I have the same problem as a male i have noticed if i shave less often this increases the redness and flaking very much. the problem is oily skin or over production of oil from glands. i have to wash my hair everyday or i get duck hair. lol. also i have noticed beer and cigerettes make it worse which leads me to believe it is a fungel infection. warning, anything that irritates that area will produce more oil to heal damaged tissue. shaving the same issue it gets worse. I have only found 1 thing that works. zinc or dandruff shampoo. put some on your finger and dab (not rub) it on the infected areas. wait 3 minutes and rince off. (yes it burns it is the fugus or bacteria dying) pat face dry with towel (do not rub) do twice a day morning and night. change pillow case daily or sleep on your back. do not touch your face and use alcohol wipe after meals. the object is to get rid of the breading ground of fugal and bateria, basicaly stop the oil. skin will become very dry and flake off like crazy. 4-7 days later it will be completly gone. sorry its all i know that works. (rubbing alcohol is very bad for your and can cause permanent damage. body absorbs it into the fat cells and causes even more problems) vitamin E aloe for dryness. ABSOLUTLY NO LOTION!!!... hope this helps.

(lubricants and lotions) use shaving cream lightly instead. [possible cure] I have only found 1 thing that works. zinc or dandruff shampoo. put some on your finger and dab (not rub) it on the infected areas. wait 3 minutes and rinse off. (yes it burns, it is the fugus or bacteria dying and broken skin that will also die and fall off) pat face dry with towel (do not rub) do twice a day morning and night. change pillow case daily or sleep on your back. do not touch your face and use alcohol free wipes after meals. do not wipe face with paper it leaves particals that irritate the skin. the object is to get rid of the breading ground of fugal and bateria, basicaly stop the oil. skin will become very dry and flake off like crazy. 4-7 days later it will be completly gone. sorry its all i know that works. ABSOLUTLY NO LOTION!!!.[food issues] cut down on gluten or wheat based products because many of them have yeast. (also number 1 cause of bloat and water wieght gain) cut down on SUGAR! yeast loves it! ...hope this helps^^* I am NOT a doctor just a common sense guy.(if your condition gets worse or life threatening seek professional medical attention!)

So 2 weeks later and it's a LOT better! (almost completely gone) I have been using Clotrimazole topical cream 3 times a day. I think it might have been some sort of fungal infection I picked up at the gym. Gross!!

I also switched my face wash to Cetaphil face wash and I use that twice a day.

I've had this condition on skin around my nose, in my eyebrows and moustache and I recently discovered it goes away if I don't drink beer. If a change in diet has worked for me, maybe you should look at your food and drink intake. Try avoiding yeast for a few weeks and see if your condition goes away. When I do get flare ups I use a tar shampoo on the affected area becuase it helps a lot. Flakes will instantly go and my skin will settle down.

Perioral dermatitis. I have the exact same thing and I got it in my late teens to early twenties. Most of the time it's because of hormones, but no dermatologist has given me a definitive answer for why this happens. As far as washing goes: no soap. Use facial cleansers that are sensitive-skin, hypo-allergenic, and oil-free. Talk to your doctor about what kind of treatment to start. I'm currently taking Minocycline twice a day as well as a non-steroid topical. It seems to be helping. Good luck, I know it's frustrating!

You're describing what I have been diagnosed with as: perioral dermatitis. It's nice to know someone else understands how conscientious it can make you! It's very frustrating. How long did you have it before you started using the Clotrimazole topical cream? That might be something I look into if the treatment I'm doing now doesn't show any more progress.

To help with most skin and scalp problems:

Rose water mixed with 1 part of apple cider vinegar per oz of rose water mixed in a spray bottle.Let sit for two weeks, then apply as shampoo mist and face wash.

After cleansing, rub fresh cucumber pieces on affected areas morning/night & do not wash off.Apply moisturizer

Most importantly, research how to bring yeast levels to normal,or find out if your suffering from a fungual infection.

Good luck everyone.

This is an old line I know but I also use Chapstick and it works! It sooths and you almost can't see the redness.

I think it I s a fungal infection, but I got it when I was fourteen like many others.

Also I tried the rubbing alcohol solution that someone proposed ans it seems to be working.

I hope this helps!

Do not use cortisone of any type on the face...it can lead to glaucoma.

I had this for several years and saw a post one day that said use hand sanitizer on the area and leave it on. Can't believe how wonderfully it works. I guess the alcohol in it kills the fungus and the moisturizer keeps your skin from drying out. Any cheap hand sanatizer will keep it at bay if its fungal. So glad my nose is normal again!

Hi I have same thing I have found that washing my face with Ivory soap in the am and pm and pat dry with cloth then I apply hydrocortisone cream that seems to help me. Ivory soap has been the only soap that doesn't irritate my face like other soaps I've used has done

You can control the production of yeast! YOu must first do a cleanse, or fast to rid your intestinal tract of intestinal plaque. The ten day master cleanse is an excellent regimen for ridding yourself of all rashes, and illnesses. After that a diet rich in antioxidant fruits and vegetables with a minimum focus on animal products as well as yearly fasts, and keep monitoring the PH (keep it in the 8.4 range) will keep any and all illness away. CUT BACK ON ALL SUGAR AND WHEAT PRODUCTS!
