I'm 65, never been a heavy drinker.. Lately started to drink only beer, quite a lot of it now in the heat, and my problem started with an initial sharp needle-like, intermittent, stabbing pain abt 4 months ago, progressing to a more continious, at times sever pain in the exact same mid back and slighty to the right side, as you described. I wondered wheather it was liver or kidneys.. Found my blood pressure was high also, and research told me that the functions of these were closely related and intertwined. I'll try drop the BP and try laying off the beer for a while. See what happens.

I have the same thing happening to me. Every time I drink whiskey, I get the worst pains in the middle of my back and it's a stinging pain that goes all the way down. I've been to the hospital over 3 times. They tell me it's muscular, but I'm not sure? The pain is excruciating! It also last 3 to 5 day's. I had my kidney's checked, the doctors say they are fine, so I don't know? This just started happening to me in the last. 3 months, so. I probably need to lay off for a long while.

It says if you have pain in your lymph nodes. Your back isn't a lymph nodes. This is false.

It is a common thing that I have dealt with as a heavy drinker, but also leads an active lifestyle. The first place that your liver and kidneys take hydration from is the cells directly around them. Lower back muscles that are often exercised readily go hypotonic. But yes it is common with athletes that drink heavily. Back stretches, electrolytes (especially potassium), a massage, and more water will clear it up in about 36 hours.

I only drink red wine and I have the same problem. More than a normal sized bottle of wine and my lower feels like I’ve been kicked by a horse. I still have lower back pain today but has improved since Monday when I over indulged because of a death in my family. I am a nurse and no one can seem to answer my question either.

Yesss! Dude I have lymphoma. More physically (CLL)), Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia. That's me all the way. I've been feeling these nerve like pains in the middle of my lower back where the waist line is and also on my right side, again near the waist line area. It hurts alot. I always thought that it might be high blood pressure. If anyone knows what the hell this pain is or where its coming from please send out your feed back. This type of cancer I have is a slow developing type of cancer. I just want to enjoy the rest and remaining part of my life. I hate living like this. Anyway thanks for reading and take care of yourself.
