i get this "head rush" too, at night, and am looking into diet and sensitivities. i get vertigo from ANY nuts, caffeine (even decaf) and chocolate, and i suspect there's almond extract (nuts) in some cookies i've been eating. keeping track of everything i eat, drink, including vitamins and supplements. so far: cookies = head rush at night. but i've only been tracking for a week.
I would only hear this noise in my head when I was quiet and there was no other noises (TV, radio) on. I thought I could hear the electricty running through the building and it has got worse recently since having solar panels installed. It is fine when I'm out doors but I have noticed I get it when I go down to the Centre these days & they too have solar panels.
Glad I'm not the only one but does anyone have a cure?
I was on Lorazepam and got switched to xanax and was already on zoloft. I get head zaps (thats what I call them) all the time now. The only time it happened before was like you when i forgot to take my zoloft. In the past i took both xanax and zoloft and that never happened. Could it be because I switched back over to xanax?
Is anyone having this issue that is NOT on or getting off of an anti-depressant or other drug?
I am not taking any medications. I am a 30 year old male. I've noticed these issues for the last 8 years, but this last year has been the worst. I also have sensitivity to sound, and bright lights, both of which seem to trigger my shock attacks.
I am having the same issues.. the brief, yet intense sensation that my brain is misfiring or being shocked, that causes blurry vision and makes my palms sweat. Yesterday, during a computer class, I had 6-7 within the first hour, and had to walk out of the class room. I immediately went to the hospital. I had an MRI and will have results in a couple days. My brain felt soggy for the rest of the day.
My mother has the same issue, and has seen NUMEROUS doctors on her same symptoms. Her diagnosis: Partial lobal seizures associated with mild epilepsy. She currently takes Lamitcal which prevents her from having these unusual shock sensations.
I also notice that these symptoms occur more frequently with lack of sleep, or caffeine, but that is not always true. I have seen anyone post there diagnosis here, so I will keep you posted on my doctors findings (if any).
Here'smy dime: First experience was on psylocibin mushrooms. It was my third trip and it was the best trip I have ever experienced on mushrooms. I stood on a balcony at my friends house and I was staring at a tree. I was overwhelmed by the radiance of the branches and I was very sure that I was communicating in some way with the tree. Thats when it hit me. I got a sudden rush from within my brain. Like 3-4 jolts. After this I regularly experienced this in a very minor way. Usually at times when I had meditated over the day or had a glimpse of stillness within the mind. Now the best part comes. As I was meditating 2 weeks back I had a very powerful sensation going on. I was very still after a good hour of dancing and meditating in my house, alone. As I went under my blanket and closed my eyes I started seeing a very dark kind of blue dot. I was happy that I was seeing without having my eyes opened as I relate that to the early stages of a lucid dream. When I focused on the blue color and kept on breathing deeply I felt the jolts coming back. Rushing. This time very, very intensly. More intense than the first time on psylocibin. Now the weird part about this is that you dont really have any kind of control over this. And it is very hard to maintain. But this night I had the advantage of this fantastic night of meditating so I grabbed the moment sincierly and breathed in deeply and held on to the jolts and they came harder and harder as to the point where I felt like there was nothing else but the jolts. I was completely overwhelmed by it in a very sensational way for some time. After this experience I have been getting the jolts more and more as to where I am now sitting in my computer writing this and I've had about 3 minor, jolts. In my opinion, IF this is not some brain tumor squeezing some vain, killings us all slowly and sensationally, then I think this is some kind of a acceleration of the frequency we are at. I encourage everyone to meditate on this and really breath deep while this comes because for me this has been a source of good feelings:) Anyways, if anyone has any more information or wants to talk about this my email is

Peace and prosperity :) R.
I doubt that the rest of us would deliberately bring this on.
Many thumbs down.
