I have smoked since I it as 14 very heavily and quit and relapsed several times. The experience is always the same, I end up sleeping 12 hours a night, can't get myself out of bed etc, brain is foggy and tired. After much research, I'd say its because you lack deep sleep when you smoke, the same as with alcohol, its like you are unconscious, and so you wake up sometimes still stoned etc. So now my brain and body is throwing me into constant deep sleep trying to repair, trying to recover, trying to remove toxins, my muscles feel tired, I have long intense vivid dreams. And for the first few nights, I sweat profusely, have hot flushes, anxiety and insomnia also. I have personally observed that by the 6 week mark, I am 100% recovered, my mind is sharp, I sleep normally, the puffyness and swelling in my face is gone quite quickly, my memory is back on form, my anxiety is back to normal levels, and I no longer crave sugar and sweets for quick energy release. No need to fret, brothers and sisters , you will return to normal, some people take longer than others, remember you have essentially been abusing a mood enhancing drug and the body and brain needs to take a period of healing, so sleepiness is very normal. Good look and keep on going, you will feel amazing when the process has completed.

I smoke every day multiple times a day since i was 16 years old, im now 21 and quit about 2 weeks ago. I also feel more tired than ever, i used to worl full time, train boxing, and ran with my dog every day. Now i need a nap after work and can barely work out or take my dog out. I hope this passes soon. Does anyone else get a really tense neck or muscle knots? I cant seem to relax my neck and its painful. Reading stuff online makes me think i have some serious disease like cancer or a thyroid problem.

I have the same problem. I’m 3 weeks in and can barely function. Exact same age and almost the same length of time smoking marijuana. Since this post was written over a year ago, I’m wondering what your outcome was? Did you go back to smoking regularly? Did the tiredness go away? Thanks!

Dude! I am so glad I'm not the only one. Okay so I am a morning person all day. Granted I don't stay up past 11 o'clock but come 715 on maybe tired for 1 minute until I get in the warm shower. Then I'm so alive that I start cleaning and everything. Im obsessed with vegetables and my iron levels are normal. But man I quit smoking a month and a half ago to try and get a government job and I have never been more tired in my life. Now I can get 8 hours of sleep and wake up exhausted. Its the only thing in my life that has changed. Fyi I was an every day smoker. Wake n bake and after work and before bed.

***DONT READ IF YOU QUIT AND ARE EASILY TRIGGERED***

*********

I had quit for about 4 days but recently caved. Before those four days I had drastically reduced my smoking, up to the point where a joint could last about a week. So, those four days were only truly, truly clean, but it feels like I "quit" for longer.

Anyway, I have strange symptoms...Huge insomnia, coupled with difficulty mantaining sleep for a very long time, waking without being able to sleep but feeling very tired.

And just now I had been feeling terribly tired, which was weird for the time of day, but I caved. My tiredness went away almost immediately after the first hit, and that is how I noticed that it was positively a withdrawal symptom.

I guess I just have to start all over again. Congratulations to all of you, and all the best.

Hey man, I had your same exact symptoms including a huge knot in my neck which took like four or five days to go away ,that was extremely annoying. I am older than you though, 27, and have been smoking for 9 years or so. Don't worry about it and hang tight.

I smoked weed for a very long time. I quit three weeks ago and I'm extremely tired . I cant sleep,I'm mean, and my eyes have dark circles,I'm eating more,I'm in my room alot. Its ridiculous. Anybody who says you don't experience withdrawals from weed after smoking it for a long time is wrong. I want to smoke but my lungs hurt and I'm getting older. It's hard and hope I feel better after the thc is completely out of my system. Hope also I can get back to myself again. blahhh

I had this same thought about why would I only be tired now instead of during the time I was actually smoking daily when there's obviously more toxins in my body. Good comments

I’ve smoked since 16 I’m now 34. Tried quitting multiple occasions this being one of them, every time i am so tired have diarrhea horribly can’t sleep have hot flashes. I smoked about a g a day of good stuff. The only reason I’ve quit is to save some money and more than likely will smoke again after a year or so if I can make it. Just seen this site and w am relieved I’m not the only one. Literally took a couple Ritalin hoping that would get rid of the diarrhea since it constipates me but nope didn’t work also didn’t give me energy either just want to feel better like now.

I am a 28-year-old male, smoking daily since I was 14. I think we are all forgetting that using cannabis consistently makes the body produce dopamine. And when we remove the cannabis the dopamine temporarily goes with it. Dopamine is the neurochemical associated with feeling energized, confident, and powerful. Your body is fighting to get back into homeostasis now that it doesn’t have that input. Give it a few weeks with some healthy food and exercise and you will better than ever!! Good luck! The first few days are the hardest
