Hi Summersmommy, I had my first one put in 2001 and due to have the current one removed tomorrow! A decade without periods is worrying especially as we would love to have a baby sooner rather than later as we're not getting any younger! Fingers crossed everything goes back to normal! Let me know how you get on! :-)

I had huge clots so I read up on natural female hormone balancing. Messed up hormones cause clots, fatigue, acne all sorts of stuff. I take a number of supliments, no caffiene, raise your iodine, magnesium. I take Gro Bust which contains all the herbs which balace you. Who new that Balanced hormones makes plump breasts too. Anyway check it out. The IUDs mess us up. we have to level things out for our body to settle down.

i had my mirena removed 7 days ago, like everyone else i feel like its a miscarriage all over again. Thats the only time i saw that much blood and clotting. Some of it is so sudden that i cant go out randomly i have to be completely prepared. Noone told me this. She said it would be a little spotting. I am feeling dizzy now ,will be calling the doc tomorrow.

I had my mirena in for about 3 years and I just got it removed today about 6 hours ago. Nothing yet except for the same sportting I was having when I went in today. However, I had a period the entire time I had mirena. I'm hoping I dont have all of these issues with bleeding as everyone Is saying. I'll keep everyone updated. Removal was almost painless by the way not bad at all unlike when they inserted it which was the worse pain ever. Good luck to everyone having issues!

it is normal ! I have had mine for 5 years and love it the cramping with in the first 6 months and you will bleed and spot thats normal, it will go away , if u start to get a fever or anything check with doctor for infection, the bleeding will be heavy and the cramps will be bad at times but I dont even know its there I never bleed or get cramps

There is no way anyone could have gained weight or have acne..because of the Mirena. Because there are NO hormones in the device, which is what causes that. So I don't know why you ladies gained all of the weight, but I was on here looking for answers about my excessive bleeding and was wondering when it may stop. I had it removed 3 days ago and still bleeding heavy.

Had the mirena in for almost 11 years, had it taken out on November 27th, had no removal bleeding and both periods since have been extremely light and only lasted 2 days!! So many ladies worrying about too much bleeding and i am worrying about not enough bleeding. What if my full period doesnt come back for months, does that mean i cannot get pregnant? We are ttc!!! :-(

glad I'm not alone on this. I had mirena removed 9 days ago and bleed almost everyday. the first day it was so bad I call the dr. first thing and was told if it didn't get better in the next hr. to go to the ER and it'd be called "emergeny bleeding" I've had 3 blood clots and no sign when this will be over so we can try to get pregnant. NEVER getting this again. It also hurt like heck when it was put in.

so much for thinking we could try and get pregnant right away.

Heavy bleeding is not normal
following IUD removal, and may
indicate that your uterus was
punctured. Contact your healthcare
provider right away or visit your local
emergency room if you experience
heavy bleeding.

Hi i got my IUD back in march 2009 :)

the first week I the Mirena inserted i had Cramping.

after that i spotted for like two day out of every moth.

so things were great to me cause normally im a heavy bleeder.

I personally loved the Mirena until this last saturday,

I had my IUD removed on friday 1/18/13

and now im bleeding BADLY. I figuerd i was just starting my period cause it was taken out:)) so at first i was very happy.

but I noticed that now....(mind you this is very disguesting)  my period is super heavy im wearing super tampons. and as soon as i take them out the toilet water turns red. and then theres like mucus red blood chunks in the water as well.  im cramping but nothing to terrible. typical cramping im assuming. is this normal?
