I am only 20 years old also a male, I know I shouold'nt be drinking but I do it every now and then when I go out with a few friends. It's never a consistent thing, but after a sip or two and in under five minutes I feel this burning sensation in my rectum and have asked a couple people around me if they get the same feeling and they all have said no. I have not yet seen a doctor but the other forums I have looked at have been from women who hypothesize it could be an allergic reaction, which in my opinion seems logical. To answer your question I have never had Kidney Stones.

I have this exact problem. One thing that helps for me is taking Vitamin C before i start drinking. Vitamin C kills any bacteria in the urethra, and helps to prevent any type of UTI. Maybe try this out next time you are going to the bar.

I was sure I had an sti, but got checked out and was given the all clear. That was 5 years ago. For me it happens 5 or so minutes after alcohol and hurts a lot for 30-60 minutes. I swear there is some correlation with maturation and the pain. Nothing relieve the pain, just have to hope you're drunk enough to get through it. Oddly never happens when I'm very drunk, only If I drink a little. 23 year old male

I was told by my physician that it MAY be caused by interstitial cyctitis.  Not a definite diagnosis.  - I have treated it by giving up on the adult beverages and becoming the designated driver. ~ A Fellow Suffere

Hi I have been repeatedly going doctor about this. Mainly they think am imagining it but now saying could be overactive bladder syndrome. I dont believe this but am waiting to see a specialist to investigate further. Had alot of intrusive tests also to try to work it out. Happens to me with caffeine sugar and alcohol. Also if havent drank enough water

Do you get cystitis? I do, suffered for years and was searching to see what a burning sensation after wine meant and found this post and thought I'd help you all out as it's horrid. Think I have instititial cystitis. I'd recomend cranberry, lots of water, hot baths and ibroprofen. I would say the main thing is to eliminate stress, it can be linked with IBS which again can be linked to stress. Try and excercise and chilling out - going to take my own advice.

Drink more water, wheat is unkind to the body and alcohol is acidic.

I rarely drink but when I do I have the "burning" sensation everyone is referring to. I was diagnosed with HPV aboit 4 years ago but after a year it was gone. I've always thought they could be related.

I am glad that I am not alone, but sorry that others have this too. Basically maybe 10-20% of the time after drinking alchohol, I get this burning sensation in my penis that lasts up to an hour or two, but usually less than 30 minutes. It is accompanied by the need to urinate frequently although not much comes out. Symptoms show up only a couple of minutes after the first drink.

I do have IBS and erectile dysfunction. I cannot help but wonder if all of these symptoms are related to a tense pelvic region.
