Get your kidneys checked
Get your kidneys checked out, specifically check your creatinine level and GFR...
I will put in my two cents regarding specifically AMMONIA smell, not chlorine, or cigarettes, or dirty laundry, or anthing else. For me, this smell usually comes with runny nose and flu-like symptoms. Ammonia smell indicates either excessive protein, or proteinuria, in the urine, or a bad sinus infection, possibly a consequence oof the inability to eliminate all the protein. Normally you would not smell this since it is floating around in your bloodstream. It also gets trapped in your sinuses, perhaps to keep it from the brain, which when happens can cause seizures and strokes. When you get a cold or flu, the stuff that is floating around in your head enters into the sinus passages to be eliminated with the rest of the mucous, hence you smell it. If you have been burning a lot of fat or muscle while eating a lot of proteins and sugars, and not drinking enough water, exercise could be the cause. If you have not, my strong recommendation is you have a blood test to check your GFR and creatinien levels.

Hello. I am responding to your post about ammonia smell. I am 48. Black female. I had this problem for over 10years n seen many doctors with no idea how to solve my problem..but i did find out I had kidney stones but docs say that should NOT make the ammonia smell that was coming out my nose n underarms, chest area, head..but over the years I've tried many things..soap. Deodorants. Shampoo. Laundry soaps. Purfumes..I even was a vegetarian for about 6 months nothing helps...but i kept searching n over the 10 years i found three things that have kept me ammonia smell free n given me my confidence back for the last 6months: deodorex by quality of life...milk thistle 1000mg by rexall and livercare by Himalaya herbal healthcare..I take one of each together every otherday. I hope this information helps..if it works for you feel free to help another.
I also posted my Info a couple of days ago on this site..
Hi, I'm glad to hear about your success. I have this similar smell coming from my nose too. I have tried many things with no success for years. How long did it take after taking these before you saw results?
I have read that ketone levels are off kilter may be because of not enough carbohydrates in ones diet. I have cut down to where I am on a low carb high protein lifestyle change and seems everytime I change my eating habits with very little carbohydrates this happens. Just my thoughts.
