Hi. I’m french, i don’t have a perfect english.

It’s a contagious disease. You can transmit it by saliva during the first month or so, maybe more. As fast as 12 hours or less after the first contact the throat click appear and you may or may not experience a moderate fever just before and an headache the next day.

I know it for sure now. I transmited it to 4 partners at least. The doctors are saying nonsenses with their stress or imaginary diseases theories. I had difficulties to admit that i was contagious and didn’t know that any virus or bacteria can cause such clear symptoms so fast.
After my first doubt, i talked to an ENT professor, he tought i was imagine it i think, when i told him that a partner in the morning was complaining about throat clicking and that i never mention to this partners that i have the same problem before she complained he said it was a coincidence. I didn’t know the girl the day before and i was able to ear her throat clicking in the morning after i felt her fever during the night.

I red few hours peoples with the same problem on internet. I decided not to see more doctors to avoid earing more stupid ideas. Most doctors are too presumptious unfortunately.

After a while i get used to this click. After 2 years it’s evolving. Half of the time when i swallow my saliva i don’t ear the click but something worse like water having difficulties to fall in a pipe, specially a day after having drinking alcohol. Anyone very close to me can ear it. I never noticed more symptoms.

This is all i know. Every 2 or 3 month i quickly check internet to see if someone finally discover the virus or the bacteria causing this. If i had an advice to give it would be to not get any surgery for something nobody understand now. I personally consider like greedy criminals doctors proposing surgery in a case like this and that’s why i finally decided to post in this forum.

I have had some occasional problems with reflux but I take something for it and have taken this med for several years. If I run out or forget to take it for couple days - reflex does come on again presents like horrible heart burn and/ or burning in my throat.
I have not had any clicking for a while now and do not miss it! Although my husband had noticed it himself at one point.
He has never had it himself.

I catched it right after a new encounter too, i transmitted it to at least 4 person. I’m 100% sure. The probabilities that everything is just a coincidence are inexistants at this point.

The fact that your husband never had it is not incompatible with the fact i’m pointing at. Certainly many parameters are to count with like the deph of kiss. Also different peoples are developing more or less symptoms for the same disease, this is well known.

Hi I have the same problem and I have hypothyroidism maybe it’s got something to do with that? It’s really annoying and I try not to do it but if I don’t then my mouth gets full of saliva really fast and easily and I always have to swallow

Danny Are you still experiencing this? I am going through something similar for 6 months now.

Hey guys, the clicking in your throat, if it is anterior (front part of your throat), more then likely it is your thyroid cartilage rubbing against your cricoid cartilage. Either do to trauma, or cancer (hopefully not), your thyroid has enlarged or your cricoid has enlarged and when the muscles of your throat engage and contract to swallow, these two bony fragments push against each other cause a clicking sound. Easily felt when you small while looking straight ahead while placing your hand over your through and swallow. The clicking may go away if you look straight up to swallow; this happens because you are increasing the distance between the thyroid cartilage and the cricoid cartilage.

Hello! So my throats has felt swollen for over a month now, I visited my dr and she told me it's most likely allergies and gave me Zyrtec for it. I've been taking it for a couple weeks now and it's not helping. The swelling feels worse at nighttime and almost every time I open my mouth, there is a popping or clicking in my throat by my Adam's apple. I haven't gone to see the ENT dr yet and I'm wondering if I should?! It's wicked annoying and uncomfortable :/

I came down with a nasty cough about two years ago which caused me to cough violently. I noticed shortly after that every time I swallowed my throat clicked down the middle. Slowly it stopped clicking every time I swallowed...and now it just clicks when I turn my head to the left (sometimes and not all the time). Also, when I'm laying down at a certain angle my throat will click. My throat also seems to gurgle quite a bit at times (it seems worse when I'm feeling a bit of drainage going down the back of my throat). Here I am two years later...I'm in shape, eat pretty clean, two kids, 33, and the click is still there but mainly when I stop and think about it. For so long I would sit there and push on my throat and turn my head all these crazy directions trying to figure out where a lump could be, etc...I think all the poking and stress of that made it worse. I do feel like it has gotten better but verrrrry slowly. Unfortunately, we are human and our bodies aren't perfect...especially as we age things will continue to pop up. So yes...we (you) are not alone!!

I am 41 yr old thin Female. I have clicking in my throat, (6months now) seems to be coming from the right side. I also have constant post nasal drip right side only and sometimes a sore ear on the right side. I don't know if something is out of alignment or if it's TMJ. I have had MRI, a CT scan and ultrasound and it appears that my thyroid is slightly enlarged (no nodules but Hashimotos) My doctor says this is not the cause of my issues. I'm going to see a chiropractor Friday and he wants to take a look at my imaging studies. I don't know what else to do...I have seen three different ENTs &my primary care numerous times, gastroenterologist, an endocrinologist and a rheumatologist. I have also been on antibiotics, proton pump inhibitor's, numerous nose sprays, muscle relaxer's, anxiety medications and a steroid pack nothing helps.. im so upset & frustrated...

Did your symptoms ever resolve or did your parents ever take you to the doctor to fix your throat? What was the problem? Was your thyroid cartilage or some soft tissue damaged?

I started having this clicking just a day after a chiropractic adjustment by an upper cervical chiropractor. I was lying in bed and noticed my throat clicked as I swallowed. Days later I noticed that when I drank water (in front of a mirror) a huge lump came up over my right clavicle. As a smoker I panicked and rushed to the ENT. He was about 60 yo and never had scene either symptom. Later the chiropractor said he had previous patients develop swallowing issues and it was most likely inflammation after his adjustment and would calm down. It has calmed but not all the way. I also have lymph nodules that are enlarged, tonsil stones, possible post nasal drip and indigestion. I am hoping if I quit smoking, continue my anti-inflamatory/ non-American diet, continue the chiropractor adjustments, massage that bulging muscle, and stay conscious of my lymph issues that this will heal. Finding this on the internet has been a huge blessing.
