Bartholins cysts look-up may be helpful.

I am only guessing because I have 3 on my right labia minora, I have had them before, but I know this now because they appeared the day AFTER I was at the OB for a smear and STD screening that came back normal. I do however have a bacterial infection, so I surmise that theses are related to bacteria around the vagina clogging sebaceous pores. Mine are like tumors so I won't be poking them with needles, but the hot bath idea sounds good. From my reading the painful lumps near the vagina that prevent sitting comfortably are small cysts. Different than the lumps in the labia Mine don't hurt at all, I just don't like them. You cant see mine as they are inside the labia and can only be felt. Hope that helps.

I developed one of these lumps after sex. It wasn't a very big lump, half a centimetre in diameter. I could tell that I hadn't gotten "wet" enough before penetration and I think that may be why it developed, from irritation of rubbing. I soaked in a tea bath every day for a few days. The tea bath was a tea of raspberry leaf, calendula, comfrey and yarrow. I think the most important thing was that I did NOT squeeze it, or poke it or do anything to it. I just left it alone, and I did not have any kind of sex at all while I had the bump. It stayed small, never got to be the size of a testicle like some people report. After the 4th or 5th day of soaking it, it opened up on its own and the fluids came out. Hopefully this means my vagina will be back to normal after another couple of days once the opening is all healed up.

I have 5 of these things on my vagina; 2 at the opening and 2 on each side of the libea minora and 1 in the crease of my leg. I had 2 very large ones last year that they had to surgically remove because of the size of them and how deep they were. I was told they were sebacious cysts. I now have scars in the crease of my leg blocking them from popping up there. I've never had them on my actual vagina before and to be honest I've been scared to death over them because I'm thinking I may have to have half my liebea cut off for them to get them because they're so big. (they're the size of shooter marbles) and they float. I can feel the gland they're all in on each side and it runs very deeply into the crease of my leg which made me wonder if they were ganglian cysts. I had a hysterectomy in 1991 because both ovaries were covered with cysts and my uterous was clear full of fibroid tumors (benign) these things are so painful it has literally made me so sick to my stomach I could vomit and I almost passed out at the grocery store from the pain. I'll be honest I feel like I have a couple of irritated testicles down there. I'm glad to hear they're not anything too serious and that they can go away. I bought some epsom salts tonight to soak in and the soap they use on you before surgery (sorry the name has left my brain and I can't remember what it's called all I know it as is the pink liquid soap they wash you with before surgery) thank you everyone who has left comments about this. They are extremely embarrassing and they do hurt severely. I can barely walk, sit, or lay down. I've been putting triple antibiotic on them because I don't want to get MRSA down there when they do bust open as I know they will. thanks again

I thought I will write to this topic, after I went to the gyno. My symptons were the same, as many of you had wrote.
During shower,I noticed a tiny bumb,it was like a pea,and I thought oh no, totally freaked out. There was a lot of pain the next day,and I tried to cure it myself with antibacterial spray and I drank some herbal tea and also I put a cotton pad with apple cider vinegar.(DON'T DO THIS,because it causes a hell of a burning feeling!!!) Sitting while working was really uncomfortable, so in the evenings I was laying in bed, reading a lot of things on the internet and I wished it wasn't my bartholin! On the second day to the fourth, some puss and blood came out, and my outer lips(labia majora and minora on the right) were really swollen. On the third day I used marigold cream on the outside and castor oil.I went to the gyno on the fifth day, and I told my symptons, before I undressed, told me it must be my bartholin. After he saw it, he told me it is another gland and that my "cyst" went away from itself, but I have to check it the next week and take the prescribed medicine and have to use a cream. Now it is only a little swollen in the outside, and my inner lip looks almost fine. I really hope it won't happen again. Also I asked him, if I can have sexual intercourse. He told me I can. Also he told me, that this can happen to anyone, a bacteria that everyone has can cause this, but in other places it can cause more serious problems. In my case, on my labia area, the plus fluid from the gland could not deplete in time, and that caused the inflammation. If you use a needle or try to cure it yourself it can be infected more, so don't use a needle or anything just go to the doctor!!!

