It really depends on you. i smoke pot everyday pretty much, and if you tell yourself your not hungry, it works. ive been smoking pot on and off for a while, but now i have been doing it everyday for a couple of months and i have lost alot of weight. ive dropped a size down in my clothes and have alot more self confidence in my self to show my tummy and can now wear jeans and leggins. So depending on yourself. It can help you loose weight, or it cant.

ive lost weight from smoking the buds?? .. yeah it gives you the munchies csb.. but if you get your gears on and have a sesh before going for a walk around town or whatever you will lose lots of weight .just talk a drink for the drys .

I smoked weed for 10 years, I was 64kg, I stopped smoking due to psychological reasons, within a year of quitting I put on 20kg...I have tried going to the gym and eating right to correct the issue, but from what my doctor has told me and what I can see right infront of me is that smoking weed for so long destroyed my motabolism (when smoking thats fine, you stay skinny) but as soon as you stop, your body freaks out and you put on a stack of weight, the exact same thing happened to my partner who also smoked with me.

So from personal experience, and visual reference from somone I have lived with for half my life, yes, smoking helps you lose weight and keep it off, but as soon as you stop...you're in deep sh*t. It's a double edged sword, you smoke and be skinny, risk going mental, or stop smoking, get fat, and still go mental...lool..seriously thinking about taking it up again.

Weed gives you the munchies but if you smoke it ALOT you don't seem as hungery as u used to be seen your sober

This is the best answer I've seen on this yet haha. I smoke a lot and my weight will be going up one month and down others.

I started smoking daily in mid 2010. After about a year I had dropped 15 kgs, 80 to 65. After various attempts to drop smoking I always went back to it because of the side effects I got from going cold turkey (any withdrawal doubters, I suggest you try smoking a few grams every day for a few years then just stop it and HONESTLY tell me you don't feel anything). I wasn't eating properly without it and was worried about losing even more weight so I just kept smoking, but that didn't solve my problem either because I wasn't motivated to exercise or spend time preparing clean meals. Smoking marijuana in copious amounts is only good for about the first 6 months from my experience...then it just becomes something you need to function. I am well aware everyone reacts differently to everything, this is just my story.

We don't yet have proof that weed increases your metabolism, but even if it does then it will not cause you to get the munchies as quickly as it does. There are a bunch of different foods and drinks that increase metabolism, and they don't make you crave food anywhere near as quickly as you do after smoking weed.

A more likely explaination for the munchies is that THC is fat soluble, so your system encourages you to eat fatty foods in order for it to have a place to go, like how alcahol stimulates the apetite because it helps offset some of the alcahol in your system, and it is also similar to dehydration when people are hungover and the body craves fluids. This also explains why sometimes when you have to munchies and then eat a bunch of food it dulls your high down a bit. The difference between weed munchies and alcahol munchies is that the high from weed makes the food heaps more enjoyable.

Most aspects of weed should generally promote weight gain, as when most people are high they're more prone to relax and be way less active.

Smoking cigarettes helps prevent weight gain... Maybe the weight loss is something to do with smoking in general. But cigarettes suck ass!

Just gonna say people are forgetting how the body and weed works. Marijuana is a powerful analgesic aka pain killer. If you get the munchies, that means you're going to eat more meals, be active without fatigue so then your body will just burn fat stores because your body will recognize there is no shortage of food. Eating little portions over a day like five meals will rev up your metabolism. So that combo causes weight loss. /science

ive been smoking pot daily for about 10 years ! when i decided to quit i couldnt eat because my body was so use to only having an appetite when i was high , so i did drop alot of weight and now my appetite is back to normal

ive been smoking weed for 10 years im 25 nearly 26 and stratred at 15 and ive lost abit of weight wasnt fat lovely size, now im nearly bone, dont no why eat loads and just lost fat were i burn weed every day. deffo if u smoke weed over long peroid u lose weight for certain poeple sum times i think i have a cancer of sumin were ive lost alot of weight.
