Dont take medications if they are not helping!! They are probably part of the problem if any of you have leaky gut. In my opinion, and experience, cut off the pharmaceuticals and go for natural healing remedies for the gut. These include unsweetened yogurt, coconut oils, they swear by the vinegar but I personally don't have a good reaction to it, and drink LOTS of water every day. Chiropractic care would be beneficial with someone you trust that doesn't get you to sign a release that if they kill or paralyze you will hold them harmless. Crazy!! Also keep in mind autoimmune disease develops from excessive inflammation. Im not saying that everyone's problem is stomach related, but give healing your gut a try. It may save your life

I had a problem like this. For nearly a decade, I couldn't do excessive exercise or even talk without phlegm attacking my esophagus. I had tried every allergy medicine I could, and every anti-mucus drug, with only a little bit of relief from Mucinex. But I had really only solved after I had a major cold, where my ears had built up painful pressure, so bad I went to the doctor for the cold alone. She prescribed me Flonase, which I tried before a few times. This time was different. Not only did it solve the pressure. But when the cold was over, I no longer was choking on mucus. It was just Flonase twice a day, which I later switched to a Costco generic. I have to keep it up every day. But I no longer feel that deathly feeling every time I have a wet cough or need to speak. I can't tell you if a terrible head cold was required to reboot or if it was just the Flonase. But don't give up.

Thank you, Guest. Could the doctor tell they were enlarged prior to taking them out (adenoids)? If so, were they significantly enlarged, or enlarged enough to warrant surgery, or was it the symptoms (excessive mucus) that warranted surgery? Thank you!

Dr. Floyd (ski) Chilton wrote a book (Inflammation Nation) that illuminates the body's ability to fight off infections and how sometimes this is too much of a good thing. This is most apparent with people with auto immune diseases but with lung problems like asthma, bronchitis, seasonal allergies, or even the flu where a great quantity of mucous is aspirated into the lungs the problem lies in the robust immune response. The treatment is first (to block the formation of AA by the liver) is to take adequate fish oil caps and or non farmed fish. This step is as important or more important than the following step. It is necessary to take enough EPA to block the AA converted at the liver without it when taking enough GLA . Borage Oil is the richest source at 190 mgs per 1 gram caplet. This works out to 4 fish oil pills or a serving of wild caught salmon and 4 caps of Borage Oil. Since Fish Oil and Borage Oil are ultra cheap this treatment is much less costly than over the counter meds and works far better at quieting the immune system but still leaving a hardy system. Try it. You will never have the sniffles again! Or I should say it works great for me. Dr, Chilton does mention the foods that we eat that already has a great deal of preformed AA. A chapter " superfoods that may be killing us" explains that farm raised salmon has a enormous amount of AA along with many other "farm raised" fish that is decidedly unhealthy that should be consumed in limited quantities.

It was obvious it was bronchietasis, you simply google it for half an hour and there it is. You dont need to pay someone to diagnose it for you. But what use is the diagnosis on it's own if you still have all of the mucus? Finding out out what it is and the usual treatment for it is the easy bit, living with it is hard. I started to get this think mucus in my throat and it's awful, particularly when trying to exercise or lay down, its impossible to lay on my back, one of the things that might help some of you is carbosisteine - get from doctor on prescrption - there is also an over the counter similar version - or get guaifenesen which I found quite by accident when drinking a cold remedy that helped and found out this was the ingredient in it that helped - I now get that on its own as otherwise the cold remedy is too expensive and contains paracetamol, not a good idea to have that every day - I have a nebuliser and use SALT solutions, when it gets bad VENTOLIIN inhaler or nebuliser, but even with all of this its still very difficult and often gets infected, then it is the endless rounds of antibiotics. Make sure you take BIOTICS to counter act how they wipe out your gut flora. A good quality one with plenty of different types such as Dr MERCOLA or Dr Ohirra. Otherwise your health will keep getting worse and worse due to the gut flora problem which can create dementia and all sorts.

I have the same problem, I use lobelia an herb that reduces phlegm and I take bioAllers pet allergy pills, it also reduces phlegm, try either one and see if it helps.

Do you eat peanuts? Do you eat any kind of nuts? Do you snore heavily or lightly? Do you drink coffee or hot chocolate? Do you drink any caffeinated drinks? Do you drink caffeinated sodas? Do you smoke any thing? You should eliminate peanuts and all caffeinated drinks from your diet. Avoid areas where there is excessive smoke from cigars and cigarettes. Get a test fro allergies to peanuts.

Minor allergies to peanuts and caffeine might not be easily detectable. Air-conditioning can contribute to cold and flu-like systems. Sleeping while fans and air-conditioners are running can increasing phlegm in the nostril and the throat. Do not use down pillows as feathers might contribute to allergies. Allergens and dust can be circulated during operations of fans and air conditioners. Some people like to sleep with open windows in any weather. The body is in restful state which can add to stress reactions to the body during sleep. Too much heat and too much cold can aggravate sleep and rest. These factors can also contribute to distress.

Looking up adenoid, says it is tonsils. I had been curious if having had my tonsils removed 50 years ago had somehow caused my current mucous problem, similar to all others on here.. According to your post, I think not now. Thank you.

I think an unnoticeable reflux due to stress, without heartburn, may be a major contributor to producing my mucous, because any essence of relief seems to come with taking antacids. Yet, all antacids come with a warning of taking them too often. They only give me some relief, no elimination or cure. I think the mucous just adds to my stress, making it a chronic problem.. I'm still looking for a solution.

I had this problem which built up over time. I was/am stressed (who isnt these days) but know its more of a problem of low stomach acid and reflux. Get some HCL and digestive enzymes...take daily until your stomach acid balances itself out. Titrate up and down with HCL...day one, 1 pill per meal, no change...day 2 2 pills per meal..once you start to feel heartburn start titrating down. If you have to take 5 HCL pills per meal per day to feel heartburn so be it. You will NOT burn your stomach lining or cause ulcers, listen to your body. Keep your digestive enzyme pills about 3-4 per meal...do not change quantity. It may take weeks or months but eventually your body will respond...and ease up on soda and alcohol during this process.
