tramadol does help, but in the first 3 weeks of withdrawl from opiates there is a very high risk of seizure from the tramadol.

Always remember you'll get threw it an the withdraws won't kill you so you can beat it,feels like you want to take a gun an blow your f*****g brains out. But always remember you can beat it I did it once an like a dumbass I relapsed just recently I smoked some doped an re triggerd my with draws like a mother f****r an started poppin pills but I did an you can do it. If you have insurance get yourself help an get suboxens that's the best thing I ever did even tho you withdraw from the subs but there not as bad as those first weeks of coming off pills.im just keeping it 100 with you get help!! If not get yourself some anti diharia, vitamins,ib proufin n pray to god it goes away soon.

Have your Testosterone level checked. Prescribed 60mg total a day of Oxycodone past year. Before that was the "extended release" b.s. oxycotin which only lasted 6 hours with the 15mg oxycodone HCl for break through pain.
I found out my testosterone level was below 80, way dangerously low. I have been going to a testosterone clinic past few months and get injections as well as a take home injection of my medicine to help make my body produce the trestosterone.
I just started titrating yesterday, told my pain doc I was done with Opiates and was ready for my life back. Got a big hug and handshake from him and "am proud of you, we will make it happen". Good luck, had withdrawals once, when ran out of script due to theft of my pills.
I took an antihistamine for preventing the histamine release that happens; immodium helps a lot; EAT HEALTHY and take a mega multivitamin; constant HYDRATION is a must. Keep yourself busy when not sleeping, takes your mind off the need for the poison that caused this.
I will be praying and have family support. Hope this helped.

I've noticed almost all the 'remedies' people suggest are just more scripts, some people cant get more scripts and need something they can get easily, something that doesn't require yet another trip to the doctor, or they cant tell the doctor they're having issues, it's not like you can go to pain management, mess up on your pills, call the doc and say 'hey I messed up, can you give me some tramadol or clonidine' or whatevs.

A FAM (friend of mine), goes to PM, and has been for years, due to a car accident in which FAMs pelvis was crushed on one side. FAM takes 2-60mg oxys w 4-10m perc for breakthrough on a daily basis for 3 years now. Now FAM has pain and addiction. Stopping pills is not an option due to the pain, but now and then FAM messes up on her pills. FAM tries to keep a strict schedule, but rainy days, or too much physical effort will sometimes make FAM say ' screw it', over do her pills, then wind up being all out except the one pills she needs in case of a test when she gets her next DR appt. FAM has never bought pills off the street, does not even know anyone who does, and frankly does not want to. FAM really does TRY to be a compliant patient.

The last 2 withdrawals FAM found a miracle pills at Walgreens. It's called Black Cohosh (540 mg ea). FAM also bought a 'menopause relief AM/PM formula' which has a little black cohosh along with other supplements, 2 of the PMs and 2 of the Black Cohosh at night, 2 AMs and 2 BC in the morning, with a couple more BCs during the day. NO w/d symptoms. NO bloat, NO RL, NO body temp fluctuations. The cravings aren't nearly as bad either. Only downside is you have to eat, if not you'll get heartburn, FAM does anyway, so even if FAM doesnt want to eat she still has to chew a few tums.

FAM has never done this more than a few days, wouldn't recommend it for long term , but for a short time, it definitely keeps the WD at bay for FAM.

I hope this helps someone else.

Public Service Message from FAM - if you can find a way to deal with pain and you're not too far into the narcs, please try and stop, or take the least amount possible, once you're hooked, you're hooked, and it's a long long road of pure hell, so try and stop if possible. FAM wishes she had tried to not take anything at all, and just gritted her teeth and dealt with the pain, but as they say hindsight is 20/20.

Have a great day everyone.

Mega doses of vitiman c is the answer. I have been addicted to hydros and anything similar for over 3 years now and have tried most everything including suboxone for over a year and a half. That gave me my life back but when it was time to quit I couldn't bare the withdrawals so I relapsed back to my same old habit. I am on day 3 clean now and I am at WORK!! I have done this by taking mega doses of vitiman c. U cant just buy the reg asorbic acid vitiman c as it will tear ur stomach up pretty quickly. Go to a vitiman store or online and order either sodium ascorbate or liposomal forms of vitiman c. About an hour after ur last dose of ur DOC start taking 3 grams of vitiman c every hour keep this up until the withdrawals stop. I also use kratom to help until the vitiman c builds up enough. If u take too much vitiman c the only reaction is u will get the runs (which u will have during withdrawal anyway) simply just back down on the amount of vit c until this goes away. I also take a good multivitiman and 5-htp to help w mood. I don't feel 100% but this has been by FAR the easiest withdrawal i've ever gone through.... u need somewhere between 20 grams to 100 grams of vit c to midigate the withdrawals.

Im on day 7 and have the sneezing, runny nose, sh**s and not getting a lot of sleep I was on dilaudid 12 8 mg a day for breakthrough pain and oxy's 80 mg once a day for mega pain for over 9 years now. Just tired of all the meds and decided to call it quits. Over the past month, I slowly reduced my dose each day until I spent three days on 1 pill only, then went to nothing. I take liquid vitamin B-12 as well as 2 2500mg B-12 I also take a good multi vitamin and tons of herbal tea. I honestly have to say that I'm feeling so much more clear headed and cant wait till this is all over. Leg pain is my worst complaint, but I'll get through it, and so will the rest of you. Hang in there and may God Bless you all.....AND, congrats for getting clean, your so worth it!

Well, this is about my fourth time withdrawing from tramadol.I've been reading this whole thread. . . I'm having trouble understanding why any doctor would give a patient tramadol to withdraw from other opiates. Tramadol is a synthetic opiate, and every bit as addictive as any of them. PLUS it contains an antidepressant that adds an extra ugly element to withdrawal when you come off it.

I am able to get by with the use of imodium for a couple of days. I don't take it longer than that because high doses can cause toxic colon problems and bowel obstruction. Hoping stool softener works soon. This is my third day of withdrawal, normally my worst.and I'm fine without having had to take anything today.

I am definitely tired of this cycle though, and would like to find alternatives to treat my pain. I find when I take tramadol every day for a couple of months, I start waking up feeling nauseated & craving the drug both at the same time. It's hard NOT to take it every day when your pain is chronic. Next I'm going to try a TENS machine. Wishing us all success.

I've been through DT's many time & rehab twice. I can tell you that nothing will stop the pain & discomfort as you come off of any opiate based drug. If you want some relief, the best thing and only thing that helps is to smoke a little weed. It will get your appitite back, help you sleep, and help with the pain just a little.  Just hang in there, it will be over in just 3 to 4 days. It would be best to go to rehab where you have people to help you.

I know how you feel! They do not seem to care anymore, I just got kicked out of my pain clinic and I had no idea what was wrong, all I know is that my head hurt so bad. Well, I had shingles I found out which is very painful, they did not care! It was on my head by my right eye, I know that if they would really listen to you everything would be ok! I don't know if you have noticed but they the pharmaceutical company's have changed the medicine. I could take a 10 mg Percocet the round Watson brand and go for one time 10 and 15 hours between pills. I have NEVER!!! been able to do that, so it just goes to show you something is not right. Some people will say the pills are the same, but they cannot be! I hope things get better for you.
