I have an allergy to chicken. It seems worse when I eat the white meat. The more of it I consume in a meal the worse I feel. Not only does it make my sinuses and lungs burn I feel bad enough for days I can't function like I have a flu but I don't.I also have that problem with eggs but I have found I am allergic to sulfur and eggs have high sulfur content. I have researched it and there are a lot of people who are allergic to chicken.People think your crazy but your not. She is probably allergic to something in the chicken that is part of it's chemistry.People are often allergic to foods that contain essential to their health. She should look at other things that make her feel bad,see if eggs or other foods containing sulfur is a problem.
Yes Rob, My allergist tested and found me to be allergic to eggs, chicken, lake trout, lobster, crab, barley and spinach. Bananas make my throat itch servery also. Latex burns my skin. Sounds like my life kinda sucks since i do like hot wings and beer. When I finally decided I liked eggs my body decided it did not!
I agree, I have chicken and egg allergies but I am also allergic to the antibiotic levaquin. I wonder if it's the antibiotics they give the chickens.
i love chicken! it's just lately that whenever i take a bite, i get serious allergies. just bad chicken probably? thank you to whoever had started this thread, all of your inputs were really helpful!
maybe it's allergies. it's uncommon but not unheard of and some allergies are acquired triggered by a lot of causes including stress, which really could mess up our immune system. i developed an allergy to cold just recently.
I guess it's really stress-related because this usually only happens whenever I pull an all nighter.
I have been allergic to all poultry since I was a kid, found out about the age of 4. It also included certain beans, all peas, and lentils. I go into sever anaphilactic shock. Of course I am also allergic to dairy and gluten. So I don't eat out to often. It is comforting to hear others that are going through it. In 40 years I have only met 2 others with the same allergy.
My wife has the chicken thing. She can get by with an egg...sometimes. However, the smallest bit of chicken starts acting on her almost immediately... working up to severe cramps. (No respiratory problems so far thank God.)
We pretty much eliminated the antibiotic connection by feeding her wild turkey. Pretty much the same result as always. So, it's the protein reaction you read about here and there.
I notice a lot of copying and pasting in articles I found on Google. Beware of websites that seem authoritative when in reality they are just opportunistic copy cats re-reporting dubious information. Your best source of info when it comes to food allergies are the armchair physicians...the folks right here who don't mind doing their homework and reporting their findings to help others. These are the folks you study...not highly overpaid anonymous "researchers" who don't have a clue, really, because they don't have a chicken in the fight.
There is no cure for chickenitis. Personally, I'm deathly allergic to chocolate and onions. Be happy that all you have to avoid is chicken fingers.
I've been allergic to chicken ever since I can remember, I didn't know it til I got older but my lips would swell and itch my throat would swell and hurt so bad for hrs I didn't know about allergic reactions as a child then I took a skin test and blood test. Now I'm getting the same way about Turkey.
ksskssI have had 3 bad episodes after eating chicken. Everytime vomiting diarrhea and stomach cramps sweating. Last episode I passed out and blood shot eyes. No more chicken for me
Not true, unfertilized are a different chemical makeup according to my doctor. I can eat eggs with no adverse affects.. However, if I eat chicken in any form, baked, broiled grilled, spiced, no spices.. I gwt violently ill
Thank you for posting. 5 different times, I have vomited immediately after eatting chicken, 1 time salmon. It just happened again a few nights ago and I have decided that I need to do some homework. An allergy sounds like the most reasonable explanation that I can come up with. I appreciate other's posts and I'm open to alternative ideas, suggestions.
I hear you! I am also highly allergic to chicken. Its an uncommon thing to most people that don't believe. I usually get the "So do you get sick, throat up or messed up stomach?" My symptoms are severe. Last time I had a reaction to chicken was after I ate Chicken Parmesan. ( It was unbeknownst to myself that I was allergic at this time) If you've seen the movie "HITCH" with Will Smith then you'll know what Im talking about. I looked like Rocky after a long boxing match. Heres the kicker. The doctor said that it gets worse every time were body reacts. So all jokes aside there is a possibility of my throat closing up. *pause for the audiences reaction
So this allergy, although uncommon to most, is a severe and embarrassing allergy to few. Catlover is right when it comes to ordering simply "Tomato Soup". I ordered LOBSTER BISQUE....Lobster people! I asked if it had Chicken Broth or stock in it. They laughed and said no. A few bites later my throat started itching. At the same time the manager comes up and says, "Ummm theres traces of chicken fat in the broth btw!" I went to the bathroom immediately and proceeded to, excuse my offensive language, loose a few pounds. I could have sued if I had a BAD reaction. Case in point. It sucks and its embarrassing when you go to a girl friends house and the mother tells the whole family that she has to make a separate dish for Justin because he has a stupid allergy. Then you get drilled by the rents. Good times! Some people and past girl friends are OFFENDED by it! Im serious. Good luck!
I also have an "intolerance" to both chicken bananas. It's weird, I can eat banana IN things, but if I eat a plain banana I get the same awful symptoms I get when I eat chicken...chest pain that feels like a heart attack, but which I think is gas, swollen lips/tongue, and really thick weird tasting saliva. I know this because I have accidentally eaten chicken or turkey a couple times, since it gets snuck into things like hit dogs, pepperoni, and Chinese takeout. People also look at me like I'm nuts when i tell them about my allergy, even my parents thought i was just saying chicken made me sick because I simply didn't like it, until I ate a Mexican dish that I had no idea contained chicken and got sick...then they finally believed me. Doctors have suggested it's the antibiotics or hormones that I'm actually reacting to, but why do bananas cause the same symptoms?? I have resigned myself to the fact that I might never have any actual answers, and that I just need to be careful to avoid chicken and Turkey. I've accidentally eaten it enough to know it won't kill me, but it causes EXTREME discomfort for several hours, and that's enough reason for me to never touch it again.
A few years ago I had a really bad reaction to bananas. Just recently I have noticed that after I eat chicken (organic thighs meat) my stomach has the same pain as it did with bananas. Trying to find info on what the similarities are.
