Hi, has anybody else's children said that their ears are now sometimes itchy and the pain is lessening?

First day the tonsils/adenoids came out and tubes went in was pretty good. She had some good meds in her. She even ate a Wendy's cheeseburger for dinner, plus lots of dairy-based treats (ice cream, pudding). She did complain of a tummy ache at night. Day 2, she woke up with horrible dry/sore throat but got over it with lots of water. Tummy ache came back but she was doing well, taking her OTC meds (wouldn't touch the codeine stuff they prescribed). Evening, she decided she'd had enough meds. Woke up this morning with a headache so bad she could barely murmur "my head hurts," but she said it in a repetitive loop. Slept basically all day. Mild fever. Headache went away but stomachache came back ("my belly feels big") Finally took some Tylenol, slept, laughed in her sleep, fever broke, woke up sweating. Now it's 11 pm, she'd eaten 1/2 a graham cracker all day, little water (but has peed plenty) and is watching My Little Pony. We're gonna be up all night. My biggest concern is her tummy. Someone warned me about lethargy and internal bleeding??? What?? She isn't bleeding visibly, and I think if she was swallowing it, she'd know.

I am really sorry your son felt so awful and I find a bit of comfort in this post as my 6 year old son had the same procedures done on Tuesday June 20, 2017 and last night into this morning he has been in the same type of excruciating pain of the same nature. The same exact description. Thanks again for sharing.

My daughter is 3 and 1/2 we are on day 7 right now. The first three and a half days she acted like nothing ever happened. She is eating pancakes, corndogs, fruitsnacks...anything she wants. The last 3 nights she has woke up crying and that is the worst for her. The days are fine the nights are bad night 4,5,6. My other two kids had theirs out as well they were good by day 10 I'm hoping the same for her.

My 5 year old son had his tonsils and adenoids out yesterday morning. He barely drank anything and wouldn't take the pain medicine in recovery and eventually threw up. And continued to throw up 3 more times on the way home. They let him go home without urinating and didn't urinate until 6 pm the day of the surgery. He drank about 8oz of Gatorade and ate some Mac and cheese. And that was the last time He urinated or drank anything. Still refusing meds. At 6pm ttoday he was admitted for vomiting and dehydration and given IV piggy back antibiotics. About 7pm he ate a piece of loaf bread and a few sips of apple juice after getting IV zofran in the ER following a bad vomiting episode. Sleeping now.

I know this was a month ago, but she definitely shouldn't have had a burger or graham crackers. Could scratch the surgery site.

Just had the tonsils and adenoids removed from my 7 year old on Friday (7/14/17). He was in so much pain when he came out of surgery, but after receiving his first shot of morphine, he was fine. Now the thing is to get him to eat on a regular basis despite the fact that he says that his throat hurts a little. He's not really an ice cream eater, so we've relying on water ice and fruit juices, which he's been craving, to hydrate him along with giant cups of ice water...that he's actually been drinking.

Today (day 4) was his first day of a full breakfast, scrambled eggs, sausage links & waffles. It took him a while to consume it all...but he did it.

My 5yr old son is day 5 post op (tonsils & adenoids) & I've been so reassured by reading the above posts as we've been experiencing so many of the same symptoms. The road to recovery has definitely been much harder for my son than I expected but hopefully the long term health benefits outweigh the horrible few days he's experiencing now.

My daughter had the surgery almost 5 years ago. And although the first week was super rough I wouldn't change it for anything. She is barely sick anymore. She breaths so much better. She gets a good nights sleep every night. She is like a different kid. The long term benefits have definitely outweighed the short term horrible horrible days. My I suggest Gatorade slushies. Mix Gatorade of choice with ice and blend. It was all my daughter would eat or drink for 4 days.

Exact same thing happened to our son! I never had thought something like this would happen from tonsil surgery but it was hell. So much blood everywhere I’m traumatized for life. Our poor guys also popped blood vessel or something we were told. We had to rush him to ER.

My son has had the worse recovery so far ! First 2 days were ok. On 3rd day he coughed up 1litre blood. Rushed him to ER at 4am. He had pooped blood vessel or something. They had to cauterize him again and came out of surgery for the second time. Stayed in hospital over night. Came home the next day he has been in severe ear pain every hour. We are on our 9th day since the first operation. It’s been very rough for him. Poor guy. At night he is up every 40 mins screaming for 10 mins. 5 nights now. Hoping this pain goes away!! It’s brutal.
