Ive also noticed dry pealing and itchy lips and realized ever since I switched from regular chapstick to burtsbees which was 6 months ago it took awhile to develope some kind of reaction. but only the past month Ive been rubbing it on a few times a day I wonder what ingredient it is that I am allergic to :/ A few months ago I also switched to Toms deoderant and took about a month to develop a reaction

I'm so glad to find this forum. Having the same issues as well here. A cold compress seems to help with the swelling, also some very strong cortisol. I've read that good old baking soda or Apple cider vinegar can help reduce swelling. It's too bad because I like Burts also. Have tried Palmers Cocobutter lip balm with spf with no problems. Then I ran out and switched to Burts and within 2 days get this allergic reaction.

I have had extremely dry skin all my life. Vaseline is what my dermatologist told me to use on all my face, not just lips. I doubt very seriously that it makes your skin drier.

Hello, occadionally I would apply lip gloss on my lips and would get a tingling sensation immediately, but ignored it. Ladt night I used ChapStick Flava-Craze and shortly thereafter tiny pumps appeared on my outer upper left lip. The next morning I started self medicating which made it worse. I called my doctor and they gave me a home remedy: 1/2 c water 1/2 c white vinegar 1 tsp. salt Havent tried it yet, but I hope it works.

I have had the same reaction to Chapstick brand Peppermint Chapstick. I think it is the peppermint that causes these blisters! So glad I finally found the culprit!

I used to have no allergy to lip products. I once used Burts Bees Mango Lip Balm and it was fine. I started to get an allergy after trying Burts Bees Pomegranate. Since then, I've been allergic to all lip products, except Dior lipstick. I could only wear Dior lipstick. I decided to go to a doctor and he told me to use basic toothpaste, without mint. And also applied a cream. After that, my lip got better. I tried few lipsticks but my lips were allergic to all of them, include Tarte which includes peppermint oil. Then I conclude that I'm allergic to mint. Now I only use Burt Bees Mango Lipbalm and Dior lipstick.

I agree with the eczema theory, too. My lips were dry and Vaseline did not work. Tried berts bees and now have three cold sores. My sister had the same problem with this, too. Stopped berts bees but my dry and itchy lips mirror my eczema symptoms. i do think it's eczema, but now suffering with the cold sores.... Same problem with blister. I have heard something called Lano might work!

That's funny because soft lips is what causes my issue!

I had this same reaction to Burts Bees, Eos, Vaseline, Revlon, and certain Blistex's. I am now terrified to put anything but A&D ointment on my lips, which is essentially just Lanolin. I've gone to the doctor to get allergy tests. I'm allergic to Propylene Glycol, so I bought stuff without it and still had a reaction. I'm a lipstick person too, I hate the way I look without it. The only lipstick I can use is NYX matte, even then, certain colors have given me a reaction. I'll forever be floored at what the issue is. Glad to see there's other people out there though.

I have the same type of allergy with any lip balms containing any cooling feeling, it could be mint infused, or peppermint infused, it always causes me to get a reaction similar to a herpes outbreak. It's really frustrating because you think that the lip balms are suppose to alleviate or your thinking it's actually helping to solve the problem but it's not. I no longer use Burt bees, badger mint infused balm, and eco lips medicated. They have all given me bad reactions. If I could recommend good chapsticks I would say stay unsccented. I always purchase dr bronneers unsccented and soothing touch unsccented.
