I have a small hard knot in the middle of my forehead. Had a CT ran and the Dr said that to keep a watch on it. What does that mean? Sara Best
I just went to the docters and they said it was a fatty tissue, it was causing headaches, so I was referred to a costmatic sugerent who said the same thing. So they did it in the office, cut me open come to find out, he said it was bone. Started to scrapping it to that for sample, said I needed major surgery to remove it. So now something that was supose to be so simple i still have headaches, that have gotten worst. I still have my lump and now I have a nice scar. Talking about getting the short end of the stick (:

Hi, I'm 17 and have had 2 bumps on my head since I can remember.
After reading some of your posts I had a little google and found some information about what they are called.
If you search:
Osteomas forehead : some pictures come up and that's what mine look like. I copied this from another website but it gives you an overview:
"Hard knots on the forehead can often be attributed to benign bony growths called osteomas. Osteomas are uncommon, but these benign tumors in the bone of the skull can have a unpleasing appearance, and ;ead tp pain, sight issues. Typically, they are rather slow growing in nature. Other bone tumors are possible and include osteoid osteomas, which can sometimes be distinguished radiologicaly."
It doesn't seem like there is a cure apart from plastic surgery, I probably won't do that but it's nice to know what they are :) I hope I helped! x

I've had a small, round, hard lump on my upper right forehead for at least 4-5 years now. It doesn't hurt and during my annual physical's, my physician has monitored it and has dismissed it as nothing serious. In my most recent visit though, knowing that it bothers me to have it, he referred me to a ENT for further evaluation. After reviewing the CT scan my ENT still does not know exactly what it is but that it's an abnormal growth that has grown into my frontal bone and he's suggested that I have it surgically removed. Although it has not grown through my frontal bone and into my inner skull bone, is this something that I need to be worried about? Is this common? Is there another way I could possibly have it removed? I haven't been able to find much information on-line so anything will help. Thanks!
I also have a hard knot on the left front of forehead about inch down from hair line. I ask two different doctor's what it could be and was told it may be from old head injury, or calcuim deposit. I was also told the only way to remove it was to have surgery and have it chizzled off. Well needless to say I still have it. It doesn't hurt, just I know it's there and not sure why or what it is. Thanks for any answers
I noticed one on the center of my forehead probably more than ten years ago. My doctor looked at it also and said it was nothing to worry about. It causes me no pain and feels like part of my skull. Since then, I noticed about ten of these small bumps in the same general vicinity near and in to my hairline. None of these appear to me like anything that can be removed like a cyst would be. As stated in the previous reply, I can only imagine these could be "chiseled" off and I'm not sure I want that even though I hate these bumps. I don't know of anyone in my family that has ever experiencd this....
I had the same small, round, hard lump on my upper right forehead for about 9 years. I dismissed it for the first 4 or 5 years but it kept becoming more noticeable. Countless doctors, from Dermatologists to Plastic Surgeons, all agreed it was nothing serious and that it would indeed keep growing but none seemed to have a true solution to remove it. Finally, I came across Dr. Steven Robinson in Columbus, Ohio who said he knew exactly what it was - an Osteophyte. I scheduled out-patient surgery with him. He made a 1 cm cut across the bump, than removed it. It took about 10 minutes. These "bone spurs" are not part of the skull so they come right off without much effort. I now have a this little scar on my forehead which is so much less noticeable and when I use makeup, not noticeable at all. I am happy.
I am glad to hear I am not alone I am a 54 year old female with hard lump on my left side of my forehead. Doctors told me it was a calcium build up and that I could have it surgery removed but it would leave a scar. I been having it for years and I don"t remember hitting my head .Nobody know why we have these lump and what causes them .
elle: Thank you so much for this information. Can I ask you one question? When you had this, did it seem like it would come right off? Mine doesn't move at all so it doesn't seem like it could be removed wihout grinding it away. Thanks for your help!
I have the same thing on the right side of my forehead above my eyebrow. People are always saying, "wow, what happened to your head?" It's really embarrassing. Same story as all of the others, doctors say it's just my forehead but it hasn't been there my whole life, only about 4 years. It's hard but feels a bit painful when I wear a baseball cap. I also have bangs to cover it up. I'm becoming very self conscious and I even hate washing my face because I have to feel it. Any help would be great. What sort of surgery would help this I wonder?
out patient surgery. they numb the area, they cut the skin over the lump. they remove the lump. they stitch it up. you heal. it's over. or if you are scared of that, they can put you on twilight
anaesthesia and then do the cutting and stitching. go to a plastic surgeon and have that person call Dr. Steven Robinson

My name is Omer and Im not a doctor im only 14. I have the same problem. These lumps or bumps could be lipoma or bone growth.
Lipoma:
Lipoma is a type of tumor but its harmless so don't need to worry about it. Lipoma could occur at middle age allot Lipoma is basically fat tissues that's under a skin. Lipoma can get removed by surgery, but it depends of the size if its small it could be removed in the doctor office. U have an option to remove lipoma it will not kill u but it will bother u.
Bone growth:
Bone growth basically occur at a joint so u might need to get that removed.
If u guys have a problem with ur bumps then go see a doctor to know what it is.
Warning:
Dont be stress about u guys having lipoma its not deadly it will not kill u and when the doctor says u have lipoma dont think its a cancer.
I hope this could help all of ur answers.
