Hey Just wanted to say ,That Ive Experienced the Same Symptoms. as A MAtter Of Fact As I'm Speaking I Have Not A Clue To Why This Happen . After Drinking " Os It The Alcohol?
I have done a lot of searching for an answer and I feel like it might be alcohol myopathy.
I thank everyone's input. It seems that we're all experiencing the same painful prickly bruising sensation to our skin after a night out of drinking. I've only started experiencing this a few years ago. It's awful. I've changed the type of beer/vodka I drink thinking it could be an ingredient I'm allergic too. Even with the change, I'm still experiencing pain the next day. I will try a Antihistamine and will reply back.
Hey, I have the same pain exactly, waist up but not really around my neck! Its the worst around my ribs. Its after I drink lots the night before and then the more I eat the next day, the worse the pain gets. I tried B vitamins and they didn't help my pain :( which ones did you take?
Hey, I have the same pain exactly, waist up but not really around my neck! Its the worst around my ribs. I used to drink lots in college and didn't eat really much but since my lifestyle has changed and I'm super health and honesty don't drink a lot! Ill have a couple glasses of wine here and there and don't ever have any pain the next day. But every once in a while ill go out and get the terrible pain the day after!! Its after I drink lots the night before and then the more I eat the next day, the worse the pain gets. I feel literally like my whole stomach area and ribs are bruised but there are no bruises. It makes NO sense. It hurts to like touch my stomach and rib areas and I get SO bloated! Like crazy bloated! I have ibs problems and have looked into maybe this being the problem but doesn't look like it. I still have the pain now after 3 days and this is longer than its ever lasted for me!! Im slightly freaked out to be honest!!!
This is also me who posted that above, it seems that maybe eating sweeter foods even make it worse? I have no clue but HELP :(
Hi there,
there is a lot of good information in this feed. Especially the comment of about a year ago, talking about lymphatic system. Please read back, it helped me with a breakthrough and understanding things better. I used to have the same problem as everyone else, but I have now solved the management of the symptoms, by keeping very hydrated ( and by very hydrated, I mean about 3 litres of water a day plus magnesium and potassium. I don't get the pain anymore) . As the cause of the problem, I think that the contributor that talked about clogging of the lymphatic system is 100% right. the issue of myopathy has been long discussed in this feed, but I am sure it is not. You wouldn't control myopathy by drinking water. hope this helps.

Thank you so much! I actually drink a gallon to a gallon and a half of water every day, but Ill look into the magnesium and potassium! This has helped with the post alcohol pain for you? Ill go look back at the coloring of the lymphatic system and read a little more into it! Thank you so much for your reply!!!
Yes I have had that for a long time now. I hurt everywhere but I also hurt all over most of the time when I don't drink so I think the real culprit is SUGAR. They can diagnose Fibromyalgia but never hear what causes it?? Don't want to take a scary drug like Lyrica when they just say overactive nerves. Well why are they overactive?? Sugar could be one of the causes & stress.
The muscle pain is something to do with lactic acid. I found this:
Alcohol can play a role in interfering with the breakdown of lactic acid. This causes your muscles to increase in soreness after physical activity Alcohol damages amino acids in your body that are needed for energy. The interference of amino cause a decrease in energy and muscle recovery that your body needs.

It's not muscle pain, as we have all mentioned - it's skin pain. Hard to understand unless it has happened to you. Walking, lifting anything, flexing does not hurt; touching the skin even lightly brushing it hurts.
Hi
I have exactly the same problem. I'm a 40+ veterniary surgeon and have researched every possible condition and nothing at all written in the literature seems to fit.
I can usually tolerate one glass of wine at the most (ie signs mild enough to cope) but if I have more than one the bruised feeling that develops the following afternoon is almost unbearable. Its torso pain mainly especially abdominal top of back jaw and shoulders, nothing on arms or legs. My husband cannot hug me and even the slightest indentation with my finger into my skin is painful. It is not painful when I don't touch it but I am constantly aware during movement that it is there. It lasts usually a minimum of 48 hrs but the last episode I had after 2 glasses of sparkling wine and a massage at a spa was so bad it lasted 5 days! It was way worse than the symptoms I usually get after 2 glasses so think the massage may have had something to do with the severity of the symptoms? I have reached the point of not being able to drink at all, just had my 10th wedding anniversary and had to celebrate with water! Its so sad that no-one can figure out what this is and the main question I have is "Is it detrimental long term to our health to even have one drink or it ok to occasionally socially have a glass of wine" As a physician I wondered if you had had a chance to speak to fellow colleagues and had made any progress on the subject as I feel Ive reached a dead end in the possible aetiology. I wondered if you could pass on this thread of peoples complaints as there is such similarily between our presenting signs that there must be an underlying cause, possible a condition unknown so far that may merit some research.

HANG OVER IN MY ARM I FEEL IT ASWELL WHT IS IT ???
STOP DRINKING! Problem solved.
I suffer from this also - really sore skin between 24 and 48 hours after drinking large amounts of alcohol.
I have some questions for other sufferers to try and narrow a few things down:
1) does anyone suffer from Ibs?
2) does anyone have any history of iron deficiency or thyroid issues?
3) does anyone else notice that the issue is better/worse with specific drinks? I get the feeling it could be due to the sugar content of some drinks but not sure.
