You need more time. I'm on 17 months now but it got better after 12 or so. I'm not sure if I will ever get use to being a non smoker? I think about it a lot but it does not really bother me like it use to in the beginning. I know that I will never pick one up again knowing what I've been through getting to this point.

Anxiety, perhaps? It's killing me.

You gotta stop smoking and keep up the quit. Smoking accelerates COPD.

I had this problem one day I couldn't swollow or breath. I went to the hospital. My doctor refured me the the ear nose and that doctor. They told me it was acid reflux. I thought he was not listening. I told him I didn't have heart burn. They scoped me and sure enough it was acid reflux. I know it sounds stupid but they prescribed me prilosec otc get this I take 2 a half an hour before I eat anything. No it will not hurt you. The box says once a day but I'm telling you. Go get some take one. And in fifteen minutes it will feel a ton Better

31 year smoker and Ive quit for 5 weeks now. The first 2-3 seemed surprisingly easy. Only difference I had noticed was going from an extremely cold person to being extremely hot. Now I have troubles waking up all night and not being able to sleep. Im getting fatter by the day and feeling moodier by the day. I feel no real benefit. I actuallt sweat more and need to shower more often. My teeth arent any whiter despite using tooth whitening. I get tightness in my chest. This is the worst Ive felt in years. Its like other people. have stated: are the years supposedly gained in life worth a poor quality of life? glad to read these honest posts here. All you hear about are the lies of how much better you will feel.

First of all congratulation for quiting smoking. This is the best decision you have taken, I know I have. You will start seeing the benefits slowly but surely. Quitting along with routine treatment does result in healthier gum. Quitting reduces the risk of gum disease and tooth decay. Risk of tooth loss improves slowly. But remember smoker has 6 time more chance of developing a gum disease. By quitting risk of gum disease is decreasing. Change your diet eat more fiber, vegetables and fruit less carb and fat. Drink more fluids and water. Consult your physician regarding lack of sleep, mood and breathing problems if any. You may need anxiety medication and bronchodilator to get through this. Smoking does not improve in any way the quality of life rather we are just chasing the next hit, the dose of nicotine while hurting our health. It does gets better though, be strong and have patiences.

See a doctor and get some zanies and a puffer and you will be ok. Smoking is the problem , it's not the solution. Take the one that you smoked as a slip and don't smoke.

I would suggest stay hydrated and get good sleep, drink lots of fluid, water. Take Muti Vitamins and minerals especially Vitamin B complex. Gargle with warm water and above all see a doctor. Doctor may prescribe antibiotics.

I smoked for over 50 years of my life. I quit a year ago with the help of nicotine patches. During that year, I have gained over 50 pounds, had to buy all new clothes. My doctor says to eat fresh vegetables when I want to snack.  This would be hard to do. I have no teeth and can't wear dentures. He then told me to exercise. This also is hard to do because I have diabetic peripheral neuropathy in my legs, feet, and ankles. I can barely walk with the help of a cane, let alone exercise. I told him about  being short of breath all of the time, he said to get out and walk some of my fat off. I tend to doubt if quitting smoking was best for me. I have more problems than I did when I smoked

I was in ITU with Swine Flu over Christmas, I also has Asthma. I've just turned 40 and have smoked 20 a day for 23 years. On the 23rd of December my lungs slowly started to give up due to the Flu/Asthma combination and on Christmas day I was put into a coma and ventilated for 8 Days. I haven't had a cigarette since. Seriously I cant believe you think smoking will help you breathe I'm 6 months in and feel breathless but I know it will pass and I will benefit long term. please, please quit I was knocking on the pearly gate and I can tell you its not a nice way to go. basically stop talking shite and quit :)
