I used to have the same excruciating condition since I was 15 yrs old. Initially it was only during the winters but recently it started even during the rainy season. Any amount of stress, work or any excitement, sun's rays used to trigger this condition. Even while sleeping, if I was stressed or having dreams used to trigger this condition. I tried all sorts of oils.. coconut oil, Neem Oil, even mustard oil... but got no relief.. I took anti- histamines. Again no relief. just wanted to die!!! Even my dermatologist told me not to bother with allopathic treatment as there is no cure. He suggested that i take Homeopathy. And voila.. I'm much better now. I started homeopathy during last winters and got immediate relief. This year too I took homeopathy well in advance and it hasnt happened at all!!! Believe me it works!! Only change which my doctor asked me to do was to avoid eggs and Eggplant (Brinjal). If you need any help do feel free to contact me! I'd love to help you out!!! cheers and hope you get well soon!!!

Guys i think i have FOUND A SOLUTION!!
Take half teaspoon daily of BLACK PEPPER (Indian spice "Kali Mirch") with any of your food ingredients like curd, milk etc. You will notice results WITHIN TWO/THREE DAYS!!
Note: You have to take this daily in winters if you want results to be persistent.
I've had this same problem for several years and I think I found the solution thanks to a previous post on this thread. Sweat therapy! I started going to the sauna this week and spent about 20-30 mins each session. It was a little uncomfortable the first time I did it with some mild itching but once the sweat starts, it's all good. Now, I don't even itch when I go in there, and I haven't had an "itch attack" ever since. I highly recommend trying this. Stick with it for a week before you give up on it. I'm convinced that the problem has to do with our sweat glands going "dormant" in the winter and then if we get a rise in body temperature, those sweat glands become irritated. So if we keep those sweat glands "active" in the winter months by doing sweat therapy like going to a sauna several times a week, the problem can be suppressed until the warmer weather arrives.
Please try and thanks to those on this site that recommended this. Really changed my life.
Good luck!
The same thing started when i was 17 now im 47 and still have it. Im almost 100 percent positive its psoraisis, we are supposed to produce 1 layer of skin every 7 days but i think we're making about a layer every day, that's why its so hard to sweat in the winter. My hair and nails grow really fast too. I got this from having strep throat when i was 17 and taking too much antibiotics. Every November i start going to a sauna/steamroom at a gym at least 3 times a week and scrub layers of skin off, thats the only thing that gets me through winter that i dread every year. Hope this helps everyone.
Hi guys, I have a problem skin which is on my groin area. it's itchy like hell, I've tried the anti-itch cream for Joke itch , and eczema cream, they're not helping. I've put vinegar feel a lil bit better but not cure. the history or the spot still there. but the bumpy if flatten already .
and the doctor give me something like spectazole cream from fougera as the company name. and it help a lil bit , but the when the skin that I've put the lotion is gone because it get wipe by the boxer that I wear and when the air cold hit's me again , Oh My God it's itchy again, I feel like I only live for 2 days more and that's it . I always dry my groin area after I took a bath and never get moisture or sweat that much around my groin area. but the problem is, it happened during winter from my suggestion and I recently just move to my new room and it has carpet and everything is Isolated except the window , and I put 10 hours heater around 9pm to 5am everyday. and do you think I should I always turn on the humidifier 24 hours and the heat on too ? is that gonna work ?
and my other skin is a lil bit crack but it's not itchy like hell like in my groin area. the only material that suit as my underwear is my boxer and other than that like 100% cotton is worse. when I sleep like spoon position it's just start itching my groin area again. and I feel like I want to scratch them but I can't it's just gonna make inflammation again on my skin.
and I've tried any moizturation cream and it didn't help too. when it comes to winter situation it's start itching again in my groin area. and I'm just affraid if I keep using anti itch cream my skin will get used to it or won't work with any anti itch cream anymore for the next winter.

Hello folks, I'm so glad to have found this thread. I have sufferred from 'the itch' ever since my early teens and I am now in my mid 30s. It's great to understand that I'm not alone, and the issue has at least been identified and is being discussed here. A few things I might add:
- what I call 'the itch' is horrible! It's true that it's worse during winter but it's terrible to take a nice spring walk and have to suffer through the itch attack as soon as you warm up. I used to carry some benadryl itch gel and had to put it all over the places where I felt the itch: scalp, neck, chest, back and sides of the back, and inner thighs.
- The itch begins when you warm up, right before you sweat, but seems to disappear after I sweat. Sometimes I take a 20 minute bike ride in the fall/winter, and after about 10 mts the itch begins and it's horrible (scratch, scratch, suffer, suffer...) as I don't break a sweat in the cold months. I need to remove any layers once the itch begins and have been known to be reduced to a tshirt in freezing weather! (The cold calms it down a bit).
- The fear of an itch attack actually prevents me from excercising as much as I'd like. It's unpredictable and it's hell, so I have taken to swimming. I feel jealous of people who don't have to deal w this and I know I'd be excercising way more if I didn't have this mysterious condition.
- Went to a dermatologist who had no idea and prescribed some ointment which didn't work.
- I have swithed to 100% natural/vegetable glycerine soap (which is naturally hydrating and leaves no residue), have switched to organic/bio laundry detergent, and have switched to healthier (no alcohol, no aluminium, no parabens, etc) deodorants, but with no effect on the itch whatsoever. Although these are good things to have done anyway for your health.
- I have also tried moisturizing creams and hydrating by drinking lots of liquids, but to no effect.
- My partner suggests it might be dry skin (the usual). I've heard it all: the pores might be a bit clogged so they itch right before sweating; it might be the salt on the pre-sweat sweat trying to break thru; it might be a sweat allergy (not really cuz sweating is the only thing that stops it, other than the cold.)
- I'll try your suggestions: sauna, magnesium, etc... but do hope that this gets addressed by the medical community and solved.
- Should we start an awareness group????
I experience the same issue during winter time.
At first, I though it was becuase of static electricity, temperature change, or when my skin expands and stuff like that. But with time I realized that those doesn't seem to be the real cause. It looks more like mental itching. It elevates when I think of it,when I get angry or anxious. In fact,in earlier days,I used to remove the clothes I was wearing because I thought it was related to static or something like that. But,it still persisted. It comes all of a sudden while walking or during any kind of movemets.
I have absolutely no clue on how to deal with it or cure it :(
