I am 25 years old and am experiencing pain in my upper middle and right stomach below my ribs. For the past several months I have had severe nausea and it comes and goes.Sometimes its after I eat but mostly around my period.I am late this month but I am experiencing nausea to the point of vommitting. I am not pregnant, Ive taken the test, but my nausea is mimicking morning sickness for the last three days worse than ever before. Where should I start to find out f it is my gall bladder? I ask because at my age 75% of the women on my mothers side of the family have had this disease and had to have it removed...

48 male. Just Google-ing my pre- cholecystectomy symptoms and remembering how worried I was. Thought I might share to help others. I had been getting bouts of nausea for years. I thought it was everything from viruses to anxiety. In December of 2009 I got nauseous and it just stayed with me for weeks. I lost my appetite; the smell of most foods became unbearable. ( I lost my job too) Kept having a repeating pattern of a wave of intense nausea, a feverish feeling, followed by a bubble of gas. Multiple tests turned up nothing. Then, I had an ultrasound of my gallbladder. It had 2 mm stones. I had it removed. The nausea stayed on for a couple of weeks, but after that it has been gone completely! It did take a few months before I felt "normal" again. I feel great now (knock on wood). I can eat mostly anything except pork. Oh yeah, and mozzarella cheese now smells like fresh vomit for some reason post-cholecystectomy But that's about it. My stools are consistent and nice and dark, which means the bile is passing through normally now. Some ghost pain and adhesion pain sometimes.
I guess if an otherwise healthy middle-age male presents with nausea and loss of appetite, in the absence of other diagnosis, they look at the GB. So hang in there, find something you can eat, and get as many tests as you can to rule out more serious problems.
Eat fresh greens. They can only help you.

Word for word I'm suffering the way you are. Mornings are horrible. I wake up and before my feet hit the ground I'm sick to my stomach and after every meal. I have found safe foods which consist of granola bars and nesquick. I don't understand why but that's what I eat for breakfast and lunch. I do eat dinner but only when I'm home so that if I get sick I can go to bed. Lately I've been having trouble eating breakfast. I have no appetite. Fruit is ok to eat too. I have been diagnosed with gastritis, acid reflux and enlarged liver and gall bladder. They are sending me for a hida scan and an endoscopy this Thursday. I have endured 2 endoscopies in the past and numerous trips to the ER for severe nausea. They think a cyst is blocking a duct in my gall bladder. The ER doctor felt I had gastroparesis or an abdominal migraine. I'm also completely exhausted and get rather anxious about eating or leaving the house for any length of time. It seems the more I push myself the more fatigued I get. I have to say I'm tired of feeling so ill. This has been a 2 year battle with no end in sight. The list of medicines I have been on include omperezole, Phenergan and regalin. They do control the nausea but nothing restores the appetite. Over the course of 2 years I lost 18 pounds. I have the nausea all the time now so eating is a real challenge. So I imagine the weight loss will continue. I'm much older than you(45) but please let me know how you make out and I will do the same.

Many of your symptoms sound like they may be caused by your ears. They eye movement and dizzyness and nausea are all things they test for at a balance center - which is really a kind of ear specialist.
I've had these symptoms and these tests. I happen to have stumbled on to your post because I am having gallbladder problems, but my dizziness etc are kept in check by a treatment from an ear doctor. I'm not going to tell you what it is, because there are a zillion different ear things that give similar symptoms to the untrained person. See if you can get a complete balance exam by an audiologist that specializes in balance issues.
The symptoms you discuss were ruining my life, so I really get it. I got my life back from the constant motionsickness, etc after being crushed by them for 3 years.
Now if I can just get the gallbladder stuff fixed.... Best of luck!!!

Thanks for responding. They did send me to an ENT and that doctor induced vertigo. The test intensified the nausea but came back normal. I will be seeing this same doctor in about a week to see what's next. No doctor has ever given me a reasonable explanation for the symptoms. The nausea was almost unbearable, however, for no apparent reason in the past few weeks the symptoms have eased up and I'm able to eat again. I did remove wheat from my diet. I think it's a coincidence but at the urging of a nurse I did what she called an elimination diet and removed possible trigger foods. I started with wheat, cut down on sugar and keep dairy to a minimum. I can't eat spaghetti sauce at all. I don't mind changing my diet especially if I get relief. I like to cook so I've learned about new foods and how to prepare them and consulted with a nutritionist for additional help. I realized very quickly my health had to be front and center because day to day was quite the struggle and I know I'm preaching to the choir lol. I'm so glad to hear from you and that you are doing better. I'm sending blessing your way and I pray for your full recovery and good health!

