Electric shock feeling thru whole body

I read the whole wiki article.  After reading it I wonder why anti depressents are even subscribed!  My shocks started when I came off Effexor but a few months later I was put on Cipro.  The withdrawals from Effexor were terrible. My doctor subcribed a few Prozacs to help me, but it did little good.  Then a new doctor a couple of months later started me on a small dose of Cipro.  The shocks have not gone away. Just today while understress working on my computer a zinger hit me.    I guess I will just have to live with it.  It has been over 2 years since I went off Effexor.  I will not go back as I do not want to ever experience those withdrawls again.  Luckily my zingers usually happen when I am alone or just going to sleep and then BAM. Thanks for the link.

Not sure if this is the way to find answers for me. But I have read each post here and it is the closet to my symptons that have only appeared in the last 2 weeks. I am terrified and not usually this easily disturbed when it comes to myself. The size of the these shocks that I have make it visible to others and the last few days they have been so strong that you hear me let out a scream. My whole body from toes to head all at same time get the electrical shock, flash in my eyes and loud snap in my head as I tense up my elbows hit my sides and my hands curl up to my chest, knees buckle as drop to the floor and now you hear me as well. 7 of them today for no similar reason, I stopped taking my anit depressent over a month ago why now am i getting these? I am having depression and anxiety attacks just bad enough that I can't control to the point I have ruined any chance I had at making my recently 4 month seperation have hopes of going home, but after this weekend as smaller episode last night, I am pretty she is so scared for her, no I haven't touched her, but she sees the impact of my not being able to cope to the point that I pouring with sweat and shaking uncontrollable together with crying like new born child and now there is this, he is having shocks at first we both were like nobody would believe me there is nothing about that electric. Why who knows I am starting counseling next week but I am entering that realm with much anticipation that it won't help me, but I don't like the drugs, because it just made me numb with no reaction to much anything that maybe is one reason we are not together today, mentally wasn't sound and now unstable. I feel for all or any of you that have to endure what we have. It is strange and I very new to it. But full of fear, what if I'm driving and kids are with me or if at work I have to be in front of potential & current clients, what will they think is wrong with this guy. On a ladder doing an inspection on top a structure, walking a attic and falling through, so many factors i'm overwhelmed. Scared for those who care about me, my job to support me and the fact that this could be the final straw for loving soul mate. I guess if it is, what I fear could happen, whats the difference I guess. I still end up with nothing. The shocks are very quick and abrubt, I don't know they are coming until it's too late. I'm serious when i say, they are huge in strength compared to what I have read. First thing I thought was something to do whith heart, than i start to reason and look on line, than I find all of you and realize that this is real. Dont even know the reasoning behind me reaching out. Some of it is that i have to admit, I thought for a moment, could this be all in my head, or even an alien thing, cuz really how in 44 years of life have i never heard of this. My mind wouldnt accpet that maybe its true, again that is when I met all of you. In each and every one of you, there has been something that has helped by reading your similarities to mine. I am still going to the doctors next week. I just pray to make to them. I am a man who takes this serious but can't admit, too embarrased to tell anyone that I fear the most, is leaving my legacy behind to all that know me, to think that now, they are almost mocking me, because really he thought he was getting electrical shocks, aliens, microwaves etc....So as I hope that those who may think it 's all in my head, I say really my generation grew with them putting those thoughts in our head. It must be documented somewhere an earlier in time. It sure makes wonder what they knew could happen if they took the next couple genration and put on them on the same type of meds, we would walk around like zombies paying our dues to them. Hate to think that this is synthetic or the far option that Orson Wales would tell us forom al lthe same shows we loved and now see reality. Cell phones, electric vehicles, computers and such, think for a second...is that Rose cleaning again?! Some of you will understand my stupid little metaphores, but i fear I have gone crazy becuase there are no immediate repair or explanation of this all... Good luck to all of you and to me as well. I'll let you know if I find out something different. Yea, I am just a little skeptical!

May be it is because of Static Current present in our body. Sometimes it is produced more so that whenever you touch any Metal you feel Electric sparks.

