Thanks
Be taken away, my life is getting worse day by day after the surgery performed by him.
I don't know if anyone will end up seeing this, but I wanted to share my story. I had a primary rhinoplasty with Dr. Shah in 2013. I liked his website, credentials, that he was a sculptor, etc. I didn't really do much research, but I wish I did. I had a thin nose with a hump that I wanted smoothed out. He told me that he would make my nose wider so that it would be easier to breathe. When my cast was taken off, I was horrified. I thought that I looked like an alien. My nose was shaved down but my tip was very, very swollen and bulbous. It took about a year, but the swelling eventually went down and although I wasn't thrilled with the final outcome, I thought it was better than what I had started with.
HOWEVER. At the 4-year post op mark, my nose began to bother me more and more. I noticed my nose looking more pointy and fake. What was happening was the thin skin on the tip of my nose continued to "shrink-wrap" itself onto the cartilage/bone because of my thin skin. So I was left with a scooped nose, and a dip before the tip of my nose (if that makes sense). I learned from another plastic surgeon that Dr. Shah likely did not do any tip refinement to my nose, which also made my nose over-projected. I read that some plastic surgeons avoid making any changes to the tip because it's highly technical and requires a lot of skill.
I also noticed that when I put my fingers lightly right above my nostrils, I feel they are asymmetrical. The left nostril has a little bump above it, while the right nostril does not. I also feel that my nose looks different whether I turn my head to the left or right as I look in the mirror. Coincidentally, I spoke to a friend of a friend who also had her rhinoplasty with Dr. Shah who has the exact same asymmetry.
In the end, I ended up with a stereotypical "fake" over done nose. It's scooped, very pointy, and over projected. One side of my nose feels like it's almost always at least 30% blocked, so I have more difficulty breathing now than before. I never remember having breathing issues before my rhinoplasty, but I catch myself breathing out of my mouth when I try to go to sleep all the time now.
I HATE my profile. It makes me so embarrassed. I catch myself in the mirror and it's so obviously fake and I'm so self aware of it that I am sure that others notice too. It makes me feel self conscious. Now, I have to get filler in my nose to fill in the area that is too scooped out. I will eventually have to get a revision rhinoplasty because I don't want to get fillers in my nose for the rest of my life.
My advice to you whoever reading this is this: do your research. Even if it costs more, go to someone who is experienced. I went with Dr. Shah because he made me feel comfortable and I liked the price he quoted me. Now I'm going to end up having to pay 2-3x as much and having to endure a 2nd rhinoplasty because I didn't do my due diligence and wanted to save money.
Also, full disclosure: Dr. Shah has a lot more experience now than he did 5 years ago when he did my rhinoplasty, so please take my personal experience with a grain of salt. This is just my own experience. Your outcome may be much better.
Good luck!
