I have been smoking for 3 years and I stopped smoking around 2 weeks. What worries me is that for the past year I have basically chest pains and recently I begun having a consistent cough and some an occasional mucus (yellowy/brown). Should I be worried that I have lung cancer? Or could it be something else that I have? Because one thing is for sure... this is a sign that there is something wrong.
I'm 18 years old and just quit smoking three days ago after having smoked for 5 years now.
It's strange, I was all worried about cancer as well, but I quit for other reasons.
I'm sure it's possible to get cancer after only smoking for a short amount of time, but I'm thinking that it's just highly improbable.
Doctors have a way of dancing around definite answers concerning such questions, because "everyone is different". It's true, but it's still frustrating to hear.
I actually quit smoking because I pieced together that nicotine addiction is a sort of conspiracy put in motion by tobacco companies and therefore, the government. Buying cigarettes promotes pointless consumerism, which, let's face it, this ENTIRE society is based upon. While promoting aimless consumerism, the smoker is also partaking in a sort of government-sponsored population control. Basically, in the eyes of the government, anyone stupid enough to smoke deserves to die. We give our money and power to big tobacco and in return they MURDER us. Not so much of a fair trade. If you know of anyone who smokes and is politically open-minded in the least, maybe you should relay this to them.
It's not to late to break the mental chains set in place by big tobacco. If I can do it, anyone can.
ADDICTION = SLAVERY

Hello ,Guys ! I am a doctor and I say the chances of developing lung cancer in 3 or 5 years of smoking is pretty rare . Cancer does not happen in a day ! It happens due to chronic irritation ! If you take 20 cigarettes a day and for10 years your chances are more ! But , still not guaranteed ! Symptoms of lung cancer will breathlessness , chest pain ,heaviness of lungs ,coughing out of blood and EXCESSIVE WEIGHT LOSS . Around 5-7kgs a month . The skin takes a different appearance ! It becomes dry and patchy and dark ,may be becauseof less blood supply and improper tissue perfusion . Cancer wont tickle , it will make you feel it's appearance with strong symptopms .
