I have just started to use Aloe vera juice because I heard that it’s excellent for diabetes. Today I notice that I have rash on my hands. I suppose that it happened because I started to take that juice. But maybe I’m wrong. I’m wondering can you be allergic to Aloe vera?

I used a mask today my face was tingling and i washed it off it was red and blotchy. Am i allergic to aloe vera ?  Thanks, Sophie
Hello everyone, I had aloe vera as a daily intake for three weeks last November, expecting energy and weight loss and toxins being pulled out. I felt unreasonably exhausted, put on weight (I practise martial arts 10hrs a week!) and most important, my muscles were terrible aching and tired. I stopped taking it after I got injured at the thigh. Had a blood test and it showed a thyroid dysfunction though I had never had before! After some research, you can read that Memorial Sloane Kettering and UK cancer center do warm about liver and thyroid dysfunction when taking aloe. I drove myself mad about it because the people around me (including the person who sold me this dietary supplement) would believe me. But I went to to see a doctor specialized in thyroid and she believes me. It's actually pretty logical: aloe enhances your immune system. If it is too enhanced your thyroid thinks your body is attacked and responds! If you can, check the scientific article (see the links at Sloane Kettering website).
I am very sorry for all the mistakes!! Erratum: -memorial Sloane Kettering and UK cancer center do warn** about aloe vera -I drove crazy as no one around me would believe me
Lastly: my advice is to write to the companies if you experience something bad. I wrote an email to Forever L. who say that they've never heard of such a thing but still nicely sent me a form to fill in so as to give as many details as possible. My doctor added that it's important to start documenting this as we lack hindsight concerning natural dietary supplements on long term effects on the body. To reply to skin reactions : I've never had bad reactions, it's still one of my magical tools to Save a dry skin or burnt one.
Your post was very helpful! Thank you so much for posting your comments and tips. I found your post after having an allergic reaction to aloe vera juice on my face just a few hours ago. I got too much sun yesterday so I thought it'd be good to slather my face with pure aloe vera juice (no other ingredients). Boy, was I wrong. After only about a minute or two, after my face dried, my skin turned pink and was burning up. I thought, maybe it's just dry? I have very dry skin and it felt very tight after the aloe treatment. I patted some olive oil on it (my usual moisturizer). That made it worse. I didn't wait. I washed my face with soap to get all the aloe off and I'm so glad I did. After rinsing off the soap, I rinsed my washcloth in cold water and kept applying it to my pink face a bunch of times. Now, a half hour later, my face is feeling better. You are right. You can develop an allergy at any time. I've been using aloe vera in my other beauty products (body lotion, soaps, shampoos, etc.) for most of my life and have had no reaction. But now, I need to be careful of anything with aloe vera that I put on my face. Next time, I will do a small patch test on the corner of my face to see if I have a reaction.
I'm allergic to fish and aloe vera.. it's natural but my immunity doesn't cope with it... nothing to do with god making things or a body being full of toxins... what's wrong with people!!!
Thanks for sharing
Some people are just repeating what they're reading online from all these natural Blogs
Wow! You are not alone!! I have had to read ingredient lists for the past 30 years for all of the products that my family uses....trying to avoid aloe vera! My poor husband, can only use personal products that I can tolerate, from soap to shaving cream. The 2014 popularity of drinking aloe vera juice makes me cringe, I'm actually scared...I don't know what would happen if I accidently ingested or breathed in aloe vera. Just as a side note...I also have exzema, asthma, and abnormal reactions to insect bites. Most people wouldn't know because I'm vigilant and practice avoidance. I also carry my epi pen with me at all times.
I have recently had the same reaction after drinking it for years. A friend of mine who is an ER nurse, told me that she has seen it in the ER several times.
As bad as it is that you are this way, it makes me feel good to know it's not just me. My grandpa was in horticulture over 60 years and he told me I'm the only person he's ever heard of allergic to aloe and I've never come across in person anyone else with that problem. I'm not glad anyone is allergic but so glad I'm not alone.
I looked this up because I tossed, turned, felt Weird all night , very warm---knew my B.P.was up.It WAS.176 @ 4:00 a.m. Got up,it got worse. Was up to 200. I took a Magnesium tablet. I had quit B.P. pills Months ago, but took one. It did not seem to help. then thought of Hibiscus Flower Tea. Read in Health Mag.it can significantly Lower B.P. & calm Hypertension. IT DID. I bought this yesterday @ OutPost Health foods. I nearly got in car & drove to Hospital. I will Never swallow I again.
of course! It's a plant. Plant allergies are common. Just because it's the current "fad," and in every body cream and juice doesn't mean it doesn't have it's own set of allergenid issues. Aloe is in almost everything you buy and is most likely the reason allergies to aloe are popping up everywhere.  I am allergic...didn't use to be...but now I am and it's hard to find anything without aloe.
No good thing. I tried it yesterday and I GOT SO ILL so I thought Iwas going to die.