Glad to see I'm not alone. I've been dealing with nausea for about 3 months, now. No vomiting, but sure as heck feel like it at times. PCP thought it was GERD and put me on a PPI. I've been on several different ones and nothing seems to work. I started seeing a GI back in December and had an endoscopy done. He said there was mild gastritis, and the PPIs should clear them up. Unforntately I feel worse. He is puzzeled, but is ordering a gastric emptying and HIDA, both of which I will have this upcoming week. I have also had abdoman ultrasound which was normal. Nothing seems to give me relief for the nausea. I am on Zofran and can down a bottle of Peptobismol in a night and only feel slightly better. I've noticed that going outisde and getting some air and going for a brisk walk can help at times, too (I know...weird, right)? At any rate, it seems to come and go. I've lost like 20 lbs. Taking advantage of that weight loss and hitting the gym. Some days its worse than others. Even when feel hungry, I still feel the nasuea too. It sucks. GI is also referred me to a neurologist in case the 2 tests come back normal as well.
Good luck, everyone. We are all in the same boat.

I feel like I just read about me with yours, and all of these posts. I have had a bunch of tests, from cat scans to barium swallow, lots of blood work, and an upper endoscopy. I was diagnosed with small hiatal hernia, reflux and Barrett's esophagus. I have always been prone to nausea, but lately, it is almost constant, and really bad after eating, no matter how bland the food. I am having the HIDA test done next week. I am a runner, and active person, and it is really affecting my daily life. I hope you get some relief. I feel like I am going back to my pregnancy days when I had morning, noon, and night sickness. You are so right, constant nausea is awful! I do feel a little better knowing that I am not crazy and other people have this issue, although I wouldn't wish it on anyone. I am almost 47...I feel really badly for those of you that are so much younger.

I know many of your complaints seem to fit gallbladder/ liver issues. Several of you mention that you had gallstones so had your gallbladders removed, yet the symptoms persisted. If the cause is gallstones, simply removing your gallbladder may not take care of the problem if some of your gallstones were expelled, but were large enough that they got stuck and caused blockages in your bile ducts. I too have been suffering from similar symptoms of chronic nausea and have been doing a great deal of research, including reading through this thread which has been the most instrumental piece of evidence, which has lead me to believe my symptoms are linked to a sluggish gallbladder caused by blockages. My GI referral is still a few weeks away and I can't stand these awful symptoms plaguing every aspect of my life. I've lost a great deal of weight and feel so incredibly weak and skaky all of the time. I cannot fathom how those of you who have complained of these symtoms lasting for years, must feel. :( I wanted to share a link to an article on gallbladder flushes that may be of some use to some of you, especially those of you who had their gallbladders out and still have symptoms (and no, I have no affiliation with these folks, and am actually choosing to go an alternative route with my gallbladder flush). Because of reading this article, I started researching more on gallbladder flushes and many have experienced great relief. I have started taking 1,500 mg of malic acid each day (3 500mg pills with each meal, taken with warm liquids like broth or water) to avoid having to ingest a ton of apple juice daily. I am on day 4 of doing this and just by doing this and also mixing in a teaspoon of raw apple cider vinegar into the warm water before meals, my symptoms are finally starting to let up slightly. I'm wonder if maybe the malic acid is having an impact on my gallstones already? Perhaps that is wishful thinking... Anyway, this weekend I plan on commencing with the rest of the flush, including consuming unfiltered olive oil mixed with lemon juice, to hopefully flush out some pesky stones. I'm not trying to drum up business for the page I linked to, and have absolutely no affiliation, but am just hoping some of you could potentially benefit from exploring some natural alternatives. Take it or leave it. Best of luck to each of you, as this is not an experience I would wish upon my worst of enemies.
