hello there... i'm also suffering from what you had experienced.. i have this forehead osteoma just below the hair line.. i can really relate to your experienced, and i wish i have it removed. i've been living in the shadows since my osteoma appeared.. i have to hide it with my bangs and have to check it from time to time whether it's hidden in my bangs or not. a lot of people sees me like a taboo because i have this osteoma in my forehead. i know that you also know what i'm going through 'cause you've been in a situation like me. i have to be honest with you, i dont have the money to spent for a surgery. i'm financially stricken and i have to work in order to send myself to college. please please please help me. i'm begging you. i cant handle things quite a bit because of this osteoma and i always deprive myself from other people 'cause they just laugh at me whenever they see my osteoma. please please help me.. i know that you really understand my situation. thank you very much. :) i hope you'll reply..

I have the same limp on my forehead for over 2 years now too. Doesn't look like it's EVER gonna go away! I went to my doc and he referred me to a plastic surgeon... That's about all we can do to get rid of it without a BIG scar! Later!

I have a lump in the middle of my forehead. I first noticed it several years back and tried to hope it magically went away, while secretly fearing I had some horrible brain tumour. Eventually it got too big to hide and became noticable and became commented on 'what is that on your head..?' or 'ooh you better go and see a Dr' etc - so off I went and was sent directly from the surgery for a head x ray (which yeh panicked me more) - anyway the diagnosis was a fractured skull which had repaired itself by knitting bone over bone - except it doesn't stop and won't. I was told surgery is the only option however, it will grow back so try to leave it till your older for as long as you can - she said she thought it was probably about 20 odd years to get to the size it had with me - So here I am about 15 years later still alive! and healthy! and now waiting to see a plastic surgeon to see about having it removed.

I have it too and it's annoying. People are always asking me, "What happened to your head? Did you get hit?" And I would just say I don't know or I think so.

There is a disease called Paget's bone disease that causes bone to expand. I have had it for about 14 years now, in my hips and skull. I also have 3 lumps on my head and my skull has expanded, gotten wider and 'higher'. Thankfully, I'm a woman with a lot of hair and it's not noticeable, I wear bangs and keep the forehead lumps covered, too. However, mine are painful.

I do see an endocrinologist, if you live in the Milwaukee, WI, area she specializes in bone diseases and her name is DENISE TEVES. She works out of the Froedtert Hospital Clinics. Paget's disease only affects a couple of areas, like the skull and hips, perhaps, but it weakens all other bones in the process. I have had two chemo type therapy treatments to help strengthen my bones, it did help and I felt much better.

At the time my lumps weren't visible, I didn't have this head splitting pain, either. I've noticed a split in my eyebrow bone, I can follow it up to my hairline. Does anyone else have that?

Back to the lumps, mine are bone hard. I just found a new one so that makes 4, all are rather pointed, more so than round. I haven't smacked my head where they're located but one is near a surgical scar.

I hope some of what I've written has helped someone. Dr. Teves really is brilliant & is worth the drive to see her. Or perhaps your doctor could forward your records to her & she could give him/her her opinion. I know that's done sometimes if there is a long distance between patients.

Also, good info here:  http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/bonediseases.html

Good luck!

've had a small, round, hard lump on my upper right forehead for at least 4-5 years now. It doesn't hurt is it harm full?

I hate having this stupid "lump" on my forehead, up above my left eye and nose. Now I know how women feel when people are staring at their boobs and not looking "eye to eye!" I'll say, "Hey, my eyes are down here!" LOL

I have small lump upper right forehead for last few years, I now get pain right side of my head that comes on suddenly.  Contacted my doctor for appointment, in the past was told it was nothing.  I have googled this and found named "osteoma".  Osteoma:  It is not unusal to have a frontal sinus osteoma which is a benigh bony growth.  This will cause a palpable hard irregularity in the forehead region.  This is generally of no consequence. However, you shuld see an ENT doctor for evalaution and possibly imaging.  That is what I am going to to, like I said it did not bother me but now I am having pain.

Sounds like its Osteoma...they are not painful or cancerous, only quite annoying to look at everyday.  You can have it surgically remove but may have to pay for the cost of it.

I had one of these removed probably 10 years ago.  It was painful at times so my doctor scheduled removal with a plastic surgeon.  He removed as much as he could under local anesthetic.  He had never done it with a patient awake so wasn't sure how far he could go before I would actually feel it.  I don't believe he got everything as it is back again.

From what I have been reading, they have several options on how to remove them and typically run CT scan to determine the depth beforehand.
