Chronic sore throat with swollen lymph nodes in throat - part 2

I agree, I dislike taking medication and going to the doctor and I usually try to steer clear aloof all that. But when the discomfort and pain is so constant, Ill do anything to make it stop. I now have an appointment on March 16, 2011 with an Ent. God willing the symptoms go away by then or the Dr. Figures out what is wrong with me as this discomfort has now taken hold of my life:(

I have Lymes disease and experience chronic pain in the throat and swollen glands. It sometimes feels like I will not be able to breath...I can find relief when I take ...OIL of Oregano.....I put some directly on my tongue and let it slide down into my throat and also rub some on the neck where the pain is...If I take it regularly I get relief for many of mylymes elated symptoms.

I also have had a sore throat and swollen lymph gland for a long period of time. 3 rounds of antibiotics and it's gotten worse. I have been to different drs. and now am searching on line. Have you looked into Candida? I am curious if you are still ill?

maybe hodgkins disease or toxoplasmosis

Same thing here, swollen right side, hard to swollow, and breathe at times. I went to the doctor and they said it was acid Reflux, but the meds are not working. I will be going to the doctor next week.

I have had the same exact problem for almost 8 years now, and all this is starting to get to me. Cant do what i want until i get rid of it. I know how you all feel, and what i found out is that it may be yeast or sugar irritatig it, if you look up a yeast free diet and go off of that, it will probobly heal it, you will feel better. It can take over a year, you gotta be strict. my mom had it for over a year, and going on a yeasat free diet might get rid of it. ITs hard but will be worth it. I cannot guarentee that it will heal, but in my experience, i did feel me getting better, then i started eating sugar again after a week or two, and i am back to where i started. What happens is that if it is yeast then the sugar you are eating is feeding the yeast, and it making it worse or stay the way it is. I cannot guarentee it will heal, but i am pretty sure it will work. I am starting it, and hopefully is will get rid of it once and for all. As everyone else said , i can't believe the number of people having the same problem i do have , i have been suffering from this bad sore throat , swollen lymph nodes for more than two years now, it's up & down some times it's really painful & some times it's just sore.

I got tested for HIV because i was afraid of it, but it came back negative , as well as my GF.

any ideas out there will be great help

consider mold exposure.  Anywhere you have had leaks or conensation in your home or workplace?  chronic mold exposure causes many of the symptoms noted here.

I am having same issue from August 2013 and till now I am suffering with the sore thorat and swollen lymph node I have gone through many blood test but nothing detected. I did  test for TB of Lymph node, biopsy of lymph node , HIV, CT scan of Face, MRI of neck but all came negative means nothing were detected. 

Now I have four swollen lymph nodes one on left another on right side of neck one under chin and another cervical lymph node. I always feel minor pain from my ear to neck and some time burning sensation too. I always feel something is stuck in my neck. But when I drink cold or hot drink I feel good. 

I consulted 5 general physicain , 4 ENT doctors, One dermitologist , 1 Genral Surgeon but no one is able to detect it every one said let lymph node grow cause all my lymph node are very tiny but not un noticable. 

Can anybody let me know if I need to do any other test. 

Hello everyone. I've been reading posts and opinions all over the Internet lately because I'm somewhat in the same boat as some of you. A little background on my situation : I've been getting sick off and on for the past 3 to 4 years. The past year the sicknesses started to come more frequently and now every couple of months I start to run a high fever and my throat starts to hurt me. So much so I would rather not eat while I'm sick and since it usually lasts 3 to 4 days, I actually lose about 10 lbs. each time I'm sick. Anyways, I went to an ENT specialist a few months back and have been going frequently since around June. The doc is almost certain it's my lingual tonsils that sit in the back of your throat and at the very end of my tongue. They seem to be resistant to antibiotics because when I would get sick I would go to see an emergency room doctor and blah blah blah. They wouldn't do anything but give me a weak prognosis such as strep or something along those lines and then antibiotics but they never helped and it just had to run it's course. I'm going to have the lingual tonsils removed on Jan. 19th and then federal guidelines call for a biopsy on any tonsil removal since they are lymph node type tissue. Hopefully all tests come back good and after the tonsils come out I will stop getting sick and the swollen lymphnodes in neck subside and dissipate. I'm no doctor but if you still have your tonsils I know for a fact they cause more trouble then they fix. That's why it's very very common to have them removed as children. Also have them look at the lingual tonsils in the back of your throat that I mention. I hope that this helps some of you out there. I will post later when surgery is complete. Btw I'm 25 years young and have been dealing with this for 4 years. My suggestion would be to stay on top of it until you can figure things out. No amount of money is worth more than your health

I have Epstein Barr also and was getting the sore throats for months. I just had lingual tonsil removal surgery in Novemer 2014. Sore throat is back from the cold weather and my throat is still recovering from the surgery. I think I have scar tissue so there is something there constantly when I swallow. I am so over it. They are linking Epstein Barr with the enlarged lingual tonsils. I am going to go to another doctor to see if this doctor took all the tonsils or if he left some. I am reading that if the tonsil is inflamed from a virus, that all of it should be removed or else it can grow back. Good luck!

Where does it state that they have to do a biopsy on tonsil removal? My doctor removed my lingual tonsils in November and was supposed to do a biopsy but did not. He said that there was no need because the looked fine. I just don't think he took enough of the tonsil to have it biopsied. I am getting sore throats again after just 8 weeks post op. I am so upset! Please let me know where I can find this info on the biopsy :-)

I am in the same boat it seems like. I have a swollen lymph node in the right side of my neck (i think it is one of the cervical nodes). If i shine a light on my throat it is always quite red and irritated. The right side of my throat just doesn't feel right.. i know something is there. I also have had a bad barking cough for over 6 years now. I had a chest xray and everything came back fine and clear. I stopped at that, im terrified at knowing what is actually wrong with me. I think about it all day every day, and cant sleep at night with thoughts that i have cancer and has spread, and thoughts of passing away with no one to take care of my daughter. I know that i need to make an appointment and follow up, but i am just so terrified of hearing the word "cancer" come out of the dr's mouth. The rest of these posts are from over a year ago, is anyone else still experiencing their symptoms? I have been very nauseous lately and throw up sometimes once a day, and im exhausted. I will make an appointment with an ENT.. i just want to know how you all are doing and what the outcome was. Thanks :)

Hi , sir I would also like to know if had found the solution for this because I too have been got frustrated frm my lymph nodes in my troat..frm last 9 months n I'm just 21 years it's making me depress ..cant take it any more ....
