I think it's the yeast in the alcohol.
So many people are becoming yeast intolerant.
I found this thread because I was wondering why I was so tender to the touc everytime I drank. I drink a beer. However. I cheat and eat bread ocassionally. I am Wheat and yeast intolerant. I have 32 food intolerances.
I also have fibromyalgia. I am in medications. I can guarantee the alcohol isn't helping my body. Dehydrating me and screwing up my meds. Not good. I probably drink once every couple of months.
Anyway. Drs can't state sn answer because then they'd have to be knowledgeable in good intolerances. Testing may have to be done. Most drs just don't want to do it. You're better off with a naturopath if you really want answers. An MD will just say if it hurts don't do it. Duh. The least about t of work they have to do the better they are lol
Be proactive ppl. Do t wait if you feel something is wrong.
Order a food intolerance test online. Test yourself.
Make an appt with a holistic dr. Naturopath. Even many chiropractors are into wellness.
Good luck.

Have you gotten any answers? You are experiencing exactly what I have experienced after drinking (too much). Obviously, I could stop drinking if I needed to. But my main concern is what is happening within my body that causes this and could there be long term issues. Just wondered if you had received any additional answers.
I have the same exact thing.....what is it???
Yes, I don't have the pain at all anymore, in the last year or so it only happened once because I got very dehydrated. good luck!
After being assaulted, neural damage in wrists and elbows seem to have activated the mentioned condition in me as well. Long time, just regular alcohol use will lead many (most) to alcoholic neuropathy. You can improve this condition eating healthy, drinking lots of water and stop drinking at least to recover. Consider the intake of Magnesium Chloride (can even be absorbed via the skin) and B12 inyections to improve this condition. Ask your doctor.
Nevertheless... There are many other plausible triggering factors for metioned sympthoms. Please consider testing for Multiple Sclerosis, Fibromyalgia, Gene mutacions/polymorfism (MTHFR and others), diabetes and over 20 other similar deseases and syndromes. It may be a long road to get to the right conclusion and some things do not seem well adressed in the medical world, related to these symptoms. Consider talking to your doctor or specialist about your condition and drinking. Insist you should take a electromyogram and also have your blood fully tested. Take homocystine level in account as a marker for underlying issues. Also check cortisol levels and for infeccions (also AIDS and such...) and other autoimmune issues.
Long road. I am just starting the process, i have my order for the electromyogram. IMHO, if the mentioned condition occurs to you, you would want to make sure it is in fact onlyn alcoholic neuropathy and there are no other underlying deseases or potentially harmfull co-existing deseases. All should be ruled out. A protocol similar to diagnosing multiple sceloris will get you tested for most factors/similar desease. Aditionally consider testing for gene defects. You may not only have issues with alcohol but also with folic acid in enriched flower for example. Stop eating bread and any products made with enriched flower or folates for 2 weeks. Just eat fish, meat, chicken, (possibly raw from yard/jarden organic ) eggs, milk + a lot of fruits, all types (fresh maracuya for example). If you feel much better after two weeks, eat bread or spaghetti with enriched flower again. If you feel sudden unconfort while consuming folic acid again, you may not be able to proces the folic acid well. Alcolism may also lead to this, just as gene defects.
Do not supplement with folic acid unless you confirm you can metabolize it. Do not forget, folic acid is synthetic and isnt really doing any good to anyone IMHO. You should only supplement with folates, directly from healthy food, rich in folates. You may supplement with magnesium an B12 intramuscular. Deficiencies of Magnesium and B12 + gene defects and issues with metabolising the acetilaldehide is in fact a mortal condition. Very often this and other issues go undiagnosed and serious 'alcoholic neuropathy'-like occurs, totally messing up your nervous system.
Try not to supplement with B12 until you get your serumlevels for B12, folates etc tested. It is needed as a very important reference point (follow up) for your treatment with B12 which might be for life.
B12 will take away many of those nasty neuropatic pains. Especially if IM. Not only does it ease, it will also protect your nervous system from further (possibly unrepairable) damage. Treatment with B12 might actually be very urgent for you in order to stop progress of this condition. Treatment with B12 should start with a bloodtest and then supplementing. Talk to your doctor before taking B12, this is crucial. B12 IM is all in all quiet safe, but not if you have a potassium-deficiency and others. You can get that from eating many bananas for example. Also, you should't (ever) take folic acid if you have low B12. This is also quite a dangerous situation. This is why enriched flower may cause you issues, because of B12-deficiency, if not even a genetic defect. This may also lead to additional neurological damages...
I could go on for quite a while, longer... but in short, it comes down to eating healthy, wise choices, improving lifestyle. In fact it is your body telling you something is going wrong and right now it doesn't need the alcohol. Especially not even after that long day work. The alcohol will ruin your healing capabilities, dehydrate, mess with your enzymes, deplete the allready depleted vitamins and minerals, so on... You wake up feeling like truck drove over you. Exactly. It may even happen 2 to 3 days after drinking. Unfortunately :-) i am still having up to 3 or for cans of beer every two weeks. Allthough with less symptoms now, maybe just 15% i guess, it still makes me loose I day, when it is hard to move.
Not drinking, eating healthy, restoring depleted nutes, vitamins and Magnesium will get you back on your feet, unless you have a case of severe MS, fibro or such. Your body can not heal while drinking alcohol. I spend like 2 months researching this. I guess this is the way to go. I am working with a team of doctors on this and still 'some' hope to get completely rid of this (mess).
Good luck to you all, kind regard and be nice to yourself and yours. Wish you a lot of strenght.

Yes, indeed. That seems to help a lot. Good luck.
I forgot to mention ANXIETY, which may be a very important (forgotten) factor. Extreme anxiety may even cause neuropathy an actual damage too. Do not underestimate.
Anxiety may worsen the symptoms or even trigger them. The weird described feeling in the torax is very similar to the 'MS Hug' and tension in torax because of ANXIETY. Actually both may coexist. Once again, laying of the booze (at least for a while) will probably get you back healthy. Limit stress (factors) too.

Destilled alcohol has no yeast, still causes the same issues for me. Definately the alcohol (and especially the subproduct acetilaldehyde) is the issue for me. Yeast actually seems to be a great source for natural occuring folates, thus usefull, of course not so if intolerant... Sorry about to hear about your 32 intolerances and fibro.
Besides that, you are spot on. Totally agree. It is indeed an issue that has to be adressed by knowledgeable people. As I stated before, i suspect co-existing factors like MS or fibro are often present.
Good luck.

Lactic acid. Alcohol effects the breakdown of this causing aches and lack of energy
This is true.. Feels like poison. LITTERALLY..
I have the same thing! I'm so happy I found out there are other people suffering from this too! I'm not alone! My pains are related to
-alcohol
-binge eating
-eating sugary/high carb foods
-dehydration
I also have IBS and all the doctors say it's just because of my stomach problems,I just don't see how my stomach problems can make even my feet swell? It has something to do with poor metabolism and flushing out the toxins but I would like to know what is the real reason

I am having this problem, too. How how many days has it lasted for any of you who experience this?
Thankyou I think this sounds the most plausible explanation, I get the pain in my arms, back and shoulders after drinking, now knowing it affects the heart muscle I shall cut down! Debbie.