your post made the most sense to me so far. I wanted to do an internet search regarding what felt like loose broken crystals moving around in my head (for instance if I rolled over in bed). Mine is usually triggered by movement. I haven't felt this since I went off of topamax back in June of 2012. I was on topamax for (what a headache specialist considered MIGRAINE INDUCED SEIZURES) it worked well for about 6 months, but that one particular side effect hit me within a couple of months of being on it among other horrible side effects 6-9 months after being on it. I weaned by the end of June and it still took 2 months for me to feel like I was back to normal. I don't hear the sound, it's more like shards of a broken lightbulb are rolling around in my head and I "feel" it. I went on elavil to help with the migraines about 2 months ago & stopped taking it a week ago so I'm assuming my BRAIN is just adjusting to the change in chemicals. I also have two brain aneurysms, one having had a coil embolization the other small so it's just being watched. But I don't think those have anything to do with it, other than the fact that I've had more headaches since my brain surgeries/procedures. ok, well, I hope you all feel better and trust me, some of this stuff I go through makes me feel like I belong in a looney bin. I talk to a therapist, I have doctors, neurosurgeons, a psychiatrist, so I try to keep a well rounded grip on my health in general. After my brain surgeries I accomplished getting my black belt in shindo-ryu karate and kickboxing.....and I never felt I'd reach that ultimate goal, so I try not to let all this stuff hold me back. I've been somewhat of a hermit since March 2012, but I intend to get back to some form of martial arts and get my mojo back. I am a female 42 year old with two amazing grown kids, so I feel like now is my time to live and do things for me. I spent the past two decades doing everything for everyone else. My turn!!! I'm lucky enough to be working for myself and I'm in control of my own scheduling, and even when I do have one of thoes BAD DAYS that you just can't explain, I'm able to rearrange my schedule. I think it's best to keep life as stress free as possible and DON'T sweat the small stuff. exercise is probably one of the best remedies in life, (as well as eliminating dietary triggers). both of which I have to get back to because I've been slackin. Some doctors like to say things are all in your head, or it's just anxiety - but back when I weaned off the topamax I knew my physical dibilitation was because the poison was leaving my body. She didn't think so, she blamed it on my anxious personality. I am confident in knowing what's going on in my body which is why I discovered my aneurysms almost 5 years ago - before they ruptured. Doctors didn't want to send me to get scans because I was fit, young, healthy, but I knew....call it a gut feeling. All I can say at this point is listen to your body, and if you're not comfortable with your doctor - find one you do trust 100 %. you deserve the proper treatment and empathy and not everything is a mental issue. and I have to touch on something somone said about the "third eye" or being in touch with a psychic ability..... I've had decades of paranormal experiences, whether it be from deceased loved ones (or people around me who have loved ones who have crossed over) I've read minds, gotten vibes, so many different things I could literally write a book about so I know there are doctors out there that can't explain our brains to a "T"...and each of us are different - unique in our own ways. So we have to embrace the individuals that we are and do our best to cope with the crummy stuff that comes our way - focus on the good things around us. ( again I should really take my own advice )
I've gotten a hair test to determine what foods are TRIGGERS in a sense, in other words, we're allergic to certain foods, but not to the point of blowing up like a balloon or turning into a strawberry, but they're food sensitivities. they can trigger anxiety deperession headaches, fatigue, you name it..... I followed the foods a few years ago and I have to say I never felt better. At the moment I'm not in a position to get the test done again (someday I will) but I was thinking about eliminating 1 thing at a time for about 2 or 3 weeks and keep a journal to keep track of how I felt with each day. It's too tough to determine what the triggers are if you eliminate a bunch of different things from your daily diet. I honestly don't believe in "DIETS" - I believe in lifestyle changes and EXERCISE!!! That is one of the cure all's as far as I'm concerned. I hope you can get your problem under control one way or another. good luck
I have these eletric waves in my head too.For two years I suffer from migraines its a throbing pain behind my head its very severe and makes me scream. After that I started having numbness, hyperventilation and was feeling electric waves for a time. I felt that my whole head was in eletricity and that made me scream for a long time I couldnt control myself. The doctroc gave me valproic acid and it helped me.I did MRI ,EEG test but everything was clear. the doctor said that it is a panic attack but I dont know why I feel this electricity in my head and in my body. when I stoped taking drugs the same condition came back. if its not epilepsy whats that? If you have experienced something like this tell me please.
try Natural Calm or a Magnesium supplement - this cleared up my similar symptoms
I am having the exact same occurences. Phase shift is what I searched for on google because I just didn't know how to describe it. A buzzing like feeling inside my head that also affects my vision just for an instant. It isn't constant but can happen multiple times within a short period. It has happened in the past but it comes and goes. Somtimes it will be months once it passess. I'm going to try the water and exercise routine and see if this helps. I also cut all alcohol consumption to nil and thought maybe this played some type of role. I haven't seen a doctor to explain any of this. I'm wondering if it has mainly to due with body and hormomal chemistry being wacked out. I've also been under alot of work and family stress due to my mother's heart attack and hypoxic brain injury and the resuting time off of work has put me extremely behind.
i was just talking to my husband each night i lay down and i will get this zap through my head no pain just a zap like buzz
Well i have been feeling these same things but mines is through my whole left side only. this been going on for about 3 years now. I seeked medical attention and there ecknowldge that i was halusinating and it was in my mind and mines last for about 1 or 2 mins and it stays for months. I hope its not a tumor and i pray that we both get the medical attention we need.
