I would say as long as you quit, the chances will probably be low.
Thanks for your reply. Well im 28... turning 29 this november. i was smoking from age 14-15 till 25. i quited just coz i couldnt see reason why i was doing it (and possible chest pains was the main reason). im very afraid... i think that its better not to smoke at all... and if you can quit smoking better do it asap. never try cigarette, ever - or you can shorten your life in a snap... losing chance to live life happilly. just dont smoke.
Hello, I am 15 years old. I started smoking when i was 12. I want to quit so bad.. I told myself when I smoked my first cigarette that i wouldnt smoke ever again, but I liked it so I smoked more cigaretts and before I knew it I was hooked. Im worried about my health and im starting to worry about lung cancer. I want to quit smoking, but its almost as if its become apart of my daily schedule. I have to have a cigarete about every 30-40 minutes.. I dont know how to quit but I need to. Imtrying to get into shape and play sports and cigarettes are making it to where i can barely run a mile.
I understand that America has everything tied up with money, politics and conspiracy.. But one thing is for sure the human man or women enjoys a cigarette. It is a long tradition of sitting around with your mates and enjoying a good ol' fashioned smoke..There is nothing like the way it feels. We no the the health risks and that what ruins the pure enjoyment of a cigarette. No matter what, smoking has been around since the beginging of time in all cultures and it will always be. Big boys in government or not its in our blood and for humans to stop altogether and not ever smoke again would be sad.
f*****g hippy Die
I am 19 and i have been smoking for about 5 years also. and the hearing "everyone is different" line sucks. Alot of people in my family smoke and have been for an amazing amount of time. I DO NOT WANT TO END UP LOOKING LIKE THEM. ever ever.
I have tried to quit alot. but i always venture back into those framaldihyde arms.
Which is funny i've always been a little bit of a hypo-i-have-every-disease-ever-known-oh-my-god-what-am-i-going-to-do.
Ive been reading tonight about peoples experience. and cancer and other great things smoking does to people.
Theres been some views that the knowledge we have ruins and fun. and thats absolutely right. but that doesn't mean that sh*t isn't real. Thats the part that really sucks.
I've read alot of interesting opinions and stories. i appreciate the variety.
Thinking about quitting again.
Nicole - reading your post, I totally related to you. I'm also 19, i've smoked over 3 years now. I have quit many times before, sometimes for months. I'm only about a week abstinent this time, with the help of my secret weapon: the e-cigarette. I can't speak much to it's long term efficacy, but I can tell you it certainly kills my urges. This has by far been the easiest quit i've experienced.
Yes it might be possible that you have lung cancer, so for permanet treatment you should go for Immunotherapy-a painless cancer therapy with no side effects and also has higher success rate.
Can you get Cancer for smoking like a year ? I had some Chest pains recently and I started worrying that this is a sign of cancer.
hey guys, been smoking for roughly 4 years, had a year off before that and smoked about 2-3 years prior to the break. Just recently quit about 8 days ago. My recomendation (im no doctor or nething but by experience)...In my opinion... it's mind over matter...here are my reviews.Nicorette gum is ok... but i didn't like the delivery method of nicotine and the nasty taste (even the mint flavoured gum... yuck)Cold turkey - for the strong willed... done it before but only for about 3 days. obviously withdrawels are more harsh than an assistant.Electronic cigarette - works fairly good. gives you the mental satisfaction of blowing 'smoke' (really flavoured water vapour) out of a long cigarette looking thing. gives you the oral fixation of puffing on a smoke (realistic resistance of airflow). end lights up (blue vs tradition red) but still interesting. and kind of awesome to smoke indoors legally :)The patch - Used this recently... worked awesome... it's suppose to be i believe an 8 week program, on the 3rd day the patch fell off (im a truck mechanic so the coveralls rubbed it off). I bought dentyne ice extreme gum (my personal favourite) as an oral fixation. either that or chewing on coffee stir sticks. Now yes... i do feel the urge to have a smoke but i would say thats only couple times a day and read somewhere (which through experience is true).. that urges last aprox 3-5 mins. I can stand beside smokers and have convos w/o the urge to have one (which REALLY surprises me when its' only been 8 days..)I found 3 days into quitting is the make or break. A coworker also quit few years back said... "i just went through X amount of days of hell quitting smoking... why would i have one now.."The same co-worker also said... 3 days, 3 weeks, 3 months and 3 years are milestones. I ride motorcross... ive been fed up trying to start my bike and being winded after 3-5 kicks, tired of paying 13$ cdn / pack (prices just went up again...) Chest pains, Throat feeling raspy, yellow fingers from the nicotine stains, smell on clothing, but the biggest reason is my fiance and i are planning to have children in the next 1-5 years (we're undecided haha) so i want to avoid bringing in a child with potential addiction tendencies. I wish everyone good luck, remember, MIND OVER MATTER, If you want it bad enough you can do it and there is a LOT of support from friends, family and coworkers to help you through your journey. Also one other tip, a co-worker quit back in the day and did it cold turkey, everytime he had an urge he told himself "not right now" or " in 5 mins". he pretty well procrastinated himself into never having a smoke again.
they should've never mad cigarettes, then sh*t like lung cancer wouldn't f*****g exist.
Chest pain is a nicotine withdrawal symptom that every smoker experience when they quit. The mucus you are saying is probably the tar when you cough. It came from your lungs and your body is trying to clear it out. Three years of smoking have a small percentage to give you lung cancer. And since you have quit, you will even more lessen the possibility to have a cancer.
