Hello there. So I really need your help. Actually my sister does :

She was on holidays....But soon as she came back in the “real life” – there are problems.

Well, while she was away her good friend was taking care of her female dog. But she was unbearable! I know why. She is in heat but my sister doesn’t have any experience with dogs so she didn’t know what is going on.

To be honest with you I don’t know what to do as well.

Can you help me how to handle female dog in heat and how long does it last?

What should I do?

Hey there what type if dog is she? How long has she been in heat already?   What color is her vaginal discharge is it. More bloody or is it more yellowish tan?   The biggest thing is to watch her like a hawk when outside and keep her in away from any other intact male dogs.... She will want them and they will want her...... Are there any intact male dogs in the house?

Hey Biomajor 10.

Her dog is Bulldog. I am not sure for how long has she been in heat but I think that it happened more than three times. I don’t know exactly because I don’t live with them and I didn’t ask her about it. The color of her discharge is yellowish to brown.

She doesn’t have any other dogs at her home. I think that there is no male dog in her neighborhood as well. But I suppose that you can never tell. I didn’t visit my sis so I don’t know what is going on exactly, is she wild, aggressive or something third. She just told me that she is annoying and unbearable :/

Tnx a lot.

If the discharge is more yellowish she is probably in her most fertile period and should becimg out of hear in he next few days to a little over a week or so ...... She is annoying because she wants to be bred..........remember hey coyotes and wild dogs will try and breed with her if she is left unattended outside

Hello. Interesting topic. I am having the same problem. My Lilly is almost unbearable and I don’t know what to do. Well according to everything that you are saying, my dog is in heat as well. Today I noticed a discharge and it is red, bloody – I don’t know. What this means? Is it something that I need to be worried about? I don’t remember when the last time when she was outside in my yard alone. Maybe it was three or four days ago, I can’t remember. I don’t know was she in heat because I notice two days ago that she has different behavior. And of course, let me repeat, this red discharge. When this will stop? What to do? Tnx in advance!

Hey there usually dogs discharge is red in early stages and you are not very fertile but as the discharge turns more amber colored their fertility increases then they go out if heat... Depending on the age and breed of the dog heat can last a week to 2 or 3 weeks.

Hello. I don’t have a female dog so I can’t really talk about it too much. But I think that inexperienced owners have more stress about it than those dogs who have experience with it. I know that it is very important not to let your dog outside alone, not even in the yard. I have to recognize that until now I didn’t know the difference between discharges in female dogs. What if the discharge is watery and white, almost without color? My friend is having this problem and she is almost sure that her dog is heat because she is wild. But I can’t help her :/

It's hard to tell..... If she is In heat your friend should have noticed bloody discharge first if not it could be that she has an infection

Hello everyone.
Yes I agree that this could be the sign of some infection. I also don’t believe that this dog is in heat.
Now, let’s go back to the question :)
It is not easy as far as I know.
I have a friend and she has a female dog.
Well when she is in heat (dog, not friend lol) she is very aggressive and my friend sings to her.
Some good, calming, sometimes a child songs :)
He told me that this works and I am sure that you can try it :)
I don’t know why, but it seems silly to me :)
But if works, why not?

Well thanks God that I found this topic! Am I the only one in here who doesn’t’ know how to handle my female dog in heat? Maybe I am. Guys, trust me I tried every of those tips that you recommended me but nothing. She is so wild. I even tried to sing to her and I have feeling that she is going to jump through the window. She is calm for two or three hours and then she is aggressive. She has this yellowish discharge. She is young. I am taking a good care of her, I don’t let her outside alone. When we are outside, she wants to escape.

My dog is in heat and when I checked her stool, there were red marks. Is this because of her period, or because she has a worm or a parasite?
