I just got diagnosed with Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome where I have an increased fast heartrate usually about 110 - 130 bpm and a low blood pressure. I have heart palpitations and pounding, dizziness, lightheadedness, fatigue (extreme), and have to be careful that I don't blackout when I change positions. Some doctors are aware of this condition and others are not. Wikipedia it as it has lots of useful information about this condition.
I have the same symptons you say, specially at night, palpitations, and a feeling that I can't swallow or breath, but I can because if I lay quietly, I see that I can breath ok, You know I talk to my older sister and told her my symptons, she said that Is part of menopause, she had the same symptons almost like panick attacks.
Just started today. I have been under stress and had a major anxiety attack today......just wonder. Hope I am not having a heart attack.
I have this and I've been diagnosed with atrial fibrillation. Stroke risk is heightened with afib so get checked out as is you have afib you'll need to be on a blood thinner. Your cardiologist may try medications to keep your heart in rythym or he/she may want to do an ablation procedure to physically correct the electrical dysfunction.
I wore the holter monitor for an entire month, as all other tests came back fine (ekg, echo cardiogram, stress test, etc.)
I have had heart sensations since last 6 months, I had done all tests and saw an Electrophysiologist, he said everything looked good. I still get them and usually associated with coughs. Any recommendations to what I may need to do?.
I have also been having heart flutters/palpitations together with an occasional cough which has been rather worrying. A few months back I was told I had a sliding hiatus hernia and, having done some internet research, I now realise that the two things are linked. I am going to ask my GP if anything can be done about the hernia and hopefully that will also help with the palpitations.
I had what you just described over the years but today I actually felt dizzy. It passed. Have you ever felt dizzy?
I have the same symptoms. Have you considered Allergic Asthma? I feel like my heart is skipping and palpitations but nothing showed positive on the EKG. My doctor sent me to an asthma specialist and now I am doing better.
very helpful thank u
I also had this happen to me about 3 weeks back. At the time that it happened i completely panicked and thought i was going to die. I ended up going to the hospital only for all of the tests to come back normal. I than went to a cardiologist who said right off the bat that it was just ectopic beats and nothing to worry about. He did a sonogram and ekg just to be sure which surprise surprise all came back normal. He had me wear a holter monitor for 7 days just to be sure. I went to his office 110% sure that i had a blockage or something seriously wrong with me but he pulled up the 20 page holter report and said that the holter monitor showed pvc's but nothing to worry about because it was still a normal rhythm . The official finding was that it is sinus tachycardia with pvc's and he gave me a beta blocker. I have since noticed that my heart rate was only high because i was worrying so much. At night when i am really calm (without the beta blocker in my system for days) i can get 120/81 with 70-80 pulse. I have noticed that the palpation's are not tied to a high heart rate as i can get them and still have a 74-85 heart rate. At this time i am still having them with some slight chest pain on and off. I noticed that if i am in a relaxed mood the palpation's only happen once and a while with no pain but if i start to worry about them than i end up getting all of the symptoms described.
I have the same symptom but lately I found the answer to all of this with my sister who also having the same problem like yours. She went to her electro-cardiologist and they have given her a "Holter" monitor to capture the activity of her heartbeat for 3-days. Finally they have diagnosed that she has a deceased known as "AFib" Atrial Fibrillation - a most common type of irregular heartbeat. It occurs when one or both of the upper chambers of the heart – called the atria – don’t beat the way they should. They have given her a "Pace Maker" surgery embedded in her chest near her heart. Now she lives normally and no more irregular heartbeat. I will try to ask my physician if he can do the same for me "A 3-day HOLTER MONITOR" test.
Could be you have GERD..a stomach issue..this can cause the symptons you mention.
I've been having these same symptoms for years off and on ... never on a regular basis - but you stating the 'lurching forward' in bed to catch your breath is what happens to me!! When I fall asleep on my back and seems to happen within the first 30 mins of falling asleep - I have to sit up and gasp to try to start breathing ... ?? really scary ...
and I have the fluttering feeling in my chest that makes me cough, then it goes away ....
Same here. Cough drops help do not understand that. I have mitral valve prolapse which I have had forever, just started having symptoms. How are you now?
Perhaps Hashimoto's Thyroiditis?
