I had this issue too. Only got the pain when or shortly after I drank. It tends to be the lower right back. I saw my doctor and its related to dehydration of the kidneys. I tried drinking more water the next time I drank and it helped.

I PROMISE YOU I AM NOT A TEETOTALER!
I am a recovering alcoholic and have done a lot of research 'why me' and what it does differently in my body from other "normal people." There is scientific backing that in the alcoholic, instead of filtering like a normie, the alcohol filters through the spinal cord.
If you are drinking even though it is making and causing long term harm to your body, which in many of your cases it is evident that you are knowing this ONLY occurs when you drink. Do you realize how insane that is? Perhaps losing losing a bit more and more of your spinal fluid for a drink? I did not have spinal pain, nor do I think I would have stopped at first either. If this message applies to you, please get help. It's not your fault, it's a disease like any other. Maybe this will help http://www.eskimo.com/~burked/history/cowles.html.
Again, I PROMISE YOU I AM NOT A TEETOTALER. Incase you're not familiar with the term, it means, I promise I'm not anti-alcohol prohibitionist crazy that thinks no one should drink... or think if you get drunk at times that you're an alcoholic. I just can't have alcohol and it's something I've come to terms with (it was my BEEEEEEEST FRIEND!). I live with someone who drinks a fair (see: large) amount and is not an alcoholic whatsoever. Yes, it's unfair sometimes. But life's unfair. It is nothing different than being allergic to peanuts (except is brain chemistry not physical). I promise it is not nearly as scary as it sounds. But if you are having this reaction and insist on drinking, you may have a real problem already. It's not ow much you drink, it's what you do when you drink. And compromising your health, possibly even eventually your ability to walk, is definitely a f**k-up move.
Please read what I wrote with an open heart and realize I mean all of this with the best of intentions! I'm not trying to get you sober, tell you how to get sober, find God, etc... just stop drinking. If by chance you do try and you can't do it on your own and still want to stop drinking, feel free to ask and I will give you some ideas.

hi i just turned 50 herniated my disc at 44 L4 or L5, did the mri at took 4mos to get back to normal only after stop taking all the drugs i was taking.this lasted for 3yrs but now the last 2yrs im in trouble didnt work for 3yrs and laided around doing nothing i mean nothing but drinking, no qualifing job available. thoses of you noticing temporary pain after drinking might want to think of your activities while drinking, i know i do some increditable things when drinking but i dont think my problems are from that, due to i have pain drinking or not. i do get temperary relief using my inverter mechine for about 15min. i get about 2hrs of sleep a night maybe 5 only when im awake for 18hrs. my doc gave me sleeping pills althought tired and drousy the pain keeps me awake. anybody else noticing that general practitioners these days are worthless. im getting nothing from doctors. anyway because i have decent health insurance they gladly schedule appoint to basically say hi and thanks for $143 oh and do you need the lastest pharma im getting payed to script. ouch im off my point, back to my back im hurting but now only when i sleep or try to sleep. yeah got the new bed to a tune of $2000 its decent. i stay at a lot of hotels looking for that miracle bed i dont think its the bed. so i just went in and had the epidural to the spine they said about 3 to 5 days i should feel better after 7 days i called back to say that i feel even worst, they said that they said about 2 weeks ok bye, its been a mouth in a half im still the same, im not calling back to schedule for an appoint to say hi and more vicodin $143 again. anyway just saying all of this incase someone has found something other than not sleeping or disc surgery. my new mri shows L4,L5 turing whitish suggesting bone on bone erratation ??? and my cartilage decreasing. so desperate im using that infomercial drink "supple" so far nothing i will try to get my money back after 60days ???. as for as my first injury the herniated disc with sciatica basically the only thing that helped me was time and walking alot 18 holes a day for 3mos. i truely believe the walking part helped...so im open to something new my brain has stop trying to be creative, im almost a functional zombie, as an electrician i need to be more much more. until later

I am so glad that you wrote this because one night I was typing in pain in back while drinking alcohol because my son would have unbelievable pain every time he took even a sick and it was in his back. We went to the doctor and they did ultrasound and X-rays, gave him ibuprofen. His pain started happening all the time even when he wasn't drinking -and he couldn't eat as much-it seemed like he had too much acid in his stomach and sometimes had diarrhea and sometimes was constipated but he had a pain up under his ribs and also had trouble laying on his back. The doctor gave him medicine for reflux and some pain killers. His pain continued to get worse and he thought maybe it was his job and then I read what you posted and also some other people who had similar stories and it turned out to be Hodgkins for them. They said theirs didn't show up in a blood test and it wasn't until they had a cat scan that it finally showed up. So I took my 23 year old son back to the doctor and she said she was going to give him some over the counter Previcid and that's when I told her I wanted a CT scan done. I told her what I read and she scolded me and told me to stay off the internet. I bit my tongue because I just wanted the scan. His blood work came back fine and his CT scan showed that he had a tumor on his colon and it had spread to his liver. My 23 year old son now has stage 4 colon cancer that has metastasized to his liver. Our hearts are broken. But I just want to tell everybody who has this to INSIST ON A CT SCAN. These doctors are clueless. They need to look on the internet. This could save your life. Nothing else will show you what you have like the CT scan. Thank you for posting about Hodgkins. I was horrified thinking that he might have that -and now I would give anything if he only had Hodgkins instead of what he has. Please save yourselves or your loved ones! God bless you and please pray for my little boy. Thank you for reading. xx

I have a herniated disk in my back and the reason booze makes it hurt more is your muscles relax alot more when your drinking which puts more weight on your back expecially when you are sitting
Loading...
its more likely that your core muscles relax when you drink whick causes excess weight on your lower vertibrae. I bet it hurts alot worse if you were sitting all night

Excessive drinking of Alcohol causes hangover and besides the famous headache, the hangover is usually acompanied by nausea and an imbalance of the nerve system. These hangover symptoms are the result of the toxins inside the body, which arise with the degradation of the alcohol. The headache or others pain you experience the next day is the result of dehydration. Alcohol makes the kidneys release extra fluid.