Tell your wife that you are not alone...I have had 3 cervical surgeries the last one was 2002 and doctors placed a plate & screws over my C4-4-5, now after 10 years I feel this shocks on the side of my neck, down my arms. I can even describe how they would look like if someone could see it...nerves and ligaments from your spine are serious business, causes a lot of problems, my heart goes out to you, but find the best NEUROSUGEON you can find and go to the bottom of this ASAP...pain everyday/everyhour makes life miserable! I KNOW IT!

Claudia, thanks for your reply.  Just today we were having an agressive conversation about my feelings, emotions, etc and I was well on my way to letting them get the better of me.  During our exchange and debate, it happened, "Zap / Pow" and as I regained my composure we met eye to eye, the reason I didn't want her to know so I could sheild her from my fear of this, not knowing and  or having trust in the medical provider, was the look of fear and concern in her eyes and the fear she saw in mine as I noticed that she just believed that this was real.  It scared her, but now I know that she believes that this is more than in my head.  I forwarded her your reply to my post and she responded with support.  So, thank you, it's ironic that this happend today and within the hour you replied.  Whatever you believe in your faith, is ironic how it works sometimes.   I will get the referal this week and get the tests started.  Not looking forward to medication, because of the horror stories and a little experience with a doctor who changed my medication often and how that affected me and contributed to my current situation.  I was at times very complacent when I needed to be actively aware.  So, imagine trying to fix your life because of medication that made you ignore life, which now has consumed you and imposed its pain. I will post any findings and / or my experiences from this weeks activities. Thanks again, I truly hope you find your answers as well.  Not looking forward to going back to meds, but will give them a shot and hope that now that i am aware, I will get the help so that I can share it with all of you.

You hit on something I thought I was crazy to consider...I get these shock/zap sensations just like everyone explaining on here, and realized that I have been off my anit-Ds for over a week due to not being able to refill the RX when I needed to. Anyway, I have migraines as well and my dr. had given me vicodin for them. I would take the vicodin and the shocks would go away! I thought I was coming down with the flu since I would get achy after the zapping. The vicodin worked, but definitely do NOT want to take narcotics for something like this. Amazing how many people are dealing with the exact same symptoms and doctors won't listen/help.Thank you for your post! Contrary to other's believe, I'm really NOT crazy!

You need to see a doctor ASAP. What you describe seems more like a brain issue. My grandmother had eplisepy and what you descibed sound like what she did. Please see a doctor as soon as possible.

I had to come off effexor due to loss of health insurance and the shocks began its been almost a month and still havent subsided

Syrinx, I just found your post while trying to look up information in regards to the fact that I have been dealing with the the "zaps" and electric shock feeling through out my body. Before I go on about that I have to say that the first thing that caught my attention was that you were given Cipro. I was given Avelox which is in the same family of antibiotics as Cipro. Both are very dangerous and can cause some serious side effects that can be very dibilating and most likely irreversible. I am not saying this to scare you or anyone else but there is info about these line of antibiotics that both the doctor's and pharmacist aren't relaying to the patients. I had this as a result of my alcoholism. Now that I am sober, I dont get the electric surges throughout my body and head at all anymore.

i also get these shocks it always happen when  i lay down to go sleep . i shake momenterily so bad that i have no control over it and is also very painful . after reading all these post i noticed a lot of you were on antidepressent , at the age of 57 now i was put on ciplopram , and bendruflumethine for blood pressure problems , shortly after i started haveing these electric shocks .several doctors  i have told bout this even the hospitail . and they look blank at me as if im crazy ,the shocks still continue every nite , and are very painful leaving me with pins and needles , numb feeling several times ive thought i may be having a heart attack  as it hits me right on my left sde close to my heart an like one or two have mention ive had pain in left upper part of my body , if any one finds a solution or reason for this i would most welcome the info . thanking for your time , i no longer feel alone with this  

hello my sister is diagnosed with partial seizures and she constandly has that same feeling about electric impulses throughout her body and also her head. She has to take several medications for her seizures which one of them i do recall is gabentin and norintin and several other ones. She is shaking a storm all day and she is quite tired of feeling she can not do anything about it. she looks very tired and exshaulted and deppressed.
