't work so haven't been able to have test done . Every day when it's time to head to bathroom my body shakes and I go in to a cold sweat just from the pain . And 2 yrs of this is crazy . And thru day o get sharp pain that makes me jump out of my seat . And the pain makes me very moody . I need help

I had a baby a little over a year ago and the lazy doctor messed up an episiotomy cutting all the way through to my rectum and then sewed it back crooked, so I don't know if what I have is TECHNICALLY an anal fissure or I just had all the symptoms of it. I found that the only thing that worked and actually healed it was Dr. Wheatgrass ointment. It's not the cheapest item around, but it's worth every single penny. I can't recommend it enough. I went from labor like pain every time I had a BM to 100% completely normal.

I have the same problem plus a hemorrhoid! I'm only able to poop after a bath for 20 min and I'm screaming! My stool is soft under control so I stopped bleeding for 4 days and I'm the fifth day I couldn't make it in the bath before pooping so it tore open again so I'm back to bleeding and more pain. By the way I use nitroglycerin just before popping it helps so much and right after poop I was it off anyways!

Fissures do NOT turn into cancer. That is a complete myth. Please tell your dad to try a new doctor.

Hi, I had a fissure 4 years ago, mine was really bad. I was depressed, in pain, obsessed, and confused since my diet was good and I regularly exercised. I got the fissure 4 years ago after having a stomach bug which left me unable to eat or drink for 36 hours, I was so dehydrated, which caused my constipation. I had the fissure for about a year until I read something on a forum which changed my life and now I know I will NEVER have a fissure again. EVER!

I promise you if you do this, the pain will not only go away, but you will heal! The pain will take anything between 2 and 6 days to go away and although you think you’ve healed, you haven’t, because it can take up to three months for the fussure to heal. BUT- you will be able to have bowel movement day after day with no pain, you’ll be able to function as a normal person again, and you will be happy once again. Eventually the fissure will heal nicely.

If you imagine going to the toilet to urinate, you never push. It just flows out of you. This is what you need to do with bowel movement. NEVER PUSH, not even just a bit. Let it come out of you just like when you urinate.

To get soft, forget fibre and drinking plenty of water (this will help avoiding a fissure, not curing a fissure) the ONLY WAY is by taking MOVICOL (MACROGOL in the US). It comes in a sachet and you mix with water. It is not a laxative, it is just softener. It won’t make you want to go, it will just make it super easy when you need to go. I used 3 a day and my stool was so soft I didn’t need to push at all. You can safely take up to 8 sachets a day- although I really don’t recommend going higher than 3. You just sit on the toilet and if you can, put a small stool below your feet so your legs are slightly raised- although this isn’t necessary. DO NOT PUSH AT ALL. Just RELAX and let your body do the work.

IT WILL TAKE 24 TO 48 HOURS FOR THE MOVICOL TO KICK IN. The first time you go to the toilet after you take movicol won’t necessarily make you soft enough. Don’t worry. It’s only the next day or day after and that’s when your life will get better. The first time you go to the toilet without pain is the best feeling ever!

Also- don’t go to the toilet unless you feel the urge. Don’t sit on the toilet waiting for it to come. It will come when it’s ready.

When you finish, don’t wipe with tissue. If you have a watering can, fill it with warm water and pour on your bottom- wash as much off. You can fill up and pour again if you feel it’s not all come off, and if you have the stomach for it, use your hands to gently wipe your bottom whilst pouring the water. One hand pouring water and one hand wiping. GENTLY PAT DRY your wet bum, DO NOT WIPE!

You must use this treatment religiously for 2 months. If you stop, just one tear will set you back. Like I said earlier, although you feel you’re pain free, it doesn’t necessarily mean the fissure has healed. So your stool CANNOT be hard during the two months. Once the 2 months are up, don’t just stop taking the movicol. You need to reduce it bit by bit until your body gets used to it. And that’s when you need to make sure you’re drinking plenty of water, and eating plenty of fruit and fibre in your diet.

If you become constipated in the future and you rip again, don’t worry. You will only need to take the Movicol for 10 days. It won’t be as bad as the first time because you've not ripped multiple times and so you’ve not caused constant trauma to the tear.

I am living proof it will go, and it will go for you too. But you have to be so strict with yourself and make sure you don’t miss a day without taking the movicol.

IT WILL GO AWAY!

Good luck!

Do NOT put hydrogen peroxide up your anus!! I ignorantly tried this remedy and now have basically a chemical burn in my colon and a huge thrombosed hemorrhoid. I have set myself back who knows how long in my recovery. I should have done more research. Save yourself the agony!