I have had a cyst for about 4 years, kept growing - then a second one came out next to it - eventually they grew to become one. I was told they were sebacious cysts. I take hot baths every day, it didn't do anything. Went to the doctor and he said try hot compresses 3 times a day. As you all know, the compresses get cold so I sat in a tub with hot water running and did as instructed, still nothing. And I had problems with it rubbing against my underwear and started to really bother me. So yesterday the doctor injected me with lidacain to numb it and then kept scraping to get the "stuff" out (which is like a hard paste). (it is the injections that are really painful - after that, you don't feel anything) Today I am still sore and am hoping just swollen since the area is like a huge rough bump (like a deformity) and all I was told was to apply neosporin a couple times a day. I have more cystscoming out but he said they are too small to take care of now and I have to wait for them to grow. I am 68 and these didn't come out until I was in my mid 60's. But I also suffer from auto immune disorders and don't know if this is contributes to the cause. I was told by 2 different gynos that they are not cancerous and not harmful and the only reason to drain them is if they become problematic .. mine did. I'll let you all know if the lump goes down - I sure am glad I'm not single or it would be a huge embarrassment.

I can see that after so much time, this thread is still active.
I have a similar problem: about two months ago, at 6 1/2 months pregnant, the lower part of my right big labia started to swell. It continued to swell at a very slow pace for about two months, until it looked like a testicle (sounds funny but it isn't, really...). It didn't hurt generally, but it felt uncomfortable and it hurt a little during intercourse, so I started keeping DH away. Last week, at 8 1/2 months of pregnancy, my ob-gyn noticed how much the swelling had grown and decided to puncture it. Initially, we had agreed to deal with it at birth, together with the episiotomy and other stuff. They punctured it, squeezed some sort of puss that didn't smell until blood came out, then disinfected the area and sent me home.
That night I started having some extreme pains and burning sensations down there. I had to have a sip of wine to be able to sleep. The next day everything was fine, but in the evening I started to feel the swelling again. Today - that is, six days after the procedure - the swelling is back just like before, but it has grown much more rapidly: in 5 days it grew to the size it had grown in two months. Moreover, it's not soft and smooth like before, but it's a hard, irregular lump. And IT HURTS!!! I can hardly sit or walk.
Tomorrow morning I'm back to the ob-gyn, and I'm terrified when thinking about the pain I'm going to endure from them puncturing it again, plus the regular check to see if I'm effaced or something, as my due date is just around the corner...
I hope things turned out well for you, ladies. I hope I'll live to let you know how my "cyst" ended up.

My dears , the things we go through....I can identify....I just let / it run its course....I link then to when I'm ovulating, just like those pimples which appear on my face when I'm ovulating.... I am a peri menopausal woman and some days I just curse menopause phases to hell and move on.... I too have no idea what they are but I am tending to link them it some kind of over secretion so oil glands in that area. best wishes to you ladies. Our vaginas have weathered many storms. May we find some find peace in knowing we are not alone.

Anyone ever tried sitz baths....it was recommend to me....warm water as warm as can be tolerated with a large handful of table salt...sit in in for about half an hour twice daily. It works. Salt is cleaning and helps with healing. The very warm water AIDS in the relieving of inflammation.

Whenever I feel one of these coming on I take a hot bath with aveeno soothing bath treatment. This is the only thing that has helped me. My dr couldn't tell me what they were but they eventually go away. Eventually is way too long tho to deal with that kind of pain down there. The aveeno bath treatment helps every time. If I soak the day I notice the pain it is gone the next day. I really hope this helps someone.

There's no possible way to have an ovarian cyst in your labia minora. I other get a new doctor or double-check that you've got the right anatomy terms.

This does help kinda. I know every women isn't the same and won't have the same condition so I'll say my story with this: my boyfriend and I have been together a year now and we've been having sex for just about that long. We haven't used protection in awhile. So about 3 months ago I started getting these little painful bumps and it was uncomfortable to sit, stand, walk or do anything. I told my mother about it and she said it sounds like the symptoms she gets when she has a yeast infection and that me having bumps is probably from me having polycystic ovarian syndrome. With me having that though it causes me to not have a period at all. So anyways I got monostate and did the seven day because it was pretty bad. After the first use I could already tell a difference and rubbed it off as it being a yeast infection. Now tonight I had and uncomfortable itch that hurt to the touch, when I really started to feel it (because my curiosity got the best of me and I was freaking out) it felt like one of the bumps I had before and in the exact same spot. Now the first time I didn't pop the bump because it was to painful as it is this time. It's only been 3 months since this happened before could it be because of my polycystic ovarian syndrome and me ovulating or is it something else? Like does this sound Similiar to you you at all? I haven't been to a gyno or talked to any doctor because of my financial situation and lack of insurance at the moment.

My doctor did the same thing, and it instantly stopped hurting. She prescribed an antibiotic and so far it seems to be working.
