I am 20 i have been married for two years and have not cheated on my husband i have been tested multiple times and just tested positive. my husband did not test positive. I know for a fact i have not cheated or been with anyone other than my husband in any sexual way. so there must be another way to contract chlamydia.

i am going through the same thing. I went to my gyno and was told i tested positive for hpv (i am engaged and have only been with my partner sexually) but tested negative for everything else. I go in today and was told my hpv is gone but i now have chlamydia, which of course caused HUGE problems in my relationship since i now think he's cheating and he thinks im unfaithful. he has never cheated or lied to me and ive never strayed so how can this be? the doctor told me sexual activity is the only way i couldve gotten it. this has caused me nothing but heart ache and unnecessary headaches

hi iwanted to know if you can get chlamydia by having sex with someone but none of us are missing around?

yes if 1 of you have the disease, you can have chlamydia with absolutly no symptoms for a long time, they call it a silent disease.Just be sure if you have it or think you may have it get tested and get treated immediatly as it can lead to other health problems and infertility if untreated. The test is a urine sample taken when you first wake up in the morning, the first flow, not midstream and do not shower or wash first. There are extremely rare cases /reports of people catching it other ways but many debates as to wether this is possible, anyway it dont matter how you got it or where what matters is to get it treated.

saying you are an MD does not make what you say correct:

people should ask themselves this:
How do they test for Chlymedia in males? - by urine... (i think its the same for females .... or maybe through veginal swaps)
if a bacteria is present in urine, then it can be transmitted in any way that involves penile action such as toilet seat etc.
saying that sex is the only way to catch it is myopic to say the least.

i just got this married and my wife IS A VIRGIN - then we check for STD's (u know, all those things u do b4 the marriage) and they say she has chly .... and i don't!!! -
can you believe those idiots?

i am the one who should have it, i have had lots of intercourse b4, and i have not taken any anti-b nor any medication for that matter - my wife is a freaking virgin for pete's sakes - hymen still in tact, how can she have gotten it through sex???

it happens that she shares a bathroom with other students in her campus hostel, that's the only way she could have gotten it.

ppl should not let their relationships shatter b'cos of this, doctors are brainwashed to think their way is the only way..

its ONLY concidered in the std catagory BECAUSE its posible to get it THROUGH SEX therefore dubbing the title SEXUALLY TRANSMITTED...and it is proven to have been contracted through things OTHER then sex...such as ...wear thongs or g strings on every day bases...not steralizing or cleaning you sexual toys before and or after use properly...and has also been said that birds as well a mice carry the bacteria and can have mice in ur house and not know it.. just a little fun fact for yuh

Yes you can obviously catch this from other places, and even when I was being tested incase I had it the pathologist told me that she has had virgins with it on rare occassions, but in saying that you dont need to penetrate somone to catch this, you can be touching and infected person and then touch yourself(female) or in some reports theres been people with it in the eye so basically oral sex with an ifected person could infect the other not just in genitals but eyes. Anyway like I said before, does it really matter where or when somone got this? get tested get treated and move on from it.Oh and seeker have you been tested again to make sure? sometimes the test comes back negative when you have it the urine has to be when you first wake up and the first bit that comes out. Anyway its good you got all tested to start out fresh.

This topic is very close to me because there is ways other than sex. My son who is 19 was diagnosed and he is a virgin so the doctors are now looking into the ways. He has never had sex, oral sex, anal sex...no kind of sex and tested positive for it. Explain that Mr. MD!

Answer this for me. I was recently contacted by two of my sexual partners saying they had the STI chlamydia, I only had oral with one and sex with the other. I went in to be tested and I was found negative. Supposedly I had been the only sexual partner since the last time one had been tested, which may not be true, and I know for a fact I was for the other, and this was a first for both. How did I not contract this STI? I am a female, so it should be super easy righ? and tell me why my health provider told me it can be contracted several different ways because it's a bacterial infection, and if it's a negative its a negative, I was also informed you can't be a carrier without being positive for it. Was I lied to? I have recently had scopes done of my lady parts and all is healthy, I had the full swab, urine, peak a boo test. Strange things happen all the time, such as this. And no, I didn't have relations with them at the same time, a few weeks apart, so they didn't pass fluid and I shower so... How's this work? Is it really that common?

Ok so good news for the guest posted this is...you dont have it, I think possibly this infection bacteria whatever chlamydia is basically is like the common cold or chicken pox or any thing people catch from each other, some people catch it from 1 time others dont, my sister has been exposed many many times to family with chicken pox and is 60 next year and never got 1 spot,Ive had a terrible flu bug contagious and my hubby never caught it so maybe chlamydia can be the same, all I do know is if your with a new partner and know your clear use protection, if it gets serious get checked together before you stop using protection. I doubt you wouldve caught it doing oral although it can happen if the fluid gets in the eye,but your lucky you didnt get it from the 1 you had sex, only other answer is the 1 you had sex with had a false positive reading from his test which can happen same as a false negative.

This situation is exactly the one in which i am finding myself right now. Since I got married over 5 years ago, i have't had any other sexual partner. Now i am being tested positive. Though I trust my husband, but to clear my doubt i persuaded him to do the test but lo and behold he tested negative. The cause of this infection need to be researched more so that trust in marriages will not be......

I completely agree with all the posts that say Chlamydia must caught or transmitted in ways other than having sex with someone that had it. Sure in medical school you students learn that it's an STD and can only be caught through sex. But that's what the textbooks say. And that Information COULD be inaccurate. Those of you that have common sense and have a slight understanding of how viruses form, you would know that the Chlamydia virus evolved from SOMEWHERE. Which means there is a BIOLOGICAL explanation for its growth, or occurence. Think about the VERY FIRST HUMAN that got this virus. Whether it was a man or a woman! He or she must've caught it by NOT HAVING SEX!!! Use your brains people! There are obviously other ways of getting it in your system and most likely by a mix of defferent bacteria.

I don't know what you did in the OB_GYN office, but you certainly have NO idea what you are talking about. This is a particular bacteria, not from a mix of who knows what kinds mixing together, and it doesn't TURN into gonorrhea! It is NOT caused by tight underwear (that is risk for yeast infection), and it is not from wiping wrong, etc. I certainly wouldn't want to take any kind of advice from you as this entire post is pure rot!!

Check out the government website http://www.std-gov.org/stds/chlamydia.htm it sounds like pretty much no one on here knows what they are talking about.
